Had a wonderful 2 night stay at this fantastic hotel. Ideal for a relaxing experience away from the hustle and bustle of life in a beautiful serene place. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful indeed. Very professionally run hotel and I highly recommend it for a stay.

We were allocated a room adjacent to the lift, which would have been noisy and really only qualifies as a single room it was so small. We weren't happy but the accommodation manager did offer us a different room. Other than this, staff in the restaurant, breakfast room and bar were superb. We had a lovely weekend.

Sheila scored 4 / 5 on 08/09/2020

Very happy with the ‘covid’ measures- I felt safe. Very friendly and obliging staff. Prices great. Food great- we had Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Water did not heat for shower. Receptionist apologised and said we should have rang down and maintenance would have been called. However I was in towel at time 10 mins before breakfast booking and room phone didn’t work! Otherwise all good

The hotel was fabulous. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Kids really enjoyed the kids club from 5.30 till 9pm, great break for mum and Dad to sit back and relax. Food was lovely also and the breakfast was great. Will definitely be visiting here again. Best experience we have had with a hotel bringing our kids...

Beautiful hotel grounds overlooking lake. Family room standard, clean and comfortable. Staff very pleasant. Not very keen on the food, breakfast was poor and dinner was bland (horrible stack of chips). Not enough staff at breakfast. Other than that it was really nice place to get away. Walks around the lake are the highlights!

Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the service was excellent especially considering the current conditions they are working under. Food was amazing, we had breakfast lunch and dinner in the hotel and it was gorgeous. I used the pool and the gym too and booking was easy and there was no issues with the new restrictions. Delighted with our stay at the hotel and will be returning again soon, great to be able to order a pint and some food and watch the football then enjoy the hotel entertainment in the evening, excellent job.

Had a great one night stay, our first since we had our baby nine weeks ago. The room was spacious and had a cot as requested. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and the room service food was delicious, as was the hearty breakfast. Lovely grounds and we managed a walk by the lake before leaving. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we hope to be back soon. Many from Derek, Deirdre and baby Niall from Tipperary.

Just back from a super weekend break at Bloomfield House Hotel. I was welcomed with a birthday card and hand made cookies in my room on arrival, organised by the lovely, friendly & efficient staff! thank you! Hotel had great facilites, lovely leisure centre & pool at perfect temperature, night time singsong in the bar, great breakfast choices & tasty food, very pretty grounds with lake views and close to Mullingar town with lovely shops & eateries. Also got discounted rate to visit Belvedere House which was lovely. We didn't have kids with us, but it was very child-friendly. I hadn't heard of this hotel before our visit, but i would definitely recommend it.

Hi ,stayed in the Bloomfield House Hotel last Friday night on the 19th June 2015 .The service and customer care was excellent, and it was really all about customer care .We were there with our two daughters ,and as it was one of our daughters birthday ,they added little extras in her room ,which was a lovely surprise and a delight. It really was one of the nicest hotels we have ever been in, and we would like to thank everyone for all their hard work ,to the bar staff, receptionists, and waiters and waitresses . Regards Mary.

I went for a midweek break with my mother and it was just what we needed. Lovely romantic spot, I'd highly recommend it for couples etc. Very peaceful and beautiful location on the lake. Friendly staff. Food was lovely and plentiful in the restaurant the first night and in the bar the second night.

Susan scored 5 / 5 on 15/06/2015

We recently stayed in the Bloomfield House Hotel for the third time and we look forward to returning there again in the near future for another mini break. The hotel caters for couples and families and there is a lovely relaxed ambiance about the place. The setting overlooking Lough Ennell lake is breathtaking. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We opted for a mini break inclusive package, bed/breakfast and evening meal, which we found to be extremely good value, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and efficient. Although we didn't have young children with us I did notice that they were very well catered for with a bouncy castle and various other activities being organised for them by dedicated staff members. While there I availed of the swimming pool facilities as a pool is an important feature for me when going away on a short break. I am a regular swimming and I found the pool to be a good size of approximately 20 metres in length. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to get away to a beautiful country setting and rejuvenate themselves from the pressures of life.

We arrived on a bank holiday Sunday and found staff very helpful and friendly. The room was brighy and airy and very clean. Bar ataff were very attentive and efficient. Food and drink was not over priced. Breakfast was great, wide choice and hot. Rating of 4.5 /5. (Our room was beside the elevator, which made it a little noisy).

Tomas scored 5 / 5 on 03/08/2014

I was so happy with my stay. The kids club and lakes alongside the friendly staff and spacious family room was so comforting for us adults with busy kids. My only criticism is that the rendering on the outside of the building makes the initial impression that the hotel is dated and lets down the first impressions which after that was absolutely fab. Well done guys!

Mary scored 5 / 5 on 01/08/2014

We really enjoyed our one night stay here. The bedroom was comfortable. We enjoyed the walk around the lake and garden. There were plenty of facilities for the younger child. The food in the restaurant was excellent but this was "let down" by the "machine" coffee. Why hotels cannot provide ground coffee in a pot is beyond me! That is a minor complaint and overall we really enjoyed this hotel - the staff were friendly and attentive and we would love to stay here again.

Mark scored 4 / 5 on 01/08/2014

overall it was very good and it was great to go back to the hotel after a few years abscence , it certainly had changed however i do not think it was better value for money as in the past. While the dinner was of a gourmet variety and beautifully presented ,the price of 28 euro was a bit steep for a three course meal and even though it was part of the Lidl deal ,the fact that the waitress asked if we wanted desert then showed us a menu with no price list leading us to believe that there was no extra charge, meant that the experience of staying in this hotel became less enjoyable when we settled our bill and were told that there was a charge as the deal was for a three course meal. It was incumbent on the waitress to advise us of the facts before we made the order as is the case in all good restaurants where you are clearly told you can choose a starter or desert but not both. Also i think that as well as signing for food/drink etc by giving your room number in the bar -you should recive a itemised receipt to retain , as the customer is never sure on checking out the cost of these items and invariably at a disadvantage as the reception staff are very busy with people leaving and others arriving at the same time. if both could be improved this in my opinion would be a great hotel. On a positive note the staff in the leisure centre were BRILLIANT and the facilities provided to myself and my daughter at no extra cost were FANTASTIC!!! given the constant changing weather in Ireland this is a great asset for any hotel so take a bow all leisure centre staff you are a credit to Bloomfield House Hotel.

I stayed here with my family in July 2014. It is definitely a kid-friendly hotel. Small playground, bouncy castle and pool were definitely enjoyed. It was so nice to be able to feed the kids early, send them off to kids club and be able to have a meal in peace with my husband. Bliss! Rooms were basic but had everything you need. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were lucky with the weather while we were there as the hotel and surrounding areas are beautiful. Would definitely return.

The Staff are very helpful and friendly, we got looked after really well. Location is great, we loved the walk down to the lake. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Would recommend staying in this hotel to my family and friends. Looking forward to going back again.

C scored 4 / 5 on 15/07/2014

My family of four stayed a few weeks ago. It was our fourth time at the Bloomfield House Hotel. It's a very friendly, family orientated hotel and the kids club in fantastic. The kids club leader are great with the kids. The walk down to the lake is fab. Also, the horse stud, Ladestown house riding school, went out of their way to give my two girls a horse lesson and it was very reasonable, a great treat for the girls. Overall, great value for money and the a great hotel. Although, they could put on some music on more frequently, and they should have a drop in crèche in the leisure centre, it would improve the desirability of the hotel to younger children, as we have a 3yr old and she was bored when my eldest went to the kids club. The hotel could go the extra stretch and have a games room for the teens and tv room. But overall a great hotel, food fab, staff very helpful and friendly and again value for money.. C.McGrath.

Hotel was very nicely appointed - room was spacious - beds were very comfortable - family room had 2 proper beds as well as the double bed. The breakfast was very generous with a great choice. This hotel is terrific value for money under this promotion. Setting was beautiful! Staff were very friendly and professional. One downside was that split food on the dining room floor wasn't cleared away nor were our breakfast dishes from the table - one very small thing that is easily dealt with.

Stayed b/h sun night. Room old but spacious and clean. Had 2 rooms both similar. Food in restaurant only average, beef bland and veg over cooked. Was asked at end of meal 'was beef ok'? Loads left on plate, a bit late to ask then. Poor dessert choice, girl serving was very pleasant though. Found a musty smell in some parts of hotel Overall ok but would not be rushing back

My family and I had a wonderful break at Bloomfield House Hotel , my husband and son were celebrating two birthdays. The Hotel caters for everyone, we had two infants with us also, and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely our party totalled 8 persons. The staff were very helpful and attentive at all times, the Manager took the time to ask that all was well with everyone. The Dinner was very good maybe a better selection of dishes would have been the icing on the cake. Breakfast was very good very good selection. A very peaceful place to spend a few days, the grounds are delightful. Hope to return to Bloomfield soon. Would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone. Catherine Ritchie Would give them 5 stars

Evening meals at restaurant were good quality. Need some more salad options at lunch. Stayed on Sat. Night past and had a great time. Staff very attentative, had a lovely dinner in restaurant and good selection of foods for breakfast. Room lovely and clean and spacious. The band playing in the bar were more suitable to older people but had a great time chatting and dancing with some of locals. Went to the greyhound stadium only a few minutes away. Didn't manage to get to the leisure centre but will do on next visit. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice night away at great value.

Marie scored 4 / 5 on 22/01/2014

The room was nice, spacious enough and we also booked (and paid) for an inter-joining room in order so that we could all sleep in peace as the youngest likes to scream for a few hours if he senses anyone else in the vicinity. Tea and coffee facilities, flat screen TV but not a great channel choice – saorview on a bit of a budget. The leisure centre was good, little kiddies pool area and all the basics…sauna and Jacussi. Well-staffed with helpful and friendly staff. It wasn’t overly warm, and we weren’t the only ones to note this, the baby was shattering his teeth from the offset. There was a kiddies club in the evening and mornings, for 4 + years but the nice girls were happy to take our 3 and a half year old and his 3 year old cousin for a couple of hours. Food wise it was a carvery during the day which in our opinion was not great,. The main bar was very busy on the Saturday and there was a decent queue and wait. The bar menu was on in the evening and this was ok. Breakfast was good, lots of choice and the staff in all areas of food service were very helpful. On the Sunday night we ate in the main restaurant as this was included in the deal – we got a baby sitter (one of the girls that does the kiddies club)( the eldest fella dropped to his knees and cried bitter tears when we went to leave him but when I mentioned chocolate he ran off with the nice girl) so we could actually sit for 90 minutes in peace. The food in here was very good. Overall, this was a nice hotel, child friendly and the staff were lovely. The grounds really are beautiful and I’d say in the summer even more beautiful. Would definitely go back…someday,.

Really enjoyed our stay on saturday night in the Bloomfield. the rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. We really enjoyed dinner on Sat evn and also Breakfast was very good. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful also the live music in the bar on Saturday night had everybody out dancing. We will definately return again during the summer and see a bit more of the area and the lake. The only complaint we would have is eventhough we were in a non smoking room there was a strong smell of cigarettes...however we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay..caroline

We booked into the Bloomfield House Hotel through Lidl breaks for Sunday the 27th October 2013 and we were given a little room with a lttle bed and a little television which came with a little noise from next door and the corridor and an enormous window with no blinds or net curtain which made us feel vunerable to a little audience from the car park down below, in the morning we heard a rather big noise coming from one of the rooms upstairs which we assumed was caused by plumbing problems. The breakfast, though not little, was nevertheless limited in choice (no danish and choice breads for example), rather strange tasting coffee too although their little scones tasted rather nice. The drive-in entrance to the hotel is through the back which is a little strange and the reception is at the side of the hotel unless you're approaching the hotel by boat of course in which case you have a wonderful vista and impression of the hotel as you land ashore! The hotel staff were courteous and helpful although their uniforms were alittle shabby. If you're one of the little people or like things in small portions and are immune to strange noises during the night then this may be the perfect hotel for you, especially room 202, however if like us you like standard size bedrooms, or larger, a quiet night and a fantastic breakfast to start your day in the morning then your €78.00, will turn out to be a big price compared to what the competition has to offer. I'd give it two and a half out of five stars or three if I were pint sized and hard of hearing.

Barney scored 3 / 5 on 07/10/2013

We stayed here for one night. Hotel overall was very nice. Lovely setting by the lake. Nice food in the restaurant and the pool and leisure facilities are good also. My only criticism is that the hotel appears to be very family oriented and there were children everywhere. One very noisy five or six year old child in particular during dinner - her parents seemed oblivious and she was making a continuous droning noise, without any correction from them whatsoever. We asked to be moved to a different table, further away from the noise and this was handled efficiently and diplomatically. If you have children, this is clearly a good place to go, but for those wanting a different kind of atmosphere, maybe choose somewhere else, or at least do so at weekends.

Bloomfield House Hotel has one of the most beautiful settings I know of ! The view down across the extensive gardens to the shores of Lough Ennell is magnificent. Watching the sun go down over the lake after a good dinner in the restaurant is a real pleasure. We found the staff friendly and efficient, the food good and the leisure facilities everything you would expect. Belvedere house and gardens, which are a very short drive, provide a wonderful day out. At only a hour and a bit from Dublin , Bloomfield House , is a wonderfully convenient escape.

On the plus side, the room was very spacious, bright and airy. The buffet breakfast was very good - cereals, fruit, yoghurts, delilcious black and white pudding, ... the lot. The service at the restaurant, for dinner, was excellent. Even though the place was packed, our meals were not delayed, and the staff was very friendly. Service overall was great. On the down side, we had a triple room, and only two sets of towels (although this was quickly with a call to reception); the tiling in the bathroom was dated, and although it was clean, it gave the impression of being dirty. The same goes for the carpets, which seemed to be dusty. We were there for a girls' night away, and definitely had fun. It was good value for money, and we would be back again.

had a wonderful time at Bloomfield house hotel. We particularly like the peacefulness of the http://youtu.be/3-_d1aQ_SV0 Countryside grounds, the childrens playground area, the warm inviting atmosphere of the hotel itself, the large pool, the very spacey restaurant/bar area where we didn't have to worry about our small children bothering others, the really lovely menu which was also very child friendly ( also the staff and kitchen were very accommodating with special requests) All in all a really great experience for us all - thank you - we'll be back! :)

My stay in Bloomfield House Hotel was a wonderful surprise and a great place to relax, especially with the Leisure Centre and the surrounding, well kept grounds. This is a place I would be happy to return to and celebrate family occasions etc. Also, the LIDL voucher made it possible for me to include the stay in the Hotel and I wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you to all staff for their kindness too. To me, Bloomfield House Hotel deserves 4 stars, at least!

Overall a very pleasant stay. We will be back. A Kelly ~ Dublin

Not impressed with this hotel. The stairs needed a good cleaning and the hotel was a little tired. At breakfast we were given a teapot that was filthy ,1 would ask if the front of house was this bad what was behind the scenes like???

The restaurant & bar food was excellent. The staff overall are very helpful and friendly. My children 8 & 6yrs enjoyed the kids club the only downside the room was freezing and not enough supervision in the pool. The views and walks are spectacular. This hotel has many little snugs and cosy places including the foyer to relax. This hotel does not reach our expectations and experience of a four star hotel due to the grubby decor and the rooms could do with a full deep clean (very dusty), the bathrooms tiles & bath/shower are in desparate need of a deep clean. Our baby 5mths travel cot was very grubby too. Ideal for a cheap and cheerful 2 night break but we would not recommend it for any longer.

17th March 2013....It was our Anniversary and we were not disappointed. Check in was a doddle...delightful Receptionist... The Staff absolutely fantastic including the two Managers that were on duty... The Restaurant and food were second to none... totally impressed. The room slightly disappointing because of old decor (ie wardrobes, bad WiFi and old TV)... that is our only complaint... otherwise... we are coming back... can I just say that we stayed in Room 210 and there was a very strong smell of paint, or petrol, or diesel... but............. we would come back for the Staff and the Food and the Restaurant... We had a fabulous time on our lidl break in Bloomfield on the fri before Christmas. Having made it a family event with 6 of us staying and another 5 joining us for our evening meal , the staff could not be any more friendly or accommodating. Our Australian "foodie"brother in law was impressed with his rare steak cooked to perfection, as we all were with the tasty meal and service. We all had great craic with the music provided and the musician even played a variety of oldie tunes including the hokey cokey to the delight of our 83 year old mother, who danced with us all! !Overall we were all very impressed with the hotel , catering service, and leisure facilities and the excellent value for money.

Mary scored 4 / 5 on 02/01/2013

My husband and I stayed here over the Christmas Holiday period and had a fantastic time, The hotel is very well looked after, rooms were spotless and comfortable and the staff could not do enough for us. We ate in the bar on both nights and the food was lovely. We would definitely consider going back there again. The only area that I could find fault with was the time that the entertainment started at. 10:30 on both nights which I thought was a bit late.

Jennifer scored 3 / 5 on 02/01/2013

My family and I stayed at this hotel for two nights over Christmas. Our family room was a very good size with one double bed and two singles and plenty of room to play etc. The room was well maintained and very clean. The hotel is in an excellent location just 3 km from Mullingar town so nice country walks etc. We visited Belvedere House next door which was excellent for the kids, plenty of grounds to run. The meal we had in the hotel restaurant was good although not amazing. The children's meals were good. The bar is nice and there was music both nights which unfortunately didn't start until after 10pm so too late for us. The reception area of the hotel was nice and clean, warm and bright with a lovely cosy fire however, there were some areas of the hotel which could have done with some attention. The toilets next to the bar were not clean and it is advisable to use the toilet in your room only. Also the swimming pool was nice and warm but the tiles surrounding it looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a long time with grit and dirt sticking to your feet as you make your way back to the changing room. To sum it up, the hotel was nice but we recommend it to be changed to a 3 star rather than 4.

Bridie scored 2 / 5 on 02/01/2013

We stayed in bloomfield house on fri and sat 28th and 29th of dec. The hotel is ok, old fashioned furniture, which is ok if you like old. We had to turn off the heating in the room as it was stifling...better to be hot than cold though. We asked for a quiet room, which thankfully we got. The hotel was full, being the time of year...lots of children, but mostly well behaved. The leisure center is ok, have seen nicer. Cannot fault breakfast, you could get porridge and poached eggs on request, and as much tea toast as you could eat. The breakfast waitress were lovely....very busy. The hotel is approx 5 min drive from mulllingar town, so a car is really needed as there is no shop in the hotel. Oh, I would advise you bring your own soft drinks....i asked for a large bottle of lemonade from the bar, the cost was 5 euro, what a rip off, I wouldnt rush back to this hotel, but it is ok

The hotel itself was fine for the price a bit old looking but the hot water in the shower was not great no chance of getting first degree burns think the hotel is too big so maybe there struggling to have hot water for all the rooms. The food in the restaurant was nice a local chipper would do well in car park as you might be a little hungry after. We got a hair in one of the desserts when we complained it was replaced with a bottle of wine so not so bad. overall good hotel at the price. would go back for a cheap weekend deal.

Just back from a 3 night stay in Bloomfield House Hotel. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Bar food was nice but menu was a little limited, the bar is lovely and also very busy at the weekend. We had live music in the bar which was nice. Breakfast was excellent. The rooms are a little dated but clean and a good size. They do a lot of weddings but we didnt hear any noice/music from this. Swimming pool was good. The Spa was lovely too and very helpful as they were booked up but because there was 5 of us called in another girl for our treatment. I would go back to this hotel. Nice little walk to the lake.

I have stayed in the Bloomfield a few times and we were really happy witht the accomodation. We requested a particular room and got it with no problems. The check in was quick and pleasant and the rooms looked like they had been freshened up so we were happy at this stage The staff are all extremely pleasant and have time for children. The only downside was the food which is a big factor when staying in a hotel. On our first eving there we decided to get bar food. My husband had the fish and I had a vegtable chow mein. The fish was just mainly batter and very little fish inside. My noodle dish was overdosed in sauce that it was too sickening to eat much of it. We felt we had no choice but to order the steak the following night which was probably the dearest main course on the menu. This was okay but the meal itself was small. During the day we ordered a toasted sandwich each, I have never seen a sandwich look so skimpy, the bread looked wafer thin and the side salad was a piece of tomato and a piece of lettuce, not very filling for almost €5.00. Overall we had a nice stay but it appears that this hotel is doing cheap deals but have put up their food prices to make their money. We wouldn't mind paying extra for food that it tasty and filling but in order to fill yourself up on a meal you would need to order side orders which costs more money. Don't think we will be returning to this hotel.

On the whole the hotel is lovely, nice rooms, gym etc. However at dinner the restaurant staff were confused as there are a number a different deals and we had to pay an extra 50 euro on our bill because of their lack of organisation. When i complained we were dealth with in a very unfriendly manner, basically we were told it was our fault but really they should know what room is on what deal. Because of this deception i would not recommend or come back to this hotel again, which is a pity when the grounds are so nice.

I can't compliment and recommend this hotel enough. We had a wonderful 5 day stay at the Bloomfield hotel. When we arrived we were greeted by a very helpful friendly receptionist. We went to our room 452 which was a family room double, single bed & cot, they also put a small fridge into the room for us. However, we were over the swimming pool and extractor unit was beside our room so the heat and noise and smell was uncomfortable. We asked to be moved which was no problem we moved to Room 417 which was a very large family room at the front of the house. Very comfortable bedroom. All the staff were extremely friendly and they couldn't do enough for you, the swimming was lovely the water was lovely and warm, which was great for young babies. The provided towels, had hats and armbands etc which the children could us. The grounds of the hotel was lovely to walk around, The play ground was ok but my son loved it, their was a kids club available but we didn't avail of it. We had a Spa treatment which was brilliant and included was a light lunch and a glass of wine for 59.00. The lunch was delicious. The carvery was excellent and the bar food was very good quality, however, the menu was quite limited. Breakfast was excellent too, great choice and replenished continuously so every thing was fresh and not dried up. We will definitely be back to the BLOOMFIELD HOUSE HOTEL and will recommend it 100%.

Stayed for one night and enjoyed our stay. Staff were lovely and friendly, bar food and breakfast were good. Grounds were beautiful. Pool was nice too. Only (very) minor issue was that we found that the hotel was a bit faded and tired in a few corners - drawers missing in bedside lockers, chipped varnish/paintwork on bedroom furniture etc plus tiles in pool/changing areas were decidely grubby looking in places. We would go back though!

The hotel seemed to do a great deal for communion children, I don't have children that age but would definitely go there if I did. Rooms lovely and gorgeous view of the lake. Staff very friendly and helpful. Restaurant very dated. Food was nice but portions very small so we went into Mullingar for dinner the 2nd night. Entertainment in the bar is targeted towards a much older audience, wasn't my cup of tea! We stayed during the Easter break so there was a lot of children at the hotel which made the corridors very noisy in the mornings. Not much to do in the location but the pool and gym are lovely in the hotel.

This is a great family hotel. We had a lovely stay and will definitely being going back again. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. My kids (3 years old and 6 years old) loved the pool, the little play ground and the kids club (but this is only for 4 years+). You can hire out a DVD player and DVDs, there is lots of room for the kids to run around outside. The family room comfortably fits a double bed and 2 single beds and had enough room for us all. We also went horse riding one of the days at one of the near by equestrian centres which the kids loved. All in all a good family hotel with good facilities for children.

Stayed with my husband for 1 night and enjoyed our stay which we needed after having our 3rd baby 8 weeks prior. So relaxing, food was excellent dinner & breakfast and staff were helpful enough except I know you can't keep track of everything but when we walked into our room the stale smell of smoke that hit us was unreal, reception told us they are no more rooms left to offer and would send up house cleaner...we were in a non smoking room...but we opened windows and sprayed around the room. The only downfall to our weekend but the entertainment and craic was good in the bar.

Nice location, very near to belvedere house Handy to have car to pop into Mullingar town, which has plenty of shops, cinema etc Very friendly and helpful staff. Good leisure facilities. We had very enjoyable meals in the bar and the restaurant do a good 4 course meal for €25, and a great buffet style breakfast, very efficiently run. I cannot fault the Bloomfield house hotel in any way, we had a fantasitic 3 day break and the kids had a great time in the kids club. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilities in the hotel are first class. Cannot wait for another visit in the summer.

To be honest, for the cost of our one night break, I expected "cheap and cheerful". However we were delighted with the Bloomfield House Hotel. Every member of staff that we met including reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping were friendly and helpful. We went for a swim in the pool which, along with the changing areas, was lovely and clean. Dinner was delicious with excellent menu choice and relaxed atmosphere. Mullingar is only a couple of minutes drive away where we enjoyed a ramble around the shops. We'll definitely return when the evenings get brighter to cycle on the new cycle route by the lake.

Loved this hotel, rooms were great with a lovely view of the lake. Would highly recommend this hotel. We had a dinner included in our package and it was one of the best meals I have eaten. I would have two minor complaints about the hotel, one being, for a spa hotel they didn't provide a selection of toilteries, we only had two small tubes of body wash and one roll of toilet roll for the weeken (thankfully I brought my own and could have rang receptionif necessary). My other complaint was the non-exsistance of a bar heated smoking area, freezing standing outside with no protection from the cold (but I know I should give them up!!!!). Would stay here again but maybe in the summer.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write a review on the Bloomfield House Hotel. Both my husband and I stayed there for just one night. Our room was large, bright, warm and very clean. The hotel was fully booked, mainly with family residents and it was just wonderful to find that there was plenty of staff to help the residents. Check in and check out was very swift and efficient, which is always appreciated by residents. We found the staff were very friendly and accommodating for everyone as best they could, nothing seemed to be a problem to them and they wore a smile. We were more than satisfied with the hotel and all the associated services and we are happy to recommend Bloomfirel Housse Hotel to our friends.

We booked our one night break through Lidl at the last minute, booking in the morning & arriving in the hotel in the afternoon. Our first impression wasn't great as our room wasn't ready however we did arrive a little early after a busy weekend (mid term break). We went to the bar & the dated carpet was a little of putting but I have to say the rest of our stay was great, the room was very comfortable & clean, the leisure centre was nice but very cold changing rooms, dinner in the restaurant was a great experience & the service was great & breakfast the following morning was fine with the hot food replenished regularly & the staff were great. The Hotel is beside a lake which was nice & relaxing. Would I go back? a very definite YES. well done to the staff at the Bloomfield.

The Bloomfield Hotel must be one of the best hotels i have stayed in. The hospitality and service from the dedicated staff who always greet you with a smile is out of this world. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The Leisure facilities and spa area offers you something to do on those rainy days, relax and get pampered. I would strongly recommend this hotel to everyone. We were there for a local wedding at another location (incidentally it was up market on Tullamore Road), but this place out shined it in all respects. Would definitely go again very soon. If a rating of 10 was available I would give it. Signed Robert.Brown@DRDNI.gov.uk

Just back from a great night away in the Bloomfield House Hotel. Myself and 3 friends left behind the kids and partners for a lovely girlie couple of days. Room was spacious and perfectly clean. The meal was lovely. The place was busy and there was a great atmosphere in both the restuarant and the lounge afterwards. Every member of staff we encountered were professional and extremely pleasant. The leisure centre was alot bigger than expected. Surprised how quiet the pool was considering the busy restuarant. Availed of a facial in the spa . . . bliss! Only slight negative was that I wasn't aware of a 10% resident discount on treatments in the spa and I wasn't offered one, while my friends were. Besides that I would definitely return and recommend the hotel to my friends

We stayed in the Bloomfield House for just one night on our way back from Connemara. Our saty was short as we only arrived around 5pm. We were allocated a fine spacious room on the first floor in the new building overlooking the lake. It was tastily decorated and had a spacious bathroom. The leisure area looked very tempting however time didn't allow us to experience it. There were 2 sittings for dinner at 6pm and 9pm. We choose the 6pm sitting and were very pleased with both the extensive menu and the service. An equally good breakfast was served the following morning. We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel . From D&A - the over 55's

Returned to Bloomfield 3rd Sept 2011. No wedding that day but hotel at full capacity. As one staff member put it “The management are rolling with the recession by keeping prices down". Interesting to hear most people were on some kind of deal from the likes of Lidl or Supervalu. Facilities and friendly staff, as before were excellent. Entertainment and dancing in the bar kept a very large crowd entertained. Although fully booked there was no sense of large crowds anywhere except in bar and restaurant, the size of the place absorbed the large numbers easily. No noise at night despite a number of young children. Roadworks still there but moved on between Bloomfield and Belvedere House. Diversions now well signposted. Only small crib was that they bring toast to the table at breakfast before you eat the cereal and it gets cold before you reach the full Irish.

Stayed 4 nights from Aug 27. Great difficulty contacting the spa prior to arrival - took 6 days and numerous messages requesting callback before contact achieved - however, once appointments had been set up the service was good and staff friendly. The room was adequate and quiet, as requested - good daily service, friendly and obliging staff, fully re-stocked with coffee, tea, etc - the view was of the carpark. Breakfast was good, heated food was fresh even at the end of service. Scrambled egges from hot-plate delicious, however, they were rubbery on individual service when hot-plate not available. Service for bar-food was extremely slow with no attention to detail - food average, but, served the best bread and butter pudding I have ever tasted! Overall, this is a good 3 star hotel in nice surroundings, close to local amenities. Don't expect anything more.

Stayed there for one night. Some roadworks in the area are blocking roads and diversions are in place. These are well signposted coming from the western side of Mullingar but sadly lacking from the Dublin side. Hotel is beautifully situated with Lough Ennell at the bottom of the gardens. On checking in, we found that we had to make our way through the crowded bar to get access to our room. Room was spacious, clean and bathroom was clean. Food in restaurant was well presented with the minor hiccup that on checking in, we booked dinner. However on presenting ourselves at the restaurant, there was no record of our booking. The manager got us a table as the restaurant was not fully booked. Might it have been a different matter had it been booked out? Staff were friendly and obliging. Parking was free (website mentions paid parking), morning newspapers were free. Breakfast was the full Irish. May have been a bad dishwasher day, but we had to ask for our teacups to be replaced as both were still dirty after being washed (hard stained food adhering). In summary, all the facilities were excellent. I cannot answer for the Spa as on a short stay we skipped that. Used Steam Room, Sauna and jacuzzi, very efficient and friendly pool staff. Would I recommend the Bloomfield House? A very emphatic YES. Hotel fully booked out the night we stayed and the following night. On returning home, booked another break there for next month.

we went for one night relaxing getaway. dinner, b&b. it was very peaceful even on the bank holiday sun/mon. afternoon carvery was good and affordable. dinner, we only ordered 2 courses, thinking we would be finished little enough to go for evening stroll. but the service took a little too long. 3 tables that were beside us all ordered 3 courses, and were finished before us. the menu was very basic for entrees, and the chocolate cake was dry. i think we had too high expectations since we were without the kids. oh yeah, the room we had said no smoking, but it still smelled like smoke. the leisure centre was lovely. the staff were nice as well. the manager did try and offer us a drink after the dinner.so that was nice. i think it would be better to go with kids. it looked like they catered very well for them.

We had a really great time in Bloomfield Hotel, so near Dublin and the sun setting in the evening over the lake was truly enchanting. Ok we were lucky with the sun, the food was excellent and the history of the house itself intriguing, you could feel how it was a place of refuge and healing, the place has a lovely atmosphere, we will visit again, Belvedere House is very near and worth a visit. The value was absolutely fantastic Thanks to Lidle and all in Bloomfield Hotel John and Bernadette

The hotel was very nice. The room we stayed in was lovely and very clean. We had a 2 course dinner on Saturday night. I had the fish which I didn't really enjoy. I felt it had been sitting for a long time before it was served. My husdand had roast beef which he enjoyed but he thought the potato and veg were not really hot enough. However, the staff were really busy with several functions going on that night. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We did not get the opportunity to use the leisure centre unfortunately. Overall, we both enjoyed our stay and felt it was great value for money

We stayed in this hotel on st Patricks day and were part of a group of 5 families with lots of children. We were all very impressed with the hotel, the rooms were spacious and the staff very helpful. The leisure centre was a big hit with the children and we also availed of the kids club in the evening. Breakfast was lovely and generous portions. The surroundings are beautiful and we took lots of lakeside walks.we even got to feed the horses. I book at lot of family hotel breaks but was so impressed with this hotel I am booking again soon. Staff were friendly and happy to help.Overall I give it four stars.

We really enjoyed our stay, We had 5 rooms booked in total. The hotel was relaxed children were welcome. The staff were friendly. We all enjoyed the pool area, the water was a pleasant temperature. The gym was well equipped. The children had fun they also tryed out the childrens club and voted that as been good too, unfortunately the DVD player was out of order. the food in the restaurant was good, the whole weekend was great value. we hope to go back. As there was a large group of us with a number of families the number of family rooms in the hotel was good. On the negative side there was a lot of confusion when it came to working out the meal bills, if you had an extra course, childrens meals etc.etc. We would love to go back, the hotel proximity to Belvedere house was also an advantage. laura brayden

Myself ad my girlfriend had a wonderful stay here. Room was big comfortable and looked out onto the lake. The food in the restaurant was good. The service was a little slow but they seemed understaffed for the night. My only major gripe was the entertainment. There was a one man band playing Joe Dolan and Cliff Richard hits, not the best entertainment for 25/26 year olds lol. Overall impression was great. Excellent value for money.

The food was absolutely superb, I really cannot stress this enough. From the lunch menu the day we arrived, through to the fabulous dinner and the breakfast on the day we booked out I don't think there was a piece left on the plates. Highly recommended.

We complained about no heating or hot water in our room on 27/11/2010, the coldest night of the year so far. Pat Byrne, bar manager, promptly transferred us to one of the bridal suites & helped us to move our luggage. He apologised profusely for the inconvenience. He is a very valuable asset to the hotel. Very pleasant man in leisure centre showed my wife how to operate exercise machine. Nothing was too much trouble to him. Girl in reception, possibly Eastern European, businesslike and not terribly friendly. Food very good overall including carvery. Good selection for breakfast also. Excellent leisure centre & very well kept. Dinner, bed & breakfast at %u20AC49 p.p.s. is very good value. Beautiful surroundings & view of Lough Ennell. Would visit again & may also bring friends. We stayed there with out two children aged 4 and 2. The rooms were dated and the pool was cold (I had to take my 2 year old out as he turned blue, the changing rooms were also very cold), but the staff at this hotel were brilliant. They made the weekend. From the receptionists to the restaurant staff to the cleaning staff, they were very friendly, chatty, smiley and very very pleasant. They made our weekend. The food was lovely also. I would have no problem staying at this hotel again, but I would like the pool area to be heated.

Myself and my husband booked a Lidl break at Bloomfield House Hotel as we were attending a wedding there. It is a beautiful venue for a wedding and the staff and food at the wedding were exceptional. The pool was good and the lakeside walk is lovely. Instead of dinner we had a carvery the next day as part of our Lidl break however the food at the carvery wasn't that great compared to the wedding meal and the generous and tasty breakfast.

Myself, my husband and two children, 7 yr old and 6 month old stayed at the Bloomfield House hotel Lidi break at the Easter holi. We had booked for 2 nights but loved it there so much, we stayed on a 3rd night. The Hotel is on the shores of Lough Ennell, lovely walks surrounding the hotel. I could'nt fault the food in the restaurant and bar. My children loved the pool and they have a kids club. My husband went off on a days fishing while i went into Mulingar town for a bit of shopping. Fantasic value for money, we got the lidi deal for only 99 euro per night for the 4 of us in a lovely big family room including breakfast each morning and 2 evening meals. We just had to pay for our 7 yr old. If i had to fault one thing (just one mind you ) is missing the good old Irish banter! The staff were very friendly but it would be nice to see more Irish staff............We have booked again for summer hols...............

The reception and grounds are fantastic. You have to go through the bar to get to your room which I thought was very odd. The room was standard and the bed wasn't that comfortable. The view from our room was of the air con units and the cark park. We didn't go into the the leisure centre but it looked amazing. The dinner in the restaurant was only average but the staff were fantastic and I think I counted ten of them! The cooked breakfast was very tasty, I wasn't going to have any until I saw my husband's and I think he went back for seconds.

Enjoyed our stay at Bloomfield House. Toweling robes ordered and paid for at reservation did not appear until until a point where they weren't much use - tho' they still appeared on the bill. Breakfast and most aspects of hotel were very good. However, I felt the evening meal was low-grade and very much "yellow-pack" standard. We didn't get the chance to use the leisure centre. I stayed in this hotel before. it became part of the Lidl-Breaks scheme, and the service and evening meal were much more satisfactory.

Very pleased with our stay in Bloomfield House Hotel. Staff were helpful and kind. Breakfast was the usual buffet style layout and had plenty of choice. Would recomment it to friends. Had no opportunity to try the leisure centre as we were attending a function elsewhere and could not spare the time

over all we had a pleasant stay. we had a family room, our only issue were the beds in the room the springs appeared worn and need replacing. Which led to a poor nights sleep. The food was overall good and friendly service family friendly

We recently booked a Lidl break at the bloomfield house hotel. We were made to feel very welcome and we were lucky enough to recieve a free up grade. Food was very good and the value for money was excellent. We did not use the lesiure facilities but would certanly do so if we were staying longer. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel

We stayed at The Bloomfield for one night in April. We had to go through the bar to get to the lift to our room which seemed a bit strange. Our room was adequate. It was Sunday evening when we went down to the bar, it was pretty busy, the place was filthy and seemed to be under staffed as we had to wait at least 10 minutes before we got a drink. The bar staff were young and unpleasant. We were on a Lidl break which included an evening meal. We had to choose from an awful menu with very little choice and subsequently the food was awful. The only redeeming good point I could comment on is the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The Bloomfileld Hotel is in a fantastic location: outside Mullingar in the countryside and overlooking a lake. Not far from the Hotel is Lough Ennell which is a beautiful place to visit also. What was disappointing was the reception from the staff; very few of them smiled and were quite grumpy. They really should realise that the reason people return to a location is because of how the staff treat them. If they could improve on that they would have a lot of repeat business. Food in the restaurant for the evening meal was very average and not described as per on the menu. The breakfast served was much better.
