We had a lovely weekend at this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were large and well laid out, the leisure centre was really nice and the food was excellent,.

G scored 3 / 5 on 17/10/2018

The Hotel was lovely, our room delightful. However, the staff in the Bar were unfriendly and there was no Cocktail List. The Dining room manager would have been more suited to a school canteen. She was dressed in an untidy manner, she addressed the guests as Love Hun, Pet, most unprofessional.Food was good at dinner, Breakfast was very hit and miss, depending on what time you come down. We used the one bottle of shampoo and one bottle of shower gel on the first night, no replacement was given. The room was cleaned, but a jug of water and two used drinking glasses left behind. The staff in Reception were professional, helpful and courteous.

Very happy with stay overall. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. We thought the decor from reception to the rooms need improvement especially the carpets. The food was very good overall. Star rating 4

Philip scored 3 / 5 on 03/08/2018

The staff were very friendly and helpful especially the ladies on the reception desk and the breakfast serving staff. The bar food was excellent but the restaurant food was not good especially my steak which was tough and to me seemed to be stewing steak. The service was also very poor although the staff there were friendly but seemed unsure of what they were doing. They forgot our drinks order and then brought the main courses before the table had been cleared from the starters. I was also charged for my meal even though we had a voucher. I asked they the bill be cancelled bit on checkout discovered it was included in my bill. Maybe this was just the one night that we ate there as I have been told on more than one occasion that the food there is excellent. Overall the hotel was in my opinion a 3* and not 4* as stated. It would benefit from a bit more investment especially in kids facilities and improving the outdoor seating area.

Enjoyed a 3 night stay in Blarney Golf Resort last week. Great location, staff very welcoming, lovely big room and spa treatment excellent. Food and service very good.....only disappointment was no brown soda bread for breakfast. Would be very likely to return to this hotel. Thank you.

Robert scored 3 / 5 on 31/07/2017

Stayed in Blarney Hotel last week. Even though staff was really nice and professional, I left dissapointed with outdated rooms. They really need some maintenance (as every single wall has black marks), none of the sockets adapt ordinary phone plug. Hotel suppose to have nice views, but all I could see was car park and some bushes through restaurant windows. Kids club has nothing interesting to offer for kids exept pool table. Location is great, if you're planning to spend most of your time in Blarney Castle and gardens (really worth a visit).

Carmel scored 2 / 5 on 13/07/2017

Definitely not a 4 Star Hotel, more a 2 Star. Very run down and in need of a makeover inside. The outside looks lovely, nice grounds. Dinner was nice, but not exactly wow- not what you would expect from a so called 4 Star Hotel. Breakfast v.v. bad both over-cooked and under-cooked. Scrambled eggs half raw, dreadful. Even hot-chocolate had an extra charge- disgraceful considering we are not tea or coffee drinkers. Definitely will not return unless it improves significantly.

Carmel scored 2 / 5 on 03/07/2017

Sorry but definitely not a 4 star hotel, Afternoon tea was a let down, over-priced, Cheap tacky miss-matched delph, tasteless sandwiches, no doilies or finishing touches. Breakfast both under and over-cooked, no variety. Extra Charge for Hot chocolate - not good enough considering non tea/coffee drinkers. Beds v.hard and uncomfortable. No bath mat. 1 tube shampoo+shower gel between a family of 4 people!! Hotel is in bad need of a make-over "on the inside

Stayed in the Hotel for one night. We had a family room which was clean and spacious. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Food in the restaurant was fabulous, specially deserts. Would deffinitelly go back if traveling the in the area again.

Robert scored 5 / 5 on 03/01/2017

Very spacious and well appointed bedrooms. Staff very friendly abd hotel spotless. Leisure centre was good, pool area and sauna spotless, water quality very good. Good range of equipment. Only slight issue was the restaurant - as there was quite a limited menu and, on the evening we dined there, one of the dishes wasn't available and the fish was a change from what was advertised. Much better selection available on the bar food menu. Food in both areas was excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly stay again.

Ciara scored 4 / 5 on 03/11/2016

Lovely hotel. Clean and lovely surroundings. Nice pool and children enjoyed the little playroom. Staff very friendly throughout. My only critique would be that the food needs some improvement. Menu is ideal for everyone but service from kitchen is very slow and although food is presentable and edible, some of it could be better (ex; fish overcooked & lasagne too dry). Would return again however.

Mammy scored 3 / 5 on 30/08/2016

Not a bad hotel - family room was a good size and clean. The food was inconsistent - breakfast was good, but the pancake maker my son loved disappeared one morning much to his disappointment and they ran out of maple syrup on our second morning! The evening meals again were inconsistent - some of the food was good, but some not great. The kids room and playground were good, if in need of a bit of upgrading. The pool was good and the ladies changing room at least was a good size. Overall not bad, but I wouldn't say it was 4 star.

Robert scored 1 / 5 on 22/08/2016

while the Hotel Room was clean . the restaurant and the bar food left a lot to be desired . waiting over 30min between courses is not acceptable for a so called 4 star hotel. i stayed in this hotel several years ago when it was 4 star and had a michelin star restaurant . the hotel has fallen along way and would be lucky to be a 2 star now. the facilities advertised for children are terrible a couple of go carts out in the woods in serious disrepair and the toys and play area are also very poor. would not recommend .we paid for 3 nights B&B for two adults and two children and we discovered we had to pay seperate for the children for all meals. watch out for the small print . finally the staff were as helpful as they could when they were able as the place is understaffed.

Kbroph scored 4 / 5 on 15/08/2016

Lovely Hotel, nice quiet location, rooms spacious, air conditioned. Only faults, would be no kids club as advertised online and karting is unusable due to its location and difficulty to peddle karts on the rough surface.

Pauline scored 3 / 5 on 15/08/2016

We stayed at the Blarney Golf Resort for a week which was booked through LIDL breaks. The hotel itself was clean, good gym and pool. The room was spacious and clean. However the food was terrible. We ate in the restaurant 2 nights as part of the package we had booked was dinner in the evening. It was the worst restaurant food I have ever had. We ate in the bar for the remainder of the stay, it was slightly better but not the quality or standard you would expect. Pity because the staff were lovely, it is a nice hotel but food poor.

Smurph76 scored 4 / 5 on 03/08/2016

Was really impressed with hotel and facilities - it was brilliant for children and the pool was brilliant. The hotel was spotless and the staff friendly and helpful. Gorgeous breakfast buffet but was very disappointed with meal in the restaurant. The staff were slow and seemed inexperienced, my fillet steak for which there was an 8 euro supplement had to be sent back twice and I ended up eating on my own everyone else had finished their meals by the time mine came back dry and over cooked again - menu was limited enough too, the kids options were good but over-priced. Overall we would definitely visit again but would re-think where we would have our evening meals.

Cmccd scored 5 / 5 on 01/08/2016

Stayed in the hotel with my husband and 2 children ages 2 & 8. We found the family room very clean and spacious. Breakfast was lovely and we had evening meal in the restaurant which was fab. But most importantly the hotel very kiddie friendly with large play room which connects to outdoor playground which large gates so very safe. I also liked how the pool was heated so ideal for kids.

encountered the usual hastle and incorrect room type given to us not what was booked.stayed here 3 times and have always got the run around and have never received the room I booked.only stayed here because it was cheap.always a frustrating experience ,it seems they cant read a booking form correctly.a family room is a family room, not a double room with a fold up bed stuck in front of a double bed.frustrating treatment always

Very enjoyable short midweek break. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location to access Cork City or West Cork. Food was top class; rooms were large and to a very good standard. Would recommend to anyone. Maurice and Anna Marie, Tipperary.

Ronan scored 4 / 5 on 10/05/2016

We stayed in this hotel last year with the kids and we enjoyed all aspects of the hotel. Food good, staff friendly, swimming pool is fun & the hotel is nicely located on the outskirts of the city so that you can avoid the city traffic when going to the various attractions in Cork. That is why we returned this year again with the kids.

Napolean scored 4 / 5 on 04/05/2016

It is a perfect Hotel for family stay. The facilities are perfect. Ample space for kids to play and leisure center is of highest standard. But, if you are vegetarian like us then might speak to the chef and try be very early for your breakfast. The chef was so busy on Monday morning that we could not be served fried potatoes. Its below par to have only baked beans for Veggies or Vegans for a 4* Hotel. Other than that a perfect break is guaranteed in Blarney's Resort.

I would like to say that I was very impressed with the amazing room and its size:) The receptionists were also quiet attentive and nice...Food very good and staff in bar and restaurant were totally helpful and courteous:) Fantastic balcony came with the room which was a huge bonus :) Would defo stay ere again and also recommended to friends and family.... 10/10 lol

Enjoyed our family stay here, beautiful hotel on lovely grounds. Staff were absolutely amazing especially with the kids. Great food especially the breakfast buffet..however I was extremely disappointed in relation to the heating system in the room, all we had was a tiny space heater to heat a big room. Despite being told the heating had broken I discovered by reading reviews that this has been the situation for some time now. The room was freezing especially at night as it was cold out. Wasn't very pleasent for a two night Stay!

Just back from a one night stay with my husband and 2 small children. We were extremely happy with our stay, large bedrooms, very clean and comfy. Food was delicious. Each and every staff member we met were fantastic. Didnt get to the pool or spa but plan to on our next visit. Hotel had a kids club and parents were welcome to stay, which was great as our kids are small and they were free to play with toys etc, they loved it! I couldnt fault anything, just cant wait to return.

Rooms need a revamp carpet worn in places, bins not emptied on arrival, cups missing. Full of kids unsupervised by parents, it was like having dinner in a playground, management didn't deal with our complaint just offered us free drinks. Service at meals was very slow waited 30 minutes for desert to arrive which was cold with no apologies. Would have been nice to be greated with an Irish smile at check in , manager Gordon needs to organise his team staff running around tables full of crockery etc , no tablecloths at breakfast or dinner cereal baked bins spilled all over tables never again you have been warned..

The hotel staff were always helpful and extremely pleasant, our room was beautifully decorated, very spacious and very clean. The food was great and there was a lovely relaxing atmosphere in the bar at night. The facilities in the pool area were amazing and the whole hotel was so child friendly. We had a wonderful time and we look forward to going back there again soon.

Very far from Blarney. Rooms was nice. Reception helpful however offer debit card on check in and was advised they would have to take full balance and no ability to charge to the room - had to provide credit card. Bar small and service very slow. Had meal there for two adults and one child with a couple of drinks €97 - very expensive. Menu limited no atmosphere. Glasses of wine €5.95 and very small. Went for a swim in the morning but was ring fenced into a small area as three separate swimming lessons where being held and roped off. Went to kids club at 10 to see no facilities because a birthday party was to be held. Advised kids club back open at 4pm. Went at 4 and no staff present just the remnants of a birthday party. Went at 5.30 and staff present but little activity. Went out for 3 hours to Blarney Woollen Mills (great) left clean my room sign on door - returned and room not cleaned in fact room was not cleaned at all during our stay. Had dinner in restaurant that evening ordered monkfish (as am non-meat eater) - it came wrapped in parma ham (not in description). My wife swopped with me and she said it was inedible. Breakfast selection is poor - nasty orange juice of the concentrate variety and poor fruit - mostly from tins Overall not a pleasant experience.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Marie scored 4 / 5 on 24/08/2015

I stayed at Blarney golf resort for two nights in early August with my mother and three children. We paid an extra 50 euro per night for a two bedroom lodge for extra space and the accommodation was clean and the children loved having space to run around instead of a hotel bedroom. On the first night we ordered a roast chicken dinner to be brought to the lodge for 20 euro and this was really nice for the money. The meal included in the package was gorgeous and kids meals were only 10 euro for three courses. the kids club is very well run and the kids loved it, there's also a kids play frame outside the kids club and go karts outside. This hotel got very mixed reviews on Tripadvisor but I feel these were unwarranted as this hotel is most suited to families and not couples. It is about 4km outside Blarney so not within walking distance of Blarney centre. We loved our stay and are going to book a week here next August with my husband/mother and children as it's ideal staying in a lodge with hotel amenities.

Highly recommended staff were super nice and extremely friendly Food was absolutely amazing and the kids menu is very reasonably at €9.95 for a 3 coarse meal We were well impressed Hotel was clean and beds were comfy bathroom in room was plush too.. Swimming pool was great my 12yr old son really enjoyed it and because it wasn't too deep I didn't need to worry about him All in all we really enjoyed our stay at the blarney golf resort and will def return in the future

Enjoyed a four night family break in the Blarney Golf resort last week. Overall we had a very good time but this hotel needs a few small touches and it could be great. Check in was swift and we headed down to our family room of king size bed and 2 single beds for the children and cot for the baby. Room was good and big and more than adequate. However king size bed is actually two singles pushed together and one of the mattresses was way lower than the other so that if you rolled over you would fall down. Rang to reception and they fixed this for us but in a family room surely it shouldn't be 2 singles pushed together?? Used the pool and it was lovely. Nice temperature. Probably one of the nicest I have ever used for the temperature. Ample locker space, clean and loads of hairdryers to use also. Breakfast was lovely but gets busy after 9. Loads to eat and pancakes were a big hit with all the children. Ate in the bar a couple of nights and food was lovely and reasonably priced. However waiting staff in bar are terrible. Ordered the wrap one night and asked did it come with chips and was told yes but then it didn't. Asked for my chips to be told by another staff member that wrap doesn't come with chips. Asked for a portion and he proceeded to lecture me on the fact that there was no way that anyone could have told me chips were included. In end I had to ask him to go and get my chips before the rest of my meal was gone. Witnessed several similar incidences during our few days. Waiting staff just need better training. Overall we had a fabulous break and I wouldn't hesitate to return to hotel. It's just a few small things would make a massive difference to this hotel.

Recently had a lovely three night stay here. Would definitely recommend and return. The family room was very spacious, the food was lovely as the pool. The pool was great also. My younger child (5 yrs) enjoyed the kids club for an hour each day however the 7 yr old thought it was a bit babyish! Go kart track only has four karts so a bit of queuing needed! Husband played golf and remarked it was a great course. The staff in this hotel were all great. Would definitely return.

Fantastic hotel in every way! Staff very friendly. Bar meal excellent and very reasonably priced. Swimming pool very large and clean. Bedroom is a 'suite' type room and was clean, spacious and had all modern facilities with very good wi-fi. Buffet breakfast also excellent with plenty of hot and cold choices - if one tiny criticism there were no fried eggs, only scrambled ones but, in fairness, I'm sure staff would have provided one if I had asked. Best of all was the price and proximity to the beautiful city of Cork, which we were visiting for business purposes. Well done Blarney Golf Resort!

C scored 1 / 5 on 12/05/2015

We were 'upgraded' to a lodge - it was very spacious and great to have the extra room. However, the rooms were tatty and run-down. The beds were uncomfortable, and the televisions didn't work. The food wasn't great in the restaurant, and the service was hit and miss. Wouldn't be in a rush back.

Nor scored 4 / 5 on 13/04/2015

This Hotel is perfect for families. The rooms are very spacious so we were not cramped and also the bathrooms are modern and spacious. The food was great, but most of all the staff were fantastic. We found all of the staff extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed over the Easter Break and Easter eggs were left as a surprise for the kids from the manager which was a lovely touch. The kids enjoyed the Karting area behind the hotel - maybe a few more Karts would be good. The swimming pool itself was very warm and the changing area was warm as well unlike many leisure centres. The kids club was very busy at times and it looked a little understaffed, however the enclosed play area was lovely and there were lots of nice Arts and Craft to do. I would definitely return.

Wendie scored 1 / 5 on 22/02/2015

Worst hotel experience I have ever had.... The rooms were dated with chipped paint and we shared the room with dead bugs.... The food choices were great however once it arrived it was cold and the chef apparently does not know how to make a steak medium rare... Our party (of 4 people) were not the only group to complain about the food either, numerous people walked out after complaining and getting no satisfaction. Won't be recommending this establishment to anyone.

We stayed here for one night in Feb 2015. We had a family room - 2 adults and 2 kids - age 4 and 7. The family room had one huge bed and a small single sofa style bed. Had expected a double bed and 2 singles/ or two double beds. However this was ok with us as kids are small. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant - very quiet but suited us. Breakfast was self service but large variety of food - all fresh. Swimming pool - in which we spent a lot of time was ok. Only complaints - water a bit cold and all same level 1.4 metres. Kiddies pool a bit small. Nice jacuzzi. Didn't try the gym and didn't try the bar. Lovely setting. All in all due to the staff and service we would stay here again.

I booked 8 rooms for a one night stay with D/B/B. This hotel is located in the open countryside which is just fabolous especially for children there is so much open space, lovely play area and staffed playroom,as we had three children under 4 with our 16 adults. Rooms are really spacious and nicely decorated overall a lovely hotel. we did have a problem with the dining room as they seemed to have been very understaffed big delay between courses, breakfast time was chaotic, people waiting to be shown to a table,no water for tea or coffee, maybe it was just that morning very shortstaffed. Overall had a pleasant stay. Didnt appreciate being charged for our tea & coffee after dinner been the first time this happened on a Lidl break

A great experience--from the picture, I thought the hotel was in town, but it is located in a rural setting in a beautiful location. The location was easy to find and drive to. The included dinner was very good as was the breakfast. The interior is a bit tired, but the staff, restaurant and access more than made up for any shortcomings in appearance. My wife found a killer deal in the pro shop and as the saying goes, if she is happy, everyone is happy! I was initially delighted to find the hotels aspect of the Irish Rail website and after visiting the hotels we are very glad we chose it--we just wish now that we would have booked more locations through it for our vacation. Fantastic accommodations and food and a fantastic price! They even helped me get a refund on the deposit when we needed to change the date for this booking and that really impressed both of us! Saludos from Florida!

Stayed in this hotel with my partner a few weeks ago. We stayed in a fabulous room, which had a king sized bed, couch and office area. The room and bathroom were top quality I couldn't fault it. Unfortunately the wooden deck on the balcony was a little broken and there was a sign on the door advised us not to use the balcony. That was a bit of a let down but I couldn't fault anything else! The restaurant is also fabulous! Great value and top quality food. The staff were also very helpful. We will definitely return!! :) Ask for an upstairs room, the views are fabulous!

Thank you.

Very nice hotel and really lovely and friendly staff. The only thing I would pick out as a fault is that the food in the restaurant is slightly over priced for what it is. But everything else was really lovely. Lots of lovely offers for guests in the spa.

Very similar to other reviews posted recently, we enjoyed the stay, it was a great value break. The food was excellent as were the facilities and in the main the staff were helpful and pleasant. However, the hotel shows the obvious signs of NAMA influence in that the 4* touches you might expect are missing, for example, whilst the room was very clean a double bed is not two worn out singles beds strapped together. Aside from that, the deal was a very good one and the hotel is well situated as a base to visit the surrounding points of interest. Yes we would stay there again.

A very modern hotel, don't know why it has Blarney in the name - its miles from Blarney. No atmosphere and service at breakfast was appalling. a big white elephant built in the middle of now-where. The steak at dinner was one of the best but i couldn't recommend this hotel.

We arrived to a friendly welcome at reception . Bedroom was lovely. Went for a very tasty luch at the club house. Served by a very friendly girl( not sure of her name) She wasso friendly and as a waitress extremly attentive. She is certainly an asset to the Blarney golf resort!! We had a beautiful meal in the hotel later that night. Breakfast was also good. Our only issue was the bed wasnt very comfortable. It was like two single beds pushed together. Overall we really enjoyed our time in the Blarney Golf Resort

Hotel staff friendly and helpful. Food was really good. Filllet steak was included on Lidl special without a sulpplement. The restaurant was busy and understaffed ,in saying that they worked extremely well under pressure and gave really good service ,so well done there. Room spacious and comfortable. A selection of teas in the room was a nice touch. Spa area looked really good (we did not have treatments).pool and facilities good .overall ,really enjoyed our stay

This was a wonderful overnight stay for us. We were luck enough to be upgraded to a delux room so we had a balcony which we got a bottle of wine from the restaurant and drank it in the sunshine. We had a lovely dinnner served by lovely staff. Breakfast was great too, nothing was to much I had porridge specially made for me. Loved it will go back and have told loads.

We wouldn't go back to this hotel. On arrival at about 4 o clock I was asked did I book my meal as we booked a package which included an evening meal when I said no I wil do it now I was told that I couldn't eat in the restaurant that it was fully booked for the night. We were only staying for 1 night so obviously ŵe would have had to have the meal that night.the girl told me I coud go and eat in the club house they do bar food there and I could use my voucher for the restaurant over there. I went to see wat the menu was like as I am coeliac and the menu which was displayed on the entrance to the clubhouse had nothing to suit my diet. I returned to the reception and spoke to the manger who could conveniently fit me in at 9 o clock after I told him how unexeptable it was to have booked with an evening in the restaurant and to be told you can't eat their. At 8.15 we were told that there was a table ready for us we went in for our meal and while we ate there was empty tables which would have seated 20 more people??????. In fairness to the manager on reception he was very good. But in general surely the people in the hotel know when people book with a meal that they are going to eat there and should ring them and ask them to book a time if they are going to be busy. The good things about the hotel are the rooms were lovely n very comfy beds.

The room was very nice and very clean. Staff were very good.but the restaurant food let us down a little, while the food itself was good our steaks were covered in a sweet chili sauce, first time we have saw this. We brought it to the attention of the main staff and it was dealt with very professionally and to our satisfaction. We would recommend this hotel..

The hotel was good, with friendly staff, large clean rooms. The downside was the bed. It was the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on. I wouldn't go back for this reason.

Our second stay in this hotel; 2 night break over easter with kids; really lovely. Food is excellent, as are staff. My only criticisms: No WI-FI in the rooms, no fridge, and although we had booked a family room for 2 adults and 2 children, when we arrived there was only one dbl bed in the room. The receptionist said this was because we hadn't specifically requested extra beds, but surely when you book a family room for 4, it is assumed that more than one bed will be needed?? Otherwise a fab stay, and we will return

Staff very good, room nice, food however was horrendous even with 7.50 euro supplement with each main course, main course and dessert inedible on both of the evenings that we stayed. Of all the lidl-breaks hotels that we have stayed at, this has been the worst......A & F Kearney.

staff are amazing and the cuisine good. The 1st impression needs an improvement though as there was hundreds of cobwebs at the entranceway. The rooms are a little dated but the bathrooms are excellent. No WI-FI in the rooms, no fridge, no complimentary water. In the restaurant there was more cobwebs on the skylights, nasty!!! The staff and the food would bring us back but they must work on the cleaniness. Last thing, I requested gluten free breakfasts which they had not allowed for, very disappointing.

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay and would have stayed longer except they were booked out! The rooms, staff and food were excellent. We had the earlybird menu on our last night (ate on the country previous nights) and it and the service was first class. The leisure centre was good and I sampled a spa treatment which was amazing. *****

i have already been to this hotel so i knew what to expect, or i thought i did, the heating in the rooms did not work, we asked for them to be looked at and they never did, it was nearly too cold to sleep!it was also not made clear on arrival the rate was %u20AC89 pps, we thought it was per person and because 5 of us went , we had to pay another %u20AC89 as a supplement as she was in the room alone!also the spa is advertised as open seven days, and i really enjoyed it on saturday so i decided to get something different on sunday, only to be told it wasnt open on sundays, this used to be a great hotel but it has gone downhill alot since my last visit and i will not be returning

We had an absolutely memorable break here. We were upgraded to a king deluxe room, which was lovely. It was one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in. The food in the restaurant was delicious and the breakfast was fantastic. With full use of the pool and leisure centre also, there was lots to do to occupy ones time. It was such a great value break. we'll definitely be back again, and I would recommend this resort to anybody.

I did'nt know what to expect from a lidl break or from the Blarney Golf Resort hotel, to say I was pleasently surprised would be an understatement. The value for money was nothing compared to the absolutely wonderful time we spent there. The staff were friendly and efficient, I could have spent all day in the bedroom it was so comfortable, the food was wonderful and the pool and leisure area a joy. I will be back as will the couple we spent the time there with. I have already recommended this hotel to many friends.

We really did enjoy our break in the Blarney Golf Resort Hotel. The reception by the staff on arrival was excellent, the accommodation was wonderful and the food was fantastic.and so well presented. We had friends from Cork city meet us in the Restaurant for dinner on Friday evening and they were most impressed by the whole set up. They said they would be back again. We think the Lidl Breaks are great. and we definitely will be using them again. Rating 5 out of 5 Donal McDonald

Lets start with the good points. Its a clean hotel with all the basics required and its in a stunning location in Blarney. However its not the facilities which let the hotel down its the staff. Greeted at the reception on arrival by a lady who was obvisouly eating her lunch in the back room and did not want to be disturbed so she check us in at the speed of light, not a very nice welcome. The next member of staff we met was in the leisure centre. We waited at reception for nearly 10 mins for someone to come. We were then told in a bad manner that we must sign in and that we had to be out of the pool by 19.45 as it closed at 20.00 this seemed a bit over the top as it was only 18.50. While in the pool the staff began to clean the area with a fire hose. This was not the most relaxing way to enjoy the pool so we decided to get out to find that all the mats in the dressing room had been lifted from the floor and the staff were hosing the floor as we changed. This was at 19.40 so the pool was not due to close until 20.00. When we returned to the room we decided to order a drink on room service to which there is a %u20AC5 tray charge which was a bit strong and we were also made pay for the drinks on the spot which was also unusual as most hotels allow you to place it on your room bill. The following morning we went for breakfast at 10.00 as breakfast doesnt finish till 11.00 we thought that there would be still food avaiable. The breakfast was buffet and was only ok there was no egg left and only some beans. The staff did not offer us tea/cofffee or toast until we had waited 10 or 15 mins. In all I have stayed in many hotels and I have never complained but in this case I had to. The staff were such a let down and in hard times like these its sad to see the Irish welcome we base our countries tourist indutry on is not present in one of the main hotels in one of irelands main tourist attractions Bla

Had a fantastic stay here Easter Saturday 2010. The rooms are gorgeous and well equipped (huge bath!) and the dinner was to die for. We had our 8 wk old son with us and although we were asked to eat in the bar instead of the dining room (as it was after 7) we were given the full dining room service and were made very comfortable. The leisure facilities were great and would definitely stay here again. Only thing is it is in a remote location but for pure relaxation with all your needs met on site you couldn't do better!
