I had such a lovely time here. Everyone was friendly and very welcoming, the food was amazing, the room was clean and the atmosphere was calm and relaxed. The area is really quiet which was exactly what I wanted. I'll definitely be back!

Friendly staff ,good food. On negative side ,we stayed in room 19.we had to listen to a Xmas party ,shouting ,music etc.. until 4am. Wouldn't visit again

Myself and my husband booked this hotel for 2 nights after reading the great reviews on trip advisor. As we were on a Lidl break we had to order dinner off the specials menu. I asked the waitress could I order from the regular menu and pay the difference. She said she would speak to the chef and find out. She came back a few minutes later and told us that we could. If we ordered a starter it would be an extra €4 and if we ordered a main course if would be an extra €8!!!!!!!! The difference in price on average between the two menus was only about 3 or 4 euro.(with the exception of steak) I thought it was very cheeky of the chef the charge €8.

Interior a little outdated but clean. Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Bedrooms clean, comfortable and spacious. Lovely food. Hotel ideally situated for tourists. Would stay there again.

Dee scored 5 / 5 on 03/11/2015

The Danby Lodge is a lovely, clean place to stay. The staff are very helpful. Breakfast was delicious. 5 stars is my rating. The only complaint I have doesn't really involve the hotel. The taxi which was ordered for us to take us to Whitford House cost €19.00 with Maria. This was indeed an overcharge because we travelled back out to The Danby Lodge at 1am from the centre of Wexford town (which is 4km farther away) for €15.00. So possibly the people at The Danby Lodge Hotel should be aware of this.

Marie scored 2 / 5 on 20/10/2015

Not a great experience. The room was on the side of the main roadway so there was traffic noise. The room beside us had children unattended until 1am! A man arrived every hour or so to give out to them and then took off again (I think there was a family gathering in the hotel and the children were all left in one room). The room itself was spacious and the beds comfortable. It was warm. However, the bedside lockers and table were not even dusted. Breakfast was basic. Would not stay there again.

David scored 5 / 5 on 13/10/2015

This was a very positive experience for both of us. The room was spotless and very well appointed for a 3*. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was excellent and I must state that Danby Lodge Hotel was the cleanest hotel that we have ever stayed in, both at home and overseas. The dinner menu was good and the actual meal that we had was delicious, with attentive and courteous staff. The management seem to be very effective and this is reflected in the staff who appear to be very well motivated and enthusiastic about their roles. I would highly recommend Danby Lodge Hotel in addition to the very good value for money that it offers.

Emma scored 4 / 5 on 08/04/2015

We were a group of 7 (adults and children and the family pet), the rooms were very clean, warm and comfortable. We had dinner in the bar and it was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful esp. when recommending attractions for the family to visit. Would recommend the Danby Lodge without hesitation.

Found the hotel in a good location. easy access to Rosslare beach 2 km approx in car. Friendly staff. Very nice choice of Breakfast Friendly helpful staff. Room cosy and spacious for family room. Small park ideal for kids under 6 years. Would recommend Hotel.

I normally wouldn't give bad reviews, not to this extent anyway, but this is an exception. We stayed in room 30. Cons: Room was freezing, a portable heater had to be brought down. Both of us got a cold from the room. Large hole in the bathroom, which was very cold too. Shower was stuck, as it looked like it hadn't been used in a long time. UHT milk was gone off. Walls were bare. View was terrible TV was held onto the bracket with a strap. There was a bloody tissue outside our room. No trouser press. Pros: Food was very nice. Staff were very friendly.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Danby Lodge Hotel . The staff were very friendly and attentive .The rooms were so warm and cosy and we were really made feel at home. Its a great location you are close to great places for family fun. We will definetly be returning

Ear scored 2 / 5 on 16/09/2014

It is a reasonably good place to stay given the cost. There are few things that could be improved- bath room shower and toilet flush.

Cahillers scored 4 / 5 on 09/09/2014

The Staff are probably the nicest and most helpful I have met in any hotel ,it was like being looked after by a team of Mammy's. Food was really tasty and well presented and breakfast was plentiful and tasty too. The only downside was the outdated rooms and beds which could do with a makeover but aside from that I would return to the Danby lodge.

Fergus scored 4 / 5 on 01/09/2014

For what you're paying Danby Lodge is very good value. The service was excellent and the staff were very pleasant. It is a very basic hotel so don't expect anything more. The room was clean, bed was comfortable and the shower worked!! It exceeded my expectations...

Mieke scored 5 / 5 on 13/08/2014

Very good hotel, we had a very good experience in the hotel as the rooms were beautiful and suitable for a family. The staff was very friendly. Having a playground next to hote;l was just brilliant, more hotels should do that.

They were showing the the world cup matches in the bar which was handy. Dinner was nice. Room clean and we had an accessible room which was close to the parking space which made it handy for us.

Ann scored 3 / 5 on 04/06/2014

We had a lovely one night stay at the Denby Hotel. Staff were very friendly. The accomadation was very nice and clean. The only thing I would fault was the dining area it needs to be revamp as it was very cold and uninviting. We had dinner there and although the food was ok a little more effort could be made with presentation for example table cloths and candles would be nice as I was celebrating my birthday I was a little over dressed for the plain dining area. Over all it was nice.

Reggie scored 4 / 5 on 07/05/2014

We recently spent the May Bank Holiday at this hotel, 3 days and 2 nights. We were given a garden room, although a little away from the main hotel, we were pleased, not only with a spacious area but nice a quiet. The only let down in the room was the TV 12" Portable hung high on the wall, if they cant be updated, take them down. The bar area requires updating and would have benefited from some entertainment on Saturday night as there was a good crowd with nothing really to do except watch the telly, should have been switched off. The staff were really friendly, helpful and efficient and did everything to make our stay pleasant. The food was excellent good quality, fresh and good portions. Overall, we had a good stay despite the weather, and would return to this hotel if we were in Wexford again.

Miffy scored 1 / 5 on 09/04/2014

Would be a no star review if possible. We booked this hotel thru lidl breaks and paid a deposit. We specified late arrival on the booking form. We were therefore shocked and disappointed when we pulled up at 10pm (after a long drive and a hectic day) to a dark and empty hotel. No one would answer the phone and the one person we found who appeared to be working on site didn't know anything about our booking and refused to put us through to anyone who might!! Awful awful awful. Luckily we found a lovely room at the Rosslare hotel (and it was cheaper!!) Hope to see refund asap, Lidl :-(

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Danby Lodge, the room was large, very clean and well presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful, dinner was tasty and very large portions. We would stay at the Danby Lodge again.

It was a pleasure to stay in your hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful, they had a good knowledge of what to do and where to go locally. Our room was nicely furnished and very clean. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Dominic scored 4 / 5 on 02/10/2013

This was a pleasant stay, stopped off with my family as I was attending an event nearby. Staff were friendly, food was nice, although there could've been a better selection, restaurant and bar were quite, so I'm sure there's a balance to be found there. Room was clean, but a little dated, the family room was a good size with 2 full size single beds to accompany the double bed. Recommend for a short stay.

Neasa scored 3 / 5 on 15/08/2013

Hotel staff friendly, rooms spotless. Evening meal was a little dissappointing. We were seated in breakfast dining room away from bar and atmosphere and felt a little excluded. Hotel lacking a comfortable lobby where people can sit and relax apart from the bar.

Phil scored 4 / 5 on 10/07/2013

We stayed for one night in Danby Lodge. It was not as I expected, the property was very nice, our room was very large and stylish, the staff were very warm and welcoming, and the food .....well, I felt they were serving me my last meal ever! Massive feed. Great location too, so close to carne beach one side and Wexford town on 5-10 minutes. Highly recommend for the value.

Connie scored 2 / 5 on 10/07/2013

Very disappointed with the hotel. The pictures for the website are all taken from an angle that don't show the busy road in front. The lady at reception was not overly friendly but that was maybe due to being busy. We got room no 10 with a tiny window. When we went to open it, we discovered why it was so tiny - the kitchen extractor fan is right next to it and was unbelievably noisy. Even with closed window it felt like being on a transatlantic flight. We gave up after a few minutes and went down to reception to ask for a different room. First we were told that there is none available but after we insisted we got a room in the old garden extension part with a "lovely" view to an old oil tank and some rubble. At least it was quiet but the room was very outdated. All in all a rather disappointing hotel.

hi there, we have just returned after a weekend in the danby lodge hotel. i have never met such helpful pleasant staff in any hotel. just exceptional. the accomodation was spotlessly clean and was so near the beautiful beaches nearby. i hope the staff are shown these complimentary comments as they deserve. the praise. we will definitely be back :-) thank you. martina.

Ken scored 4 / 5 on 18/06/2013

Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Food was very nice, I don't usually eat Salmon but enjoyed it immensely here. The hotel is kept well with the rooms bright and clean. The plumbing is an issue as we had problems with our shower, but this was rectified in a highly professional manner. Overall, a very nice hotel and highly enjoyable.

Therese scored 1 / 5 on 18/05/2013

We didn't stay. It was not a suitable hotel for a family with young children. The restaurant was closed which we had not been made aware of and told we could eat in the bar. This was not an option as the bar was dark and dingy and not very clean. We also seemed to be the only guests at the hotel. The room was very dated. We left 30 mins after arriving when we realised there was nothing for children. We checked into another hotel nearby.

Chris scored 4 / 5 on 30/04/2013

Staying at Danby lodge hotel is highly recommended, the staff service and friendliness, the cleanliness of the room; are satisfactory. But except for one the toilet at Room 22, is very hard to flush, I think it need to change the pump or maybe the pressure of the water is to slow other than that everything are excellent. Thank you very much.

Hi all, Really, really enjoyed my overnight stay in the Danby Lodge in beautiful Rosslare. I really prefer old buildings like this with a history. I even had a peek at Francis Danby's paintings on my return, they are fascinating. The food was very, very good, the staff courteous, polite, but not in an interfering way & the peace & quite was wonderful. Value for money was excellent, got a great brekkie & the offer of complimentery toileteries or whatever you might have forgotten was certainly a bonus. I loved it & beautiful Rosslare & only wished that I could have spent a week there but definitely as Arnie would say ''I'll be back'.

Miriam scored 4 / 5 on 09/10/2012

What can I say, only that my family and I enjoyed a lovely weekend in The Danby Lodge Hotel. From the moment we arrived we got a very warm welcome. The hotel itself is very homely. The food was fantastic, our compliments to the chef. Very clean and any request we had was met with courtesy. The hotel was spotless and excellent service from all staff. I wouldnt hesitate recommending this hotel to any of my friends or family and look forward to another stay soon. The only downfall was that we couldnt stay longer. A Big Thank You to all the staff in The Danby Lodge. The Curley Family

We have little money to spare these days, so decided to stay local for just a few days away on our 30th wedding anniversary. The whole experience was a real pleasure. The most friendly staff (not a one of them wasn't friendly and accommodating), ample food for all meals (and always piping hot), and clean well-presented rooms. Even the emergency fire situation (someone tried smoking in their room despite the clear warning notices) was handled proficiently and full information swiftly shared with all visitors. We'd happily recommend Danby Lodge to anyone, and plan to return again. Thank you Lidl for a reasonably priced hotel stay! P.& M. Halford

We stayed at the Danby Lodge on way to the ferry at Rosslare, and a number of the guests seemed to be doing same. Its a basic hotel. Service was excellent thoughout, the room was comfortable, clean and warm and the food we had was very good. The bar/dining area, while comfortable enough, could do with a facelift and some re-organising or redesign - a little bit of work would make a big difference. Lidl breaks are proving to be great value - this was our fourth booking and we have never been disappointed.

Martina scored 5 / 5 on 27/04/2011

Would def recommend this hotel, went with my daughter she is six, they even had a bouncing castle she had a ball, will def go back again. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. Food was delicious. Well worth the cost

What a disappointment! A tiny room in the Courtyard, with little or no space to hang or store clothes. Tiny shower room with lino on floor.Heating pipes behind the bed which went tap in the night, and kept us awake. Food fine ,staff fine, accommodation dreadful.

Sonia scored 5 / 5 on 27/10/2010

Excellent. Great value for money. The hotel was spotless. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. The bar food was great value for money too. I would definately go back to the hotel. The Lidl-breaks are excellent for holidaying with a family of young children in Ireland.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Danby Lodge hotel (May Bank Holiday). The staff in general were very friendly and efficient. As we had arrived late in the evening,we tried out the bar menu and were very pleasantly surprised. My partner ordered the seafood chowder and I ordered a chicken and stuffing panini. The chowder was delicious with a generous basket of bread and the panini was served alongside a copious amount of chunky chips and lovely dressed salad. The latter was definitely a meal in itself!.The tab for the meal, which included two beers, was uncommonly reasonable. That set the stage for the continued culinary skills of the kitchen, which continued to impress throughout our stay. Our compliments. Regarding our accommodation, it was quite basic. It was located in the scenic courtyard but sadly we had no view, as it was a corner room. It also lacked sufficient storage for items that do not live on hangers, and only a couple of snowy terrestrial channels on the TV. On a brighter note,we both appreciated the tea and coffee station with a selection of complimentary biscuits. Finally, the staff were more than helpful in identifying local places of interest.

THE HOTEL RECEPTION STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY. WE WERE CHECKED IN AND GIVEN OUR VOUCHERS FOR DINNER AND BREAKFAST, THE STAFF WERE VERY EFFICENT. THE ROOM WAS LOVELY AND BIG AND VERY COMFORTABLE. WE HAD DRINKS IN THE BAR BEFORE DINNER, A REALLY NICE ATMOSPHERE. THE DINNER WAS VERY NICE. WE WERE ON THE 0900 FERRY BACK TO ENGLAND, WE WERE DOWN FOR BREAKFAST AT 0700, THERE WAS A GOOD CHOICE OF CEREALS, JUICES, BUT THE COOKED BREAKFAST AND TOAST WERE COLD. OVERALL APART FROM THE COOKED BREAKFAST, WE WERE VERY PLEASED WITH OUR STAY, AND THOUGHT WE HAD VERY GOOD VALUE FOR WHAT WE PAID. 4 STARS OUT OF 5

Orla scored 5 / 5 on 09/07/2010

2/5 The hotel looks in the photos as if it's set in rolling fields, in fact its on a busy main road. There is a bar with no atmosphere and an adjoining cafe/restaurant. There's nothing within walking distance, but its fine if you're just looking for accommodation for a night. The rooms themselves are very basic, but clean. We checked out a night early as there was the afters of a wedding party in the hotel on the first night we stayed. the music in the bar (a DJ and about 10 people) went on until 2.30am and then the sin ging strarted and lasted til 4am. We did ask the porter on duty (no one else about) to finish it earlier or offer another room to us but he was only a young guy who didn't seem to know how to handle out complaint. Our room was over the bar. All in all, we'd avoid this hotel!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Danby. The rooms were basic but comfortable. The food was good and if you wanted seconds it was not a problem. But it was the friendly and pleasant staff that made our break so enjoyable. They were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
