We stay in The Lough Allen quite often and love it. It is set in a beautiful location and the hotel itself is very clean with excellent facilities and it is especially child/family friendly although this should not deter couples from staying as everyone is equally catered for. While we love the location, hotel and food Lough Allen's greatest asset by far is the staff who are always friendly, welcoming and will always go out of their way to make sure your stay is the best it can be. looking forward to staying many more times.
excellent location great breakfast good friendly staff live music each night very clean and tidy great place for family,s, especially those with special needs
We had a lovely 2 night stay, from start to finish was very good. Prompt checking in to checking out. Had dinner in the bar both nights & was enjoyable if a little expensive. Swimming pool was very good but had outdoor Jacuzzi and it was raining so didn't get to try it out. Nice big room with comfortable beds & adequate bathroom. We would definitely return to this hotel
We stayed 2 nights midweek with our two young children 4yrs & 11months...we thought we would be in a family room but were given a 2 bedroom apt which was very spacious...the only thing missing was a small fridge which wud be handy for babys milk etc. My only negative were the thin walls! The noise coming from the apt above us was bad...especially with young children sleeping but the lady on reception was very helpful and sorted it straight away. The views are gorgeous and there are great facilities for kids....the playroom for smaller children...games room and our favourite...the pool! Food was good in the bistro and we took a short drive to Glencar waterfall which was beautiful! Good selection at breakfast and staff are very friendly...all in all...a nice couple of days away...
Lovely hotel with fantastic facilities for all ages. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend
Had a wonderful break in this lovely hotel, hotel staff are all very friendly and helpful, pool is also lovely as is the spa. The breakfast was delicious and plenty of it I really can not fault this hotel and will return more often.
Excellent service and nice staff, food was top class in the bar restaurant and the buffet at breakfast was well stocked.
We had an amazing stay, we stayed for 2nights and had our two children with us aged 10 and 4 there was things for them both to do, the staff could not of been more help full they up graded our room to a larger family room and if they had an apartment free for the 2 night they were going to give us that, we were more than happy with our room. We ate in the bar on the first night and as a family of 4 with 2 starters and 4 mains it was very reasonable at under €60. I would highly recommend this hotel to young, old and families. We will definitely be back
Had a brilliant time hotel lovely and very friendly staff.
Amazing hotel, The staff were very nice and polite, the food was Delicious, very clean hotel everything was provided for us in the rooms, lovely and clean pool area towels provided, out door Jacuzzi straight from the pool, sauna and steam room. small games room on the lower floor didnt know about until last day but kids didn't need it. The view from the hotel was fabulous, mountains on one side and the lough view on the other. well wort a visiting stay we cant wait to go back again.
Great location for family break .. plenty to do for kids with playground, swimming pool facilities whilst also offering kids club from 6pm til 10 which allows parents to unwind for those few hours by maybe having some dinner or few drinks in bar or restaurant on site. The hotel is also very centrally located to avail of local attractions such as arigna mines, tullyboy farm, cavan & leitrim railway, parke's castle and glencar waterfall to name but a few. Finally cannot complete any review without mentioning the exceptionally helpful and friendly staff who are an absolute credit the hotel and go a long way to making this a very enjoyable family experience. Thanks to all
Lovely hotel, we’d a balcony do it was fab especially as the weather was so good.
Fantastic stay, very friendly staff, stunning room and location, would highly recommend to all
We really enjoyed our stay, room, staff and pool were all excellent. Although the breakfast was good and the staff were great, it would be 100% better if the cold products were actually in a chiller, and if the hot vegetarian products (ie potatoes, hash browns, beans) were kept with each other rather than beside meat products!
The stay was quite nice, although, the food was not good. It served carvery vegetables with the dinner and the wine was extremely over priced (27 euro) for possible an 8 euro bottle of wine. The food was very over priced. Also, the water for the shower and bath was luke warm. The swimming facilities were good and the staff were nice.
Good for families and in quiet location. Pleasant staff at reception.
Just back from night away in lough Allen hotel.lovely hotel from staff to food to rooms.lovely location. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
pleasant stay good value, good food and all staff very friendly.
A great hotel in a lovely location. We really enjoyed the weekend break in Drumshanbo, there's so much to do in the area. From just outside the hotel grounds, we walked along the canal to the new floating boardwalk on acres lake. And then we continued on along the canal walk the whole way to Leitrim Village. It took about 2 and a half hours in total. Just fabulous. The hotel was excellent value for the 2 nights b&b. Looking forward to our next visit already.
Perfect hotel for a very quiet get away. Lovely walking trails, all accessible from the hotel. Leisure centre is lovely too, they have an outdoor Jacuzzi but unfortunately it was out of order on our visit. Food in the bar is grand if you are happy with burgers and chips and that kind of thing, they do that extremely well :) The restaurant food was much healthier option and really good portions and fresh food. The breakfast was good, plenty to choose from to include a healthy option if required. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is huge, the main part is in good condition but the extended areas could do with a bit of maintenance. Overall a very peaceful place, perfect getaway, on the shore of a beautiful lough which I'm sure is full of life in the Summer months, If you just want to relax and unwind with the option of walking or bike ride I would highly recommend this hotel and location. It was October when we ventured up so we were very happy to just relax, walk, sleep and eat :)
lovely Hotel and staff
Everything exceeded our expectations. Greeted with a warm welcome. No family rooms available to our complete joy we received two apartments, it made the stay all that bit more comfortable. Amazing views and walks around the area. We ate in the bar and the food was lovely, great barman made us very welcome too. Our waiter that evening went above his job looking after us and had a word for young and old. He even sang happy birthday while talking out the cake to my dad for the laugh, great addition to the hotel. Swimming pool was lovely and warm and clean albeit a bit small, hot tub great too. Playground and pool tables a great addition to amuse kids although pool table not allowed to be used after 9. Suggest a better area for those games to allow use at least until 10 as they are a big asset. Thoroughly enjoyed by all and can't believe I didn't know about this hiding gem, we will be back. Thanks
I did'nt give this hotel top rating because in my opinion the noise volume in the bar with two monster televisions facing each other was excessive. By the way, I'm deaf and even with my hearing aids switched off and acting as ear plugs, it was still too loud for me. Ray
Stayed here for one night and was pleasantly surprised to be offered the choice of a room or a 2 bed apartment, we took the 2 apartment which was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. We had a 3 course meal and a few drinks in the bar which was all very nice. Breakfast was good too, a good selection of hot or cold options on offer. All of the staff were very warm and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again.
Fab Hotel, friendly staff! Great food will definitely return!
Spacious rooms, breakfast was super. Furniture and carpets need an upgrade.
Very nice hotel, good clean rooms and lovely food. My main gripes are that there was no BBC 1 in either of the rooms I booked and that the wifi was dredful. I realise that generally wifi is bad in Leitrim but a large hotel should have something better than the poor quality we endured. I also found the receptionist to be quite glib when dealing with my complaints. Overall about 2.5 stars.
Really enjoyed our stay. Good food. Staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough to help. Will definitely go back.
Spent a lovely 2 nights at the hotel. Ate at the bar both nights and food was really nice and the staff were more than helpful, they also made a lot of effort with my 10 month old baby which was nice. Went to the pool both days and It's great, big pool with sauna and steam room and the out door hot tub was fantastic with a wonderful view. The rooms themselves are a bit dated, especially the television but they were clean and the beds were comfy, got a great nights sleep both nights. Got breakfast to the room on both mornings which was only a small charge of €5 per morning. Breakfast was lovely, arrived on time and was nice and hot. Would def visit again, maybe when my baby is a bit older and can attend the kids club which is on every evening and a great idea for parents to have some alone time.
Had a great time stayed one night loving to stay for more would highly recommend will be going again A++
Beautiful relaxing hotel for a break away
Excellent family hotel. Staff very helpful. Had a toddler with us and they were very accommodating. Food was excellent in the Bar. Breakfast was very nice but could be better organized. Will return again
Hotel was average at best. Rooms were OK, nothing special. Could barely get a drip of hot water from the shower the whole weekend which was highly frustrating. Advised reception who said they would send up maintenance (probably did, we were out most of the day), but didn't help at all. Breakfast was grand, but food service in the bar was surprisingly slow considering it was during the day, pretty empty, and we only ordered two desserts. Hotel is also in the middle of nowhere really, costed us e20 to carrick-on-shannon in a taxi, and e26 back. Hot tub outside was a nice tough, really enjoyed that. And my partner got a massage in the spa which she really enjoyed. Overall, would have been pretty annoyed if I paid full price, and can see why they've got to use deal sites to fill rooms.
This is my second time with my family in hotel. Big family suite was great. Staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. The bar food was also good although 19.50 euro for fish catch of the day was a bit steep seeing as it was a special. 13.95euro was reasonable for the other main courses. Swimming pool was also very good. Will definitely go back again. Many thanks Lough allen
I stayed here with family which included toddlers and children. We had a fantastic time - the staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful and the hotel offers so much for children including games rooms, outdoor activities, leisure facilities etc. we will definitely return and I would recommend the hotel to anyone.
Great place for a weekend. Friendly staff, nice food and relaxed atmosphere in an untouched part of Ireland. I would definitely recommend it.
Just back from a 2 night stay in Lough Allen Hotel, can I fault it, NO. Lovely hotel, lots to do, staff are lovely, food is lovely, so much for my daughter to do with a lovely out door play area, pool & children's indoor play area too. Got a great offer through 3+ Breaks, will definitely be going back.
The Lough Allen hotel is a fantastic hotel. We have been a few times and will definately go back. The amenities for the children are brilliant and the pool is so clean. The food in the bar is really lovely and its all topped off by the amazing staff that work there. I would highly recommend the hotel.
Fantastic experience, myself and my family enjoyed a stay recently in the hotel. Lovely apartment, great space for the kids. Friendly staff, great service. Lovely traditional session that night in the hotel. Overall 4 star experience
A lovely hotel with a lovely staff! Service a bit slow in the bar for food but it was a busy night! Music was great. We will be back.
Our stay at the Lough Allen Hotel was very pleasant. We originally booked for one night ( Saturday 25th March) but were offered a complimentary stay for an additional night without breakfast. This was a wonderful offer and we couldn't resist taking it up. On Saturday night we had a lovely meal in the Restaurant. The food was superb and service excellent. We also had a number of drinks in the bar prior to after diner which we enjoyed immensely. The music was also first class. The breakfast on Sunday morning was superb and set us up for the remainder of the day. We didn't get an opportunity of using the leisure centre because we left after Breakfast to head to Omagh to a football match. Sadly we had to leave very early on Monday morning as I had to go to work. In summary this was a lovely experience and I enjoyed every moment of it. Since returning to work I have told many people of your excellent facility and I am quite sure some of them will book with you at as future date.
Fantastic hotel, would definitely recommend staying here and we will be booking again in the future. Staff very friendly and helpful!!
Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Great food and plenty to do including a spa, gym and swimming pool. Really enjoyed the spa treatments. Highly recommended.
Great family break. Very pleasant staff and good food. I would certainly recommend the hotel for a family break and there are plenty of activities nearby.
The hotel was nice, clean and the staff friendly. the food in the Bar and at breakfast (especially the hot food) was disappointing , the choice for the price was poor.
Stayed 2 nights for a family weekend away. Very happy with the hotel. Good value for money, clean and friendly staff. The bar food was poor (wafer thin over cooked steak sandwich etc). Also the hot tub was unavailable/out of service. Other than that a very nice hotel in a beautiful location.
Friendly staff was the best thing about this hotel. The dinner was not nice. Chunky chips were tasteless and overcooked. Sirloin steak was overcooked even though I asked for medium to well done. The changing rooms were dirty and a mouldy towel was on one of the benches in the male changing rooms. Was told that swimming hats were compulsory and bought them - however the swimming pool had many people without hats. Thankfully I was refunded the money when I complained. Overall feel I did not get value for money.
first day we arrived they got our booking wrong when we told them they gave us a apartment and when we went to bed that night there was blood on the sheet and we said it at the desk the next morning and they said that they would send in house keeping then the second night the boiler was making awful noises all night we rang the front desk and the night porter said to turn off the boiler we did this and the noise still continued would never stay here again
Great value and fabulous rooms. The food in the morning was great, the bar food wasn't great though. But that was partly bad choices on my behalf.
This was our second time to visit this hotel and as before we could not fault it. The staff are wonderful and can't do enough to help. We will return again.
Excellent value through bargainbreaks for a family friendly hotel break with spacious apartment accommodation, friendly service, excellent bar food with great atmosphere in the bar.....staff were exceptional
Fantastic hotel thoroughly enjoyed
Had 2 night break over bank holiday weekend, had fab time the hotel in beautiful location, staff very friendly loved pool and kids loved it all.only one thing i was unhappy with was shower in leisure centre it was cold.we had such a great time we have booked to go back nxt month.
Had a great weekend here - definitely added to by the fab weather. Great room, very child friendly - in fact having lots of other kids there meant our son had a ball playing football with them all. Staff very friendly, food good ( a bit overpriced in the bar). Highly recommend it.
Myself and partner had a wonderful couple of day at Lough Allen Hotel and Spa. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food is delicious and the hotel is spotless. We found the staff to be very friendly, accommodating and professional. We will definitely return. I would recommend this hotel, I couldn't fault it. The outdoor hot tub is fantastic. We will definitely return. Thanks to all the staff, you're doing a fantastic job
We had a 2 night stay at the Lough Allen Hotel. The staff were friendly, food was delicious and the leisure facilities of the pool and outdoor hot-tub were fantastic. The only couple of things I would say is that there is no internet / wi-fi in the bedrooms.....only accessible in the foyer and bar/restaurant . The bathroom fan was not workkng on arrival and i was promised that it would b fixed the next morning wothout delay ....I had asked twice again but.....we checked out on the Sunday and it wasn't looked at all , little disappointing ! Overall very enjoyable stay .
Overall we were not impressed with this hotel. Even though we booked a family room we were given an apartment which involved having to walk outside to get to and from the main hotel, which might be fine in the summer, but not in the wind and pelting rain. The apartment itself was in need of a face lift, threadbare carpets, shower head broken. There were dirty clothes from a previous occupant left in the one of the bedside lockers which makes you wonder about the standard of cleaning. The hotel pool was small, with only a tiny children's area and no life guard. There seemed to be no rules for using the pool like you see in other hotels. It was a busy weekend, so there was complete chaos in the pool, with kids running, jumping in and using all sorts of inflatables. The changing rooms were tiny and very uncomfortable for a parent with small children. On the plus side, the food was reasonably good in the bar and the breakfast was good. Get there early though, as the restaurant isn't huge and there were long waits to be seated. We wouldn't return.
Very nice hotel in a lovely location. The rooms are comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. For the most part this is a family hotel with lots of activities for children and is very child friendly. I would have no problem recommending this hotel.
Great hotel for families and great service
Nice hotel and great facilities, bar pool and restaurant were great but curtains in room seen better days. They were filthy dirty! Really don't understand how they could be missed by cleaners!
Stayed for a long weekend and found hotel very good . There were 5 of us and we were given a huge room with 1 double and 3 singles for the kids and still lots of room . Location right on lake good views play area for kids and a kids club . Only eat in bar and found bar food reasonable priced and very tasty .breakfast was as you would expect and loads of it. There is a spa and pool right in the middle of the hotel which the kids loved . Staff were very friendly and catered for all our needs . This hotel is not pure luxury but is clean with good staff ,good grub, loads of space and excellent value for money
Lovely Stay, food lovely clean and friendly
we stayed in the Lough Allen Hotel and Spa and from once we entered the hotel, our needs were met, the food was lovely, I had a spa treatment and it was great the children did the horse riding which they enjoyed very much, the hotel was clean and warm, would go back again. well done to all the staff
Lovely relaxing wkend. Food very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would go back again.
Myself and my husband stayed for our 7th wedding anniversary and we had a great time. We got a lovely big room, it was clean and bright. The 2 course meal we had was well presented and tasty. The breakfast was also lovely. We enjoyed a swim in the pool and relaxed afterwards in the hot tub which looks out towards the lake. This is our 3rd time staying in the hotel and we will definitely be back again.
Beautiful Hotel in a Super location. Ate in both the restaurant and bar and food was very good. Best duck salad I have ever eaten by far!!! Staff throughout the hotel were very nice and friendly. Highly recommend a stay!
just spent 3 great days in Lough Allen, we got a 2 bed apartment, which was clean and bright and quite. Food and staff excellent... Pool and playground great. Will definitely be back....
Really enjoyed our stay. Hotel was very clean an hotel staff more than friendly. Breakfast was well catered. Bar food is excellent
Lovely hotel and location, bar food and breakfast only average however.
Nice Hotel, easy to find. the Entrance lane was a bit bumpy but there's a few places using it so that's understandable. The Hotel was clean and neat with nice grounds. Reception was efficient but weren't clear at first what rate we were on. This was resolved easily with no fuss. The room was nice and clean and airy. The bed was smaller than king size but was comfortable. plenty of channels on the TV. Bathroom nice and clean with no annoying extractor fan, big plus point. The food in the restaurant was excellent, no other word for it. Best we've had in any of the Lidl breaks hotels. Highly recommended. Service was good and breakfast in the morning was nice too. However no scrambled eggs in the servery which was disappointing. Only fried eggs on offer. There was mushrooms which were nice with black and white puddings. Overall a very nice hotel with a good bar in a great location.
Home having spent a very relaxing 3 nights in Lough Allen Hotel. Good food, nice area, had an enjoyable visit to Arigna mines experience.,close proximity to Lough Key- well worth a trip. We had a lovely day there- weather wise- which was a bonus. Ideal location for sightseeing in this area. Great leisure facilities here. Would recommend this hotel. Glad we went there. Hubby and I are in 70s
Had a lovely relaxing stay hotel good staff very friendly and pleasant. Nice laid back atmosphere good to unwind. Ample food and very tasty. Felt relaxed leaving.
Lovely staff, nice food and nice rooms. The spa was incredibly relaxing and well worth a visit.
Great hotel. Very child friendly. Excellent pool and excellent kids club. Food fantastic. Overall great experience
First impressions on arrival in Reception, there was music blaring - not a relaxing ambiance. Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Rooms clean and spacious. Location excellent. A family friendly hotel, but not ideal for couples - children still in the bar after midnight. Restaurant food very good but it was too noisy to be a relaxing evening meal. Children in the restaurant until late...
Great hotel . lovely staff . unreal view and outside jacussi to top it all off . great place to get away
Very enjoyable stay for all my family! Staff at hotel were all very accommodating! Rooms were excellent and meals were of a good standard.
Fantastic hotel, wouldve stayed longer if we could have. the outer wood work ont the patio windows and railings looked a bit shabby but, overall a wonderful stay :D
Lough Allen Hotel & Spa is set in a stunning landscape , on the edge of the lake and surrounded by mountains. Its a great place for a get away break, lovely walks and lots of places to visit locally, one very good being the Arigna Coal mine experience, the view from the top of the hill alone is worth going for. The hotel is great , lovely staff, spotless, good food , leisure centre, great bar which had entertainment on , a great singer when we were there onTthursday night, it has a children's club also and is a great place for families, lots of room for children to run around and play football outside, very child friendly, would highly recommend it.
thoroughly enjoyed stay, food superb, staff very helpful will be back
We were plesently greeted on arrival, by the friendly staff. Very helpful and knowledgable regarding places to visit in the area. Good spacious family room, very comfortable beds overlooking the countryside and lake. Tranquel location, lovely clean leisure centre. l would definately recommend this hotel especially for families. Thanks to the hotel team who made our stay so enjoyable.
The hotel is brilliant value for money. The staff are great; very friendly and helpful. The location and view is amazing.
Spent two nights here on the 12th of July.On arrival we where greeted with friendly staff at reception. Our room was spacious and clean with great view of the lough , would recommend you get a room with a view of the lough . Food in the restaurant and the bar were excellent and the staff could not do enough for you. Great place for family groups. Would recommend this hotel to anybody as its great value .
Excellent hotel ,food was great in restaurant ,good breakfast ,very friendly and hard working staff ,rooms were small but comfortable enough .Leisure centre was good with a nice pool and small gym ,great place if you have kids as there is playground and a kid club .
Am just back from a fab weekend in Lough Allen Hotel. From the moment you enter the hotel in you are met with really friendly staff especially the receptionist that checked you in on Friday 5th June (sorry I can't remember her name but she was really friendly and welcoming). The room we had was on 3rd floor overlooking Lough Allen - really clean, spacious room - with beautiful views and more importantly - a quiet room. For a hotel that is so busy you do not hear any noise. The bar staff and restaurant staff were also very friendly and the food in both bar and restaurant were top notch. As was the entertainment on the 2 nights we were there. Would definitely return to Lough Allen and will recommend Lough Allen to all my friends. Thank you for a wonderful weekend. Máire Bonner
Staff very helpful and friendly, food good. The outside could do with some TLC i.e. lick of paint, grass cut, the inside of the hotel was lovely and clean. We had a great view from our room. Leisure centre was good however we could not use the outside hot tub, weather was so cold. We availed of a spa treatment that we enjoyed and there was great value e.g. two head shoulder and neck massage €49 for two. Defo worth a visit and lidl breaks great value
Brilliant family facilities really well looked after, lovely realxing holiday , great value too!
Great hotel for family breaks. Staff very friendly & helpful.
The hotel was beautiful and in a lovely area. Rooms very spacious and very clean. The hotel staff were really nice and very helpful. The bar food and the restaurant were both beautiful food. The pool was very good and children really enjoyed it. This was a very good hotel and i would return for another weekend break. Not a lot in Drumshanbo, Leitrim but you will find shops and something for the children to do in Carrick-on-Shannon. Tyrone Family
Had a great weekend, great staff, great food, the room was huge, very child friendly as well. Will be back!!!
This was one of the better special deals that we have availed of as a family. The good points, great location, nice village, EXCELLENT food, staff very friendly, got upgraded to a 2 bed suite, pool was very good. The bad points, breakfast staff were more friendly and attentive than evening staff in the restaurant; the tv in the room was antiquated with only two working channel. The hotel looked much better inside than outside - first impressions not great - pot-holed driveway, the front door and much of the woodwork badly need a lick of paint. Overall though we felt it was very good value and we would return.
We had a lovely family break in Lough Allen, the hotel was lovely we got upgraded to apartment which were very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We hope to return again in the future.
had a lovely time at the lough allen hotel. We were given the option to avail of a 2 bed aparment instead of a family room. It was fantastic with loads of room. Would definitely go back. food was fantastic
The Hotel was lovely, the staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. As the night went on the barman increased the price of two drinks by a euro a round till it was said to him, he said he made a mistake.
Stayed in hotel for weekend in October. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was at the front of hotel but if possible try to get one at back with the beautiful view of the lough. The weekend we were there was quiet enough but I suspect it can get very busy with children on school holidays. For us the best part was the FOOD. The meal we had at the restaurant was fantastic and we would highly recommend eating there.
We stayed at the Lough Allen Hotel in October and had a lovely time, the rooms were very comfortable and clean, all the staff were very friendly and the food in the restaurant was excellent, they have a good leisure centre which we made use of, we will return again in the good weather, so that we can appreciate the grounds around the Hotel
The Lough Allen hotel and spa was absolutely beautiful.. very easy to find following googles directions..Food was beautiful always well presented and good size portions.. the bar was good crac with live music over the weekend and the cocktails went down a treat :) staff was always friendly and willing to help.. our bedroom wasn't to big but was lovely and homely only thing I did not like was our bed was two singles pushed together so it felt like me and my partner were not together as with the two beds together there was a lump in the middle and was uncomfortable to lay on..my partner also noticed that the trouser iron did not work and when we got an iron&ironing board delivered it also did not work but as soon as we told reception it was sorted straight away.. but other than that we had a brilliant time away celebrating our first anniversary and would consider going back..
Really nice hotel, great location, very comfortable and spacious rooms. We enjoyed particularly the food that was particularly good and tasty (even the veggies!!). Friendly staff in the restaurant, the pub, and also the cleaners. Reccomended location for visiting Sligo, Enniskillen, and the lake district.
My husband and I booked in for three nights but only stayed two. The staff were friendly and the room spotless however the hotel lacked atmosphere. The couches in the lobby were cheap and tatty and did not give a good first impression. The first thing you saw when you went into the bar was a HB ice cream fridge. The public areas could do with a make over to take the bleak look off the place both inside and out. We wanted to watch the All Ireland camogie match. It wasn't on in the bar and the TV in our room was antiquated and we couldn't adjusted the contrast/brightness. The food in the Rushes Restaurant was terrible. We were booked in for B&B and Evening meal and there was a €5 surcharge for the neck of Lamb. The child size portion of meat was lying of a huge mound of mash and covered in a gravy, the veg were wilted and swimming in butter. The steak (also a surcharge) was accompanied by a pepper sauce however this was the same "gravy" that came with the lamb. It was a very disappointing meal,. The breakfast was excellent by comparison. There is no doubt that the community in Drumshambo have done a lot to enhance their surroundings and attract visitors to the area. All amenities, attractions and events were very well signposted and highlighted. The visit to Arigna was excellent as was the weather. Leitrim is not a tourist mecca but it has a lot to offer and well worth a visit for walking, fishing, sightseeing, gdod pubs and friendly people. Ann.
Great value for money, lovely food ,nice big rooms and very friendly staff. We really enjoyed our stay and will return soon.
we stayed in lough allen on 6 sept 2014. It is a lovely hotel and the rooms were spotless and the food was fabulous and the staff couldnt have been nicer. Some of our party used the pool and that was lovely also. Its in a lovely setting and would recommend it to anyone for a night away.
very nice hotel in lovely setting; staff very friendly and helpful. lovely pool and would recommend the spa for a massage.
I would highly recommend this hotel, at this time of year, to family's with young children, parents said kids club great. As a mature couple, we would return again but at a less busy time. Great buzz around hotel, even though it was raining most of weekend. Lovely staff, good food, clean and fresh room, what's not to like. Visit to Arigna Mines a must.
Highly recommended. The room was lovely and the food was brilliant. However the thing that made it stand out most are the wonderful, helpful, friendly staff. In particular Bernie on reception. If I could give 6 stars I would she is a credit to the hotel.
My partner and I booked this hotel very last minute. We got an amazing deal for one night with dinner and breakfast. The whole experience was amazing. The staff are so helpful and courteous, from meeting and greeting, to bar staff and leisure centre staff. Each member of staff I came into contact with was extremely pleasant to deal with. The food for the dinner was a three course meal and each course was absolutely amazing. Complements to the chef!! We stayed in the hotel that evening for drinks and the entertainment was great. Nice atmosphere in the bar. The hotel is suitable for all people from couples or families as it is very child friendly. We did engage in the horse riding which is available right beside the complex and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The room in the hotel is nice and spacious. Can't say I would fault anything. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for a break away.
Lough Allen Hotel has a wonderful location. Would have loved a room with a lough view and a balcony but not that lucky this time.. This hotel is very child friendly and ideal for young families but still a very enjoyable place to stay for a couple in late fifties. Bedrooms clean and tidy but could do with a makeover. Staff very friendly and food was tasty. I asked for a medium rare steak and got a well done steak covered with pepper sauce. I would happily return to this hotel. Hot tub outside was also a great idea.
Very good hotel..food lovely..outdoor hot tub n pool v nice.
The hotel was easy to find and offered great food and service. The accommodation was spacious although in being given a Queen size bed we discovered that it was two single beds placed together. We discovered on checking out that we could have changed rooms had we requested. Our deal included two courses for every night. This was not made clear to us on our first night. The second night we were given a different menu. We had three courses. The staff advised us that our meal deal would be discounted by reception - the restaurant staff did not know the deal and said there was different deals. We also made use of the excellant spa faciliaties and had two treatments including lunch for €69 each. Confusion arose on checkout when our total bill given was €650 when the actual bill was €450. Time was spent working out exactly what we had signed for. A good hotel for family and for those with children. Personally because of the confusion regarding the bill I'm unsure I would use this hotel again.
Stayed for one night. Very happy with our stay. Lovely room with a view of the lake and very bright and airy. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious. In walking distance from Drumshanbo. Would definitely stay again.
Most enjoyable stay. Lovely hotel, great food, rooms spacious clean and very comfortable. One of the best things about the hotel is its staff, very friendly and helpful. Great value for money.
Hotel. Staff. Food. Room. All excellent. Great value . Will stay again
I spent two nights at Lough Allen hotel my nephew got married there and held his reception there too. All our family and friends were very impressed with the quality of food and service, and how courteous and helpful all the staff were. The spa was great . I would certainly stay in the Lough Allen hotel again.
Cannot write enough good reviews about this hotel from the moment we arrived our stay was fantastic the receptionist was top and the bar room staff and dining staff where equally as good. I requested a cocktail or two for my wife and they where made to perfection our meal in the dining room was superb. Our room over looked the lough and it was clean and tidy as was the hotel ,will definatly pass on this gem to my friends and relatives and will be back as the setting was superb .Only complaint was the drivway of the main road
Excellent, wonderful friendly helpful staff, food great. We had a brilliant stay over the Easter holiday and would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. Thanks a million to all concerned.
We, an elderly couple, spent four nights D.B.& B in the Lough Allen hotel in April.this year.It was a first visit to this very picturesque county. The hotel, situated on the lake shore, is a delight. The foyer is large, open and bright. The welcome was exceptionally warm and we were shown to our room immediately. On further inspection, we found a large airy bedroom facing the lake. The bathroom was well equipped with toiletries. The shower head had a powerful spray. The food was excellent with, again, more than helpful service, at all times. The only criticism we would make is that the television was antiquated and with very poor picture quality. We really enjoyed our stay in this clean, friendly hotel. I would give this hotel a star rating 5.
Beautiful hotel, amazing food and really friendly staff. Cant wait to go back . Anne M Murray, Donegal
From we arrived at the hotel staff in every area were very welcoming, our rooms were very spacious, clean and warm, dinner on Sat evening was beautiful, [ the Seabass was to die for]. Music on the night very lively. A great weekend was had by all. I will have no problem returning for another weekend and would recommend it to anyone for a weekend break
Really fab hotel in beautiful location. Friendly efficent staff. Rooms spacious, modern and spotless. Food in restaurant for dinner excellant and good leisure centre. Great family friendly hotel with kids club and play room indoors with an outdoor play area too. We really enjoyed our stay here and we will be returning.
Lovely staff, very nice accommodation, and a good location. The spa has great offers available, and I would recommend it to families/friends/couples looking for a reasonable and relaxing weekend away. The area has a lot to offer, outdoors and in. We really enjoyed our weekend.
This is a very nice hotel for a getaway its rooms are comfortable and if situated to the rear have a fantastic view of the lake. The staff were friendly and the hotel itself was very well kept. I do think more singage is needed to find the hotel and possibly a tidy up of the drive way as you enter. I would defenitley return here and especially with family as it had a good swimming pool and an outdoor playgroungd for kids.
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights 2nd to 5th August and were overall quite happy with our stay. This hotel has one very big asset, its staff. They are the most friendly and helpful people I have ever met. There was a few exceptions but nothing to be unduly worried about. The food in the bar was a bit pricey with not enough variety and I was disappointed to be served what was obviously frozen skinny chips the type you get in McDonald's but not nearly as tasty. The restaurant also only offered a limited menu and I was confused over the pricing. Almost every item on the Al la Carte menu had a supplement. Why not just print the price as it is. Why the need for supplements in the first place. Any way this confusion led me to eat elsewhere. The hotel itself could do with a good freshen up as it seems a bit jaded looking.
Friendly, clean, quiet, great food, a real bargain
We loved our stay at Lough Allen Hotel & Spa. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was lovely. We ate in Bar and enjoyed our meal also breakfast was great. I love my breakfast! Spa treatments were gorgeous, therapists knowlegable and kind. Very refreshing massage and facial. General area is beautiful. Really intend going back soon. Deirdre
overall I was happy with this hotel, .just a few things that needed attention, the bathroom door has stains on it as did our small bin in the bedroom and the carpet on the back stairs was badly stained. A clean hotel is so important and really dosent take much to put it right.
Lovely hotel and most of all, very friendly and welcoming staff. Had a lovely evening meal in restaurant. Only downside was constant drone from spa and leisure centre. Also, some middle aged children playing on swings in the early hours of the morning did not help those trying to get a night's sleep.
We had a lovely time, recommend it
Really enjoyed are stay, excellent food and five star customer services. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
A Beautiful & clean hotel, with good food + fantastic friendly staff,. When staying there the spa treatments are a most, the staff are fanastic at what they do and really know how to look after there clients
We only stayed for one night but we were very happy with the hotel. The facilities were very good and the food was tasty, if a little bit pricey. Swimming pool, Leisure centre, hot tub all great, Staff friendly, overall great value. JB
Friendly staff, lovely food, good value ,thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Couple from Galway
Hi We stayed for one night in the hotel and found it to be very clean and modern. Restaurant was very bright and airy and breakfast was varied depending on one's taste but plenty of fruit and cereal if that was your choice. Overall a good experience. Ger
Had a lovely break, hotel great, in lovely setting, meals were great! Couldn't fault our stay.
great hotel, had dinner on the first night and it was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. place was very clean, room was fine. no complaints really and our room was ready when we arrived (2pm approx) but check in time is normally 4pm, this didn't affect us on the day but I think 4pm is quite late?? Overall a very enjoyable stay, Paul, Dublin.
had a great weekend in lough Allen hotel.Food was excellent service great would return.****
The location is beautiful but the hotel is very cold. Restaurant was freezing cold in the morning and in the evening. We were having our meals and very shaking with cold. As a part of the deal we got a family room which actually was a separate apartment and we had to leave the hotel building to get to our room. We arrived on Fri around 4 pm and our suite was so cold!!! no heat on except for the small electric heaters in 2 bedrooms that were so far away for the living room!!! When we complained at the reception we got a fan heater but we wanted to move the room and even pay supplement as we had 2 small kids with us but the hotel was fully booked so couldn`t do anything. The next morning (Sat) our apartment was nice and warm just the way we would like it at the arrival. Didnt even use the swimming pool as it was a cold weekend and going outside with wet head just put us off. In the bar we waited 15 mins for soup and 25 mins for 2 coffees and 1 dessert and 1 ice cream. Staff didnt seem to be busy as restaurant was closed at that time and bar was nearly empty. Not really nice experience. Wouldnt really recommend for familys.
We stayed at the Lough Allen Hotel & Spa for an anniversary break and I can't speak highly enough of the hotel and the staff. The room went had was huge, with a separate living area and a hot tub in the bathroom and a lovely view of the lake. We had a choice of eating in the bar or the restaurant and choice the restaurant for the first evening. The room was very intimate and the best food we've had in a long time. Regret not eating their both nights. I would highly recommend for a stay.
Nice hotel , food was lovely and the staff were lovely. Negatives : Spa not worth the money as there is no relaxation room or they dont give you robes or anything , very disappointed with this. Walls in rooms are paper thin and you can hear everything !!!
Enjoyed our stay. Staff were friendly, the evening meals were tasty. The only thing we had issue with was the heating in the room. The room was cold as the heat is timed to come on and therefore the room wasn't warm all the time. Also when the heat did come on it was quite noisey.
We stayed 1 night in the lough Allen hotel. we requested aa lake view room and were accomadated. We had a very pleasent stay from check in to checkout. Dromshambo was very sleepy when we passed thro'. We booked dinner in the hotel resteraunt. we had the set menu which offered lots of variety and was excellent. we also liked the leisure centre facilities and the hot tub. entertainment in the bar that evening which was well supported. breakfast was the usual full irish with smoked salmon fresh fruit etc. Overall the most stricking thing about Lough Allen hotel is the staff courtesy and the food. we hope to return for more.
Hi there just to let you know my husband and i had a great time at the Lough Allen Hotel. A very peaceful and tranquil place, very relaxing. The leisure centre with outside hot tub was fantastic. Rooms were lovely with a seating area which is normally just a chair but this has sofa chair and table. If you were thinking of havin a more wilder time carrick on shannon isnt to far away. Overall a great place breakfast lovely plenty to eat.and food lovely in bar.
a wonderful location, with the view from our room simply delightful. The rooms are a little dated and bizarrely we were given an access room with four beds The bar and restaurant are lovely and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We had dinner in the hotel one evening and it was top notch We were more than surprised however to find when going for a swim that there was no lifeguard on duty. The pool was full of children playing pool football crossing into the swim lanes which made it impossible to enjoy a swim apart from the fact that it was dangerous.
we stayed at the lough allen hotel and spa on sept 09th 2012.in our opinion it had to be one of the most outstanding hotels from the minute we drove in until the moment we departed.Berni at reception couldnt do enough for us and all the staff were highly professional in their jobs and presentation.we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone for relaxation and entertainment.this hotel should be a 5 star.we will be back. r and g monaghan co monaghan
Excellent hotel - great leisure facilities, nice playground, rooms big size. Great place for kids
Really enjoyed the break in Lough Allen, fantastic hotel and well catered for kids. Excellant service from staff extremely helpful, hot tub an extra suprise, excellant value. Will definitely be back. Sue
We really enjoyed our stay in the Lough Allen Hotel and Spa. The facilities were great and the hotel was very child friendly. The only negative comment i would have is that some of the waiters and bar staff were very very slow! Regards, Nigel
Just returned from a very relaxing weekend at the wonderful Lough Allen Lodge & Spa ! From the welcome on Friday evening to the departure on Sunday I cannot recommend the hotel and fantastic staff enough . The setting is beautiful , the amenities are superb , the food is spot on and the hospitality second to none ! A special thanks to Niall & Anne Marie for looking after us and for Paddy Joe and Daniel for the craic , not forgetting Bernie & Lazlo . Cannot wait to return and explore the area more .
Really enjoyed my few days at the Lough Allen Hotel. Room had a balcony overlooking the lake. The food was excellent and well presented. Staff were very friendly and approachable. Iron and ironing board were missing from the room but managed to obtain one, however was not much use.
The Lough Allen Hotel is a lovely hotel. The setting next to the lake is beautiful, The rooms are spacious, clean and have every amenity. The staff are exceptionally pleasant and helpful. I would be happy to recommend this hotel to my friends and even happier to return myself. Virginia Luby
Lovely Hotel, Friendly Staff, food was excellant.Over all could'nt fault the Hotel.
Excellent hotel, with a very good continental breakfast of cheeses hams smoked salmon croissants etc, not just the usual cereal and toast. My only complaint is the poor service in the bar, very very slow service from waiter and barmen.
