Fantastic venue. Music in the bar. Great food. Lovely pool. The room was amazing. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The location of the hotel is great beside the play area with bowling. Free parking also provided.
Staff pleasant and obliging, Aoife and Emily are a asset to the hotel
Very friendly staff Good food and service.
What a friendly experience by all staff from the get go. Very pleasant staff and very attentive with one member of our group having a disability. The rooms were fully equipped to meet all our needs beautiful decor. Delicious food through from breakfast, evening meal to bar food you'd know there was a highly qualified chef and kitchen staff on duty. You get the feeling all roles are fulfilled by this energetic communicative Carlow Talbot Team. Special thanks to Dan. We also visited the beauty rooms very well cared for and relaxing.
Only stayed one night I would only rate hotel as 3 star not 4 .know experience bar staff service so slow .same at reception didn't seen to know what they were doing .over all breakfast was lovely and a lovely big bedroom martina
Lovely food. Swimming pool and leisure centre nice too. Friendly staff. Plus the Borrow way is within walking distance and its beautiful.
Hotel is located beside a shopping complex and about 5 minutes drive into carlow staff friendly and helpful food excellent great choice on menu
I found Irish mini breaks very helpfull to deal with & we are always happy with our stay at the Talbot hotel Carlow.
Very nice hitel and comfortable bed. Having the bowling close by was an added bonus. Was a little disppointed in choice for dinner menu as we were on a lidl break. of

We found this hotel to be great value for money. The staff were friendly and the food was lovely
Don’t be put off by the building or lobby - hotel is clean with nicely decorated 4* standard bedrooms but what separates them from others are the staff and food- excellent! Well Done ????
Don’t be put off by the building/ reception area on sight- bedrooms standard 4* rating but staff service and food was exceptional
Love this hotel from the moment we stepped inside they could not do any more for us the staff are fantastic and the food is beautiful
Ireland mini breaks was very helpfull in organising my booking. The Talbot hotel is a favourite place of ours to go.
The rooms were clean and nice however the 3 course dinner that k booked was very bad, steak, xhicken wings and fish tasted like they were made hours before hand. Salad was wilted and brown. Alot of improvement is needed from the food
CLEAN HOTEL NICE STAFF GOOD FOOD. MIKE
We had a lovely stay here , the staff were very friendly and helpful ; nice food and the room was very clean ,
Great Hotel with lots of parking. Spacious cozy family rooms. Wonderful child friendly staff and great bar food. Busy bar but no problems ordering etc
The staff were exceptionally welcoming, attentive and friendly and all the while professional in carrying out their work. The bedrooms are lovely, spacious, and the beds so comfortable. It's always wonderful to see the kettle in the room too!!! The Manager runs a good ship and also has a great team.
We had a lovely break in Talbot - the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and accommodating at Reception and in Restaurant -the room was clean and airy thanks
We found the Hotel really lovely the staff nice n friendly n helpfully n the food was lovely too. The room was really nice n clean n warm. Would definately reccomend Lidl breaks to family n friends. It was really great value for money n will be back
No complaints about the hotel food and drink was lovely and the kids play dome nextdoor is brilliant
Fabulous hotel very stylish pleasant staff and amazing food can't wait to return.
We had a lovely break in Talbot - the food was lovely and the staff were very friendly and accommodating at Reception and in Restaurant -the room was clean and airy thanks
Really great hotel traveling with children. Great food and staff were very nice. Great value for money will certainly be booking again.
The staff were truly excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. They were kind and helpful.
Very good price when you book through Lidl Breaks, staff are all very helpful.
We had a lovely stay, comfortable, spacious rooms, food reasonable and tasty, a great stay, staff really friendly
Really lovely hotel great food lovely room and very friendly staff.. Definitely will be back .
All the staff were excellent. They went out of their way to make sure that we had a good time. My wife has many gluten free and lactose free needs and they were all looked after by all the staff that we came in contact with.
Brillant hotel great food all the staff are very friendly will be returning very soon
Staff were very friendly and helpful but a little in experienced in bar. Setting up of tables for breakfast in bar from 11seemed very odd and made you feel uncomfortable with some people having no where to sit when arriving at bar or others sitting at table amongst breakfast cups and cutlery. Breakfast was a bit all over the place.having stayed here before some years ago I think breakfast up stairs was much nicer set up. No Gin glasses in bar.Rooms were lovely and comfortable. Average ok experience in every way but won't be rushing back
Had a lovely time at the talbot carlow rooms were very high standard and the staff could not do enough for us will definitely book again
Great service, relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
Great stay and a great price booking with Lidl break's.
Nice hotel for a relaxing break
Bad service in bar and restaurant, same story at breakfast time, pleasant staff but very slow, no covid cert check either..
staff were very helpfull/friendly.room was smashing, food was lovely and entertainment in the bar was very good. overall a very pleasent stay.
Hotel was clean but with a strong smell of air freshener in our room. There was music in the bar which could be heard upstairs.
Lovely hotel but in need of some refurbishing It was a little tired looking Rooms were spacious and clean Staff were very friendly and helpful Food was very tasty Enjoyed our stay
We enjoyed our stay in the Talbot Hotel and would highly recommend a stay there.
We enjoyed our 5 night dinner, B&B. The food was lovely, room was quiet and staff were every friendly. Kids club was excellent and staff were very attentive to the child's needs. However, found the hotel was very busy with some large family groups.
Negatives-poor check in experienced, cold and overcrowded swimming pool, no kids pools, our room faces a main road so noisy when window was opened, very hot rooms Positives-lovely food in the Bistro, very friendly staff in the Bistro and the Dome, The Dome was great for the kids
Great hotel, food was gorgeous, booked everything in advance - dinner , breakfast, pool and the dome , no issues with times or bookings, lovely outdoor dining area too, easy check in and check out
Room was beautiful. Staff was very friendly and service was excellent. Would recommend hotel to friends and family.
We stayed for one night at the Talbot Hotel and were not happy . We highlighted problems to housekeeping in that there were no hand towels, dirty bath towel rolled up in bathroom with long hairs, toothpaste stains in one glass in bathroom, told on check in that time slot was a choice between 7am or 7.15am for breakfast. Emily the duty manager on checkout told us the problems were not logged but she would follow up and email us. As yet we haven't received any email. We were changing into swim wear in room in previous hotel stays , using dressing gown and having shower back in room. Everyone using facilities changed in communal changing rooms.
The food was very good and at a bargain price. The staff were lovely friendly and helpful.
TV channels selection poor. Only 2fm radio. Policy not to service rooms not acceptable. No way to use hairdryer in front of a mirror. Wallpaper peeling off at window. Room clean but tired looking.
Great Hotel, great staff, food was excellant. Will stay again.
Very pleasant stay with Talbot hotel. Very friendly staff, clean and spacious room, nice pool and leisure centre, good choice and quality of food at breakfast and good food in bar. My son (8) loved the pool and dome Would definitely stay here again.
Nice hotel staff were very friendly and food was good a little bit outside of carlow Town about a 20mins walk or 8 euro in a taxi. As a couple going down I found it a little bit out but if you have small kids it seems to be good.
Really nice hotel, very friendly and helpful staff, good food in the bar, comfortable clean rooms, great views from the room also. Would stay here again.
Wonderful stay, with my husband and two year old daughter. We were down for a trip to the Teddy Bears Picnic in Rathwood and couldn't recommend this hotel more. Wonderful big room, very comfy beds and great shower. One little thing we ordered breakfast in bed and only one butter sachet came and they had forgotten our coffees and a juice. But easily fixed and no issues. The Dome next door is also a great asset, and keeps the kids very happy with Jungle Quest and Bowling. All in all a lovely place
Venue was lovely ,bedroom lovely and comfortable . Breakfast was disappointing mushrooms dreadful bacon all dries up ,puddings not much better
Warm welcome, best evening kids club in Ireland I have seen to date ( a tip maybe just watch 2 x 30 minute programmes or something that lasts only 60 minutes for the cinema aspect of the Kids Club from 8-9pm as the time frame does not allow for a full movie? ), Excellent quality food, drinks and service, Good hot food at breakfast, recently upgraded and clean room, high quality leisure centre, nice bar, very family friendly, room bright for a hotel and not uncomfortably hot either, comfortable bed, good facilities nearby, attentive staff, no problem when we were delayed checking out also.
fab hotel . A big thankyou to all the staff from reception to bar staff who were very helpful and friendly. breakfast was fab. will stay here again .
Brilliant hotel , very kid friendly , lovely food and staff were extremely helpful and friendly , I will definitely return again and recommend to friends
We stayed on Friday night after our visit to rathwood. Hotel lovely and staff so so nice and helpful. Would highly recommend.
Very nice hotel. Would stay again.
The Talbot Hotel is modern and the bedrooms are large, clean and comfortable. The staff at reception and in the bar and restaurant are friendly, helpful and efficient. However, despite the above, my husband and I, and indeed the other members of our family who stayed there on a recent visit (4 rooms in total), are not likely to return. The reason for this - there appears to be no hotel policy concerning the control of young children on the premises. There was no area in the hotel where a group could have a quiet drink and a chat in the evenings. Small children ran around the hotel from early morning to late at night and beyond - they were still running around the mezzanine floor, which seems to be regarded as a playground with climbing chairs and climbing tables and climbing book-shelves and a run-around circle route, at 1 a.m. where they managed to wake babies who were asleep in their buggies while their parents drank! At this point we left the corner where we were trying to converse. The foyer area was too cold to sit in for any length. There was music in the bar for those who like music and dance and there were small children there when the music stopped. I have stayed in lots of hotels where there are family groups with small children, but have not encountered any problem, as there is an enforced curfew on the presence of young children in public areas. A comfortable child-free zone in the hotel would be of benefit to hotel guests who are there for a quiet relaxed stay. (Incidentally, I have no problem with children playing and basically "being children" earlier in the day, provided that they are reasonably well behaved.)
Excellent customer service from the moment we arrived. Hotel has lovely decor and the Dome next door is great for kids. You can get a free game of bowling if you spend €50 in the bar - we didn't spend quite as much as €50 but they gave us the voucher anyway which was really nice of them and there is a kids club and a kids movie in the evenings. The Dinner which was included in our package was really tasty the staff in the restaurant were so attentive despite it being really busy with lots of children about. The restaurant staff are a credit to the hotel it really was such an enjoyable meal. Breakfast is the ususal buffet style breakfast - there are lovely views out of the top floor. The room is spacious enough for a family of four. The Pool is great and has a jacuzzi and sauna too All in all we enjoyed our stay here and would recommend for families. Rathwood is a 20 min drive away which I would also recommend for families.
lovely hotel room .food very good.would love to go back.
Myself and my partner stayed in this hotel for a weekend, the staff were courteous and polite. I found the bedroom comfortable, there were stains in carpet which I mentioned to cleaning staff also noise from a wedding could be heard from our room, we were on forth floor,we had asked about a room that was quiet before checking in. The food was of good quality but would have liked a change of choice in the set menu for second night. Overall it was value for money, slight tweeks would be beneficial to the quality of hotel.
A group of 10 of us booked in for an overnight, it was a brilliant experience from start to finish. The staff are out of this world and could nt do enough for us, what a great sense of humour they have. The food was beautiful as well as the service. There was music in the bar on the Saturday night which was top class I will most definitely be back and would recommend to others OHH rooms are lovey big and spacious and spotless Carol with a womens group
Beautiful hotel and outside areas. Panoramic views from every window beautiful. What let the hotel down for me was the crowd was extremely rough. Bit scarey at times. Plus I booked 2 adults 2 children. My room had 1 double and 1 single! We were told all the rooms were the same! So how can u let people book in 2 children when they are not giving u anywhere for them to sleep? Very annoying indeed. Staff were very friendly though.
Stayed for 3 nights. Lovely hotel, comfortable bed and good entertainment the wed night.. the food was nice but sometimes long delay between courses.. staff very friendly on reception , restaurant and in bar. Kids club was great for my daughter really enjoyed it.. it's also very central to lot off things. We really enjoy out stay and would come back. Plus the view from the restaurant is amazing. Miriam, Monaghan
Myself and my wife stayed here for 2 nights and found the hotel very nice and the staff very friendly. Food can be better, but the staff were only to happy to try and fix this for us, I would stay here again, Rooms very big and very clean.
Stayed at tablet hotel in carlow, nice big bedrooms staff very friendly and food very good. Lobby cold not enough comerfortable seats. But a enjoyable stay. Helen
Hotel was lovely rooms were lovely Bar food was nice Restaurant was a disgrace 3 year old kids would have done a better job a couple told us before we even ordered that everything would be mixed up we watched are starter,s go to people who just ordered Green cauliflower we got for Veg Breakfast was the very same 25 min to get a table everyone in the restaurant was asking for a manger
Excellent service Fantastic views on the 4th floor a must see!!!! Dinner so tasty and speedy service Great value for money Breakfast a bit unorganised Spacious family room Pool ok Bar ok
Great Staff, Great Food, Great Service. Booked this hotel for a Thurs and Fri night in late April 2016, on the 2 nights B&B and 1 evening meal deal. Couldn't have been happier with the choice. Staff were friendly and professional throughout our stay and the food was excellent. The food in the bar the first night was beautiful and the bar staff were extremely friendly and engaging. On the Friday night we ate in the restaurant located on the 4th Floor with a great view- although we weren't early enough to get a table by the window! Despite the restaurant being extremely busy, the service was excellent and the food was amazing! Only suggestion I would have is expanding the menu slightly to include a Fillet Steak option. All around a great trip- would definitely recommend and definitely stay again if down that end of the country.
Great hotel, good food in the restaurant
Have not stayed in this hotel for about 4 years, as we felt the hotel ,was very run down. We were delighted to see that hotel had a total revamp, the service was excellent, as was the food, we will definitely be returning soon top marks, well done Talbot Carlow
Had a lovely stay in the hotel.. staff were fantastic, great place for family break. Really enjoyed my few days and will definatley be back.
had a fanastic stay at the Talbot hotel, the rooms were vey spacious and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and polite. The restaurant was very nice and the breakfast was yummy. My son had a great time at the kids club. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be going back
Great deal, meal was really lovely, Hotel was clean and comfortable. very happy with stay.
Hotel facilities were to small for the amount of guest. No seats at breakfast no seats in the bar on all days/ night. We actually missed are evening free meal just to keep are seats in the bar! Staff at breakfast could not cope with the amount of guest also we were a party of 4 adults and 5 kids and could not sit together for breakfast also an hour waiting on tea/coffee (should have a self service for this at breakfast) hotel needs updating ie toilet seats in room and leisure area. Staff are very friendly. Staff make this hotel good.
Stayed on a one night break. Rooms were very comfortable, dinner was lovely and breakfast was very good. The staff were excellent. It makes a nice change it here a manager thank his staff for doing stuff. I heard him twice asking staff to do something and sayings thanks. Would recommend this hotel.
really rate this hotel very high the staff were brilliant and very helpful and friendly the food was great and the room was spotless
Pool very cold, could hear music late into the night and we were staying in a family room so very distributive
Had a lovely stay in this hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was so clean and bed was very comfortable. Food in bar was lovely good choice on the menu meets every type of person. Would stay again.
Reception staff are fantastic, rooms were clean, bar food was lovely .. we enjoyed our stay.
Great hotel. Lovely food in both the bar & restaurant. Reception staff very helpful. Rooms are modern & clean. Will be returning. Excellent value for money.
We booked a weekend away with our neighbors to celebrate a special birthday. We mentioned the occasion to the hotel staff and they couldn't do enough for us. The rooms were excellent and the food was first class all the time. A warm atmosphere in a well run establishment. Music in the bar both nights was great adding to our enjoyment of the bar. We'll be back!
We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights (Saturday/Sunday). Check-in took absolutely no time. Prior to our arrival they had the room allocated and keys were ready. Room was very spacious with comfy beds and goose feather duvets. We booked hotel stay with dinner and the food in the restaurant was extremely nice: from presentation to taste and service. The only negative is there was a wedding at the hotel on both nights and our room was located in the same part of the hotel. The hotel is an "L" shape, so it could have been avoided by putting us in the room in the far end of the hotel. Restaurant is quite small, so the breakfast room was extremely busy in the morning as there were loads of guests from the wedding party from the night before. I would suggest to serve breakfast for the wedding party in a separate conference/meeting room. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Hotel staff was really nice and we will definitely come back.
lovely stay with my husband are our two children (3yr & 2yr). Staff very friendly. Will be back
A nice clean hotel with very friendly and efficient staff in general. Not a 4 star hotel though, possibly 3 star. The kitchen is bordering on an old fashioned 2 star and very dated in menu. There is no breakfast menu, if you don't see it you don't get it. In a lovely location and about 2 km from the town.
A good hotel for family breaks. Friendly helpful staff, nice food and plots to do in the area.
Lovely Staff (couldn't do enough for you), Food was great, Great location, Room was nice, Great for kids - movie each night as well as kids club in the Dome playzone - only negative we were above the smoking area and as we had children with us the noise was a bit of a pain at nght
Really enjoyed our stay here.. We were part of a group (9 adults and 3 children). The hotel went out of their way to make us all feel welcome. A big thank you to Amanda at reception for all her assistance. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant.. the service was a little slow but we didn't complain and enjoyed it. Food was top class and the choice was good. There was music in the bar on the Friday night and that was good fun and an unexpected bonus. Hotel rooms were lovely, spacious and modern, staff were so helpful that even the restaurant manager offered to assist me with my luggage. Thanks to all in the Talbot Carlow for a wonderful stay... we will definitely be back!!
Great holiday for families and great and well mannered staff.
Lovely family night here at Talbot, only complaint is that the hotel was packed with communions and confirmations, lot of children running around and at night we were over the smoking area and we could hear talking and shouting all night.
MY sister and i and 2 children stayed here in October 2014 . The hotel was lovely ,it is in a good location and about a 2 min drive to the center. the staff were helpful and we ate in the hotel every night as the food was lovely . The rooms were lovely . What really did it for us was the fact that the hotel is really child friendly and had a fantastic kids club ,which meant my sister and i could relax . I have only one complaint ; the breakfast area was a nightmare there was loads of used tables and there was a lot of people in the hall waiting as there was not enough staff to clean the tables, in saying that the breakfast was beautiful .I would recommend staying here and we will come back to the Talbot hotel again .
We had a lovely stay at the Talbot Hotel Carlow.Travelling with a large family group the Hotel was very nice spotlessly clean and room sizes were great. The food was very nice and the staff were also very pleasant. There,s plenty to do for children with free use of the leisure centre and right beside hotel was a bowling alley pool table and games arcade and kids entertainment club so you do get some me time. Our only disappointment was the fact you had to leave the bar by 10pm with children and move to the 1st floor where you could order bar service. We didnt have young children but a family member had teenagers soit meant when they left we also had to leave with them. We go away every christmas and never experience this so it was quite a shock to learn this on our 1st evening. Some residents on the 1st floor were unhappy with the noise from the children running round so the problem was ongoing. Outside of that it was a lovely break but unfortunately we couldnt return unless the policy changes.
We spent one night in this hotel, had dinner and breakfast. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We will be back for a longer stay.
We stayed for 1 night and we loved it - from the lovely ladies at reception to the barmen and then the Chef who gets a gold star in our house - my son is dairyfree and the chef marked the menu as to what he could have and asked what he want for breakfast. The rooms are lovely and spacious and the bathroom had a bath and shower combined and the toileties. The leisure centre was lovely and we got to visit it twice - the restaurant is on the 4th floor and we sat over by the window and had a lovely view over the countryside. The food was lovely. We will be back as we really loved our mini break and couldnt thank all the staff enough
Rosemary Dundalk We had a lovely stay in the Talbot Hotel June 15th-18th, All the staff were very helpful and pleasent The food was great Breakfast and evening meal, also we had a lovely room, the pool and gym were great, I would recommend the Talbot hotel for a break, It was my first time in Carlow it is a lovely town .
Very impressed my second time to stay in this hotel. The food was amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will be back again soon.
Just back from the Talbot Hotel in Carlow with my husband and eight year old daughter. We had a fantastic stay. The Staff were all excellent and most helpful. Our room was lovely on the 2nd floor. The restaurant is on the 4th floor with fabulous views out over the surrounding farmland. The food was delicious and of a very high standard, and plenty of choice both at breakfast and dinner. Finally the leisure facilities were also excellent. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a break away and we will without doubt return.
Enjoyed our stay good food , friendly staff & kids enjoyed the kids club. They were disappointed to discover the Dome next door was closed down such a pity was a great place so close to the hotel hope it opens soon .
Everything was brilliant - except the constant and outrageously noisy drilling on the last day!! very, very painful!
Staff couldn't do enough for us. Great food. I know maintenance is necessary, but pity about drilling at front door from far too early in the morning. Hopefully next time we go this will be completed.
Receptionist was friendly and welcoming as were any of the staff that we interacted with. room was big and clean but a tad dated. there was only one towel in the room but i am sure this was just an error and would have been rectified had I brought it to the attention of the staff. Little touch ups in worn areas would go along way, ie touch of paint or some suitable product on the bed base as my eye was drawn to it. overall this is a good hotel, dinner and breakfast were good also.
A great hotel and very friendly, accommodating staff, but they were quite understaffed owing to the hotel being full. This did lead to a little service delay at times, but the staff's candidness was appreciated . They worked hard. The pool and gym area was great. The hotel is not a walkable distance from the town centre, however. A great hotel and great value for money.
Great one night break away. Fine sized room with double and single bed. Breakfast was lovely, with plenty of options from cereals to breads to hot food. Pool and gym good too. We had dinner at the hotel although we were only b&b and thought it was great value for four courses €50 for two. Again lovely choices and delicious. All in all a lovely break.
We had a great stay in the Talbot Carlow, rooms were spacious and clean, staff were good, food and drink excellent. My only negative is we only had 1 towel in a Triple room and it took one phone call and a visit down to reception to get a couple more.
Myself and my extended family stayed in this hotel for an overnight break. The staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. The restaurant served excellent food and again the service was excellent. Would definitely go back.
We stayed over for 1 night at the Talbot hotel, booked a family room. The purpose of our stay was a 40th.."Happy Birthday Mary". We had a great time, food at dinner and breakfast was very nice. The staff where lovely the only thing I would say is that the lobbies could be freshened up, carpet and walls freshened up. Not dirty though! We also had some noisy Saturday nighter's and when we rang reception they addressed the issue immediately! I would stay again and I would recommend this hotel to friends. Thank you for a lovely stay!
Couldn't fault this hotel at all , staff very friendly , rooms lovely , great pool and the food is amazing. We've stayed here before , so we knew what to expect . We would definitely return again , our children even love this place ..
Myself and two friends stayed at this hotel for 1 night ; we had lunch in the bar and also dinner later , both were lovely. The staff were so friendly. The bedrooms were very spacious. There was live music in the bar in the evening and that was excellent ! All in all an excellent stay and a good location. Jennifer - Dublin
I stayed in the Talbot last Saturday. Lovely hotel, very clean.Room was big and again was spotless. Dinner/breakfast were great-better than I expected. All staff were excellent ,chatty and very polite.I have no complaints.Would stay here again without a doubt.
We really liked the Talbot in Carlow. Very large rooms, lovely food, friendly staff, nice views from dining room on 4th floor, excellent leisure facilities, clean and modern hotel, fabulous value. Will be back again!
We really enjoyed our stay; the room was modern, clean, large and very spacious. The food was excellent but there was a but! The restaurant was extremely busy on the particular night we stayed as the hotel was offering fantastic overnight offers for the month of January. However, we did not mind, we waited for the hour in the bar until the manager came to the bar to let us know our table was now ready & we were offered 2 free drinks to compensate for the wait. Breakfast was lovely & the leisure facilities were great. It was great value. Most importantly of all, the staff could not have been friendlier, the customer service is of an outstanding standard. I would recommend the Talbot hotel to anyone.
staff were excellent food good- room warm and cosy highly recommend
Lovely stay at this hotel, hazel at reception was very welcoming and helpful, the rooms were very clean and spacious, the dinner and breakfast were delicious and plentiful, and again the service in food and beverage was very commendable, bar staff and entertainment were also on a par, swimming and sauna and Jacuzzi rounded off a very enjoyable stay at this hotel. The only negative would be that another television would benefit the bar area for the luxury of having a choice of what to watch when two sporting events are on at similar times, it keeps everyone happy!
very pleased with this hotel, staff very friendly and pleasent, we are always on the lookout for good value and this lidl break hotel was excellent value, will be using this site again and also recommending it
Good hotel, friendly efficient staff. Food in restaurant is tasty. Limited menu but this results in fresh good food. Family friendly. The food in the bar and bistro very good. Would stay here again.
Honestly I was so disappointed with this hotel - we arrived to our room to discover we had no towels - Went to reception requested towels and they sent 2 bath towels to a room with was booked for 3 adults - we phoned reception to ask for more towels they told us they would be sent straight away 40 minutes later and 3 phone calls to reception the towels arrived - Breakfast was a disaster I ordered poached eggs which never arrived - Ive stayed at this hotel in the past but would not return the standards really have dropped. Sheena
Family room advertised is a standard room with a fold out bed. Too small for a family of four and in need of some maintenance. Breakfast was all pre-cooked so only warm and not very tasty. Food in the restaurant very poor and children not well catered for. Pool okay but again no facilities for children and only a very tiny shallow area designated for them. Bar and bar staff very nice and extremely efficient. Receptionist at Check-in/out also very pleasant. Restaurant staff (waitress)very nice but service was painfully slow, food was less than satisfactory and manager contradicted our comments on the quality of food. Had we not pre paid we would have refused the food we were served and went elsewhere.
Excellent Hotel. Staff very friendly. Would highly recommend
Great hotel. Family friendly. Kids loved the pool & the kids clubs. Food was lovely. & good selection. Didn't have to leave the area in which the hotel is situated. Kids play dome with bowling and diner right next door. Also couple of shops (eg dunnes) on the back too. Will return soon for another stay!
Great hotel for families. Very friendly. We used beauty salon, pool, kids club, bar and they were all great. The family room was fantastic, great size. We popped next door to The Dome for a couple of hours - kids loved it. Hotel staff are very friendly no matter what dept they were from and the whole weekend was brilliant.
easy to found, clean and child friendly on the plus-side. understaffed, slow in service, broken telly necessary as we stayed in a fam room with two kids, pool cold .. on the negative side. would i go back? probably not
Lovely hotel, staff very friendly. A bit disappointed with the restaurant food-for a 4star hotel, the choice and quality were only good and not excellent. Room very spacious-very happy with this. Thanks Lidl breaks and Talbot hotel for a very relaxing weekend break in October 2013.
Many thanks to all involved in the organisation of these short and very good value breaks. we took our family of ten adults and two children[grandchildren ] to celebrate a special birthday and all had wonderful time.and promise to return in the near future Michael okeeffe Dublin
Really enjoyed our stay at the Talbot Hotel Carlow. The staff make this hotel, they are friendly, helpful and efficient in every part of the hotel. Food in the restaurant was lovely and I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family as an enjoyable place to stay.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Talbot in Carlow. The receptions staff were brilliant. They were so friendly and helpful. The bar food was lovely, reasonable priced and tasty. The bedrooms are very spacious and clean. We ate in the restaurant one night, it had a good atmosphere and the food was tasty. I would recommend the Talbot for a family weekend or for a group of ladies/hens. The pool area is nice, however, could be a little cleaner. The only part that is a let down in the hotel is the beauty saloon.
excelent hotel with great facilities staff were extremely friendly and we would have no hesitation in returning
Very pleasant stay, nice location, lots of facilities.
I would highly recommend a stay at the Talbot Hotel. Staff at the hotel very friendly and extremely helpful. I changed dinner reservations 3 times on one night and it was accommodated with no fuss. A special to Sharon and Michael in the bar. Overall a very pleasant stay, good food, clean room ample parking and nice atmosphere.
We had a very pleasent Saturday night stay in the Carlow Talbot. Check in staff could not have been more helpful. Lots of suggestions for our stay in Carlow. we were put in the killeshan suite which was a very pleasent suprise. lots of space and comfort. Evening dinner and breakfast were delightful. The bar entertainment ment we had no reason to venture into the town centre. overall 4 stars
Very pleasant stay here on Bank Holiday Sunday with the wife and our 16 month old. The room is basic but very spacious and the swimming pool is small but nice. Has everything you could want for a family break and would strongly recommend it for any familys looking for a short break away. Big family dome centre next door to hotel with Bowling, Arcades and Fun Play Area and its very reasonable on price! Food decent in the bar for snacks but plenty of nice bar / resturants in Carlow town which is only 5 mins down the road from the hotel. All in All very well priced break at €78 for the night B&B for 2 adults and 1 child
Very family friendly, staff were very friendly both to adults and the kids. Great location beside the Dome and the leisure facilities were very good. Will definitely be arranging a return visit.
Really enjoyed my stay in the talbot hotel .. very nice hotel
This hotel was good for an overnight break away from Dublin. The rooms were spacious clean and pleasant. We dined at the restaurant, the staff were helpful although I think they could have done with a little extra training or direction. The food was lovely and we would go back to this hotel again.
Stayed here for one night and what an experience. When we checked in, we were asked to book dinner and as 9pm wasn't available, we agreed on 8.30pm. On arrival to the restaurant, we were asked to wait in the freezing cold corridor until our table was ready (15 mins later!). As you can imagine this was very frustrating as the restaurant was nowhere near full capacity with plenty of empty tables. The menu selection was very limited but the food and service itself were ok. Next stop was the bar which now by the looks of last night has adopted a byob policy! I bet the bar ran out of pints of ice last night but it was the local off licences who were making the money! On return to our room, we were met by unsupervised kids running up and down the corridor banging on room doors. This was still happening 20 minutes later so we phoned reception and asked them to address the issue to no avail. The later it got, the noisier the kids became so I phoned reception a second time and was advised that the manager would address the issue. Needless to say NOTHING was done by this phantom night manager! Finally got to sleep and was awoken by the same children doing the same thing this morning at 7.30am! We ordered breakfast to our room and it never arrived and when I phoned, I was told they had not received our order which was no doubt removed from our door as a 'joke' by another guest. Overall, our experience at this hotel was dreadful and whilst I have never left a bad review for a hotel before, I feel anyone who's looking to spend their hard earned money on a break away should avoid this hotel at all costs.
We stayed as a family at The Talbot and found it brilliant value for money. Rooms were spotless and spacious, food is average but nice (ease up on the chopped peppers & parsley garnish!) breakfast is really good. Staff are wonderful and friendly except for one or two surly curt senior staff at reception and bar who could do with refresher training in customer relations. Overall fantastic for families and would absolutely recommend this hotel.
very enjoyable stay.....definitely recommend this hotel to families, kids club and leisure centre great fun, ideally located for The Dome ....great value for money....will definitely book this hotel again!!
I had booked a triple room and when I rang up was advised that it was a double and single bed. The hotel accommodated us by putting a 3rd bed in the room. Dinner was very good. I had steak and it was very tender. Vegetables were lovely too. There was a guy playing in the bar the night we stayed. Although there were only a few guests in the bar, he did a great job. He engaged with us all. The only complaint I would have (and it's only a minor complaint) is that it took us a while to get served our tea and toast at breakfast. I would recommend the Talbot Hotel.
Could not recomend this hotel highly enough, staff were really friendly and welcoming. rooms were lovley and very quiet. stayed with the missus and two kids and even the camp bed was a proper comfortable bed for the little one. its right next door to a fantastice family fun centre which was great fun and we were advised about rancho reillys nearby which is a little pet farm with other things for the kids. Hotel manager even came around to chat with everyone in the bar and to say hello. lots of little things come together here to make it one of the best weekend breaks i''ve had in a hotel in Ireland and i've been to most countys at this stage Adam, Dublin
Lovely hotel - Bistro Bar staff were all over the place had to ask a few times for different food that was ordered. I booked a room for 2 adults and 2 children had to ask twice for other bed, daughter was annoyed had a fear of no where to sleep. Food in restaurant was lovely.. very nice Overall - nice comfartable hotel
We had an absolutely fabulous time at the Talbot Hotel in Carlow - the staff could not do enough to accomodate us and special thanks to Hazel, Nicola and Lorraine at reception. Excellent value for money and rooms spotlessly clean. Will definitely be returning to the Talbot. Highly recommended!
