Top class service in the bar and restaurant. Great choice of quality food at breakfast and the service was also excellent . Rooms were top grade. We definitely will make a return visit.

The hotel looks lovely as you approach it on arrival. I found the staff very obliging. The rooms are very spacious and well laid out, be sure to ask a staff member how to regulate the heating, and they will assist you in how to do so. The beds were comfortable and our stay was very enjoyable.

The hotel f,urnishings, paintings were lovely. The staff very helpful, professional and friendly. The bar food was very poor, but the breakfast was excellent.

Siobhan scored 5 / 5 on 29/09/2020

Fantastic hotel made all the better by the wonderful staff. Extremely accommodating and bent over backwards to make our stay a special one. Rooms modern and clean, beautiful pool and grounds. If there was a downside it would be that the bar food wasn’t great, but that’s a small thing when you are so close to Bantry town. Would definitely recommend a stay - fantastic value.

Sarah scored 4 / 5 on 27/09/2016

Had a great time, rooms were lovely and clean, staff were fab as was pool and play area for my 2 year old. Only complaint is that when I went to check in they told me that my reservation had been cancelled and they had released my room however I never cancelled. I was then told I was lucky they had a spare room and could accommodate me which was a bit annoying since I never emailed or phoned to cancel. Despite this I would stay in the Westlodge again as everything else was great.

Kbroph scored 1 / 5 on 15/08/2016

Room very stuffy and uncomfortable. Were charged €5 per child for breakfast and €9 per child for meal. €36 goes on your bill for 2 kids automatically. Got our €18 back as kids did NOT have meal. However had to pay €20 for 4 bowels of coco pops. Our children are only aged 3 and 7. I have never being charged before for a 3 year old for breakfast, told us it was their policy to charge for all children regardless of age.

Yugs66 scored 5 / 5 on 18/07/2016

Just back from a Lidl break at the Westlodge. It far exceeded my expectations, a great hotel for a family holiday. Lots for children and mostly free of charge always a bonus to parents. The extensive grounds were lovely for pitch and putt and an evening stroll. We had a meal as part of our deal and the food was exceptional. Great musical entertainment in Hannie Murphys pub every evening. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The only quibble I would have is that the bedroom doors have no outside handle which means that every time a guest enters/leaves they have to slam the door, this is very annoying in the early hours. However overall I would highly recommend this lovely hotel.

Pippa scored 5 / 5 on 21/01/2016

We went to the Westlodge as a family group to celebrate the New Year. We had a great time. The rooms were lovely and well maintained. The staff were friendly. The leisure centre was nice and clean (but a bit cold in the changing rooms after a swim!) and the pool was lovely and warm. The food was amazing and such a great choice and reasonably priced. The entertainment for NYE was *interesting* but everyone had a great time and that's all that matters. It would have been good if the band could have stayed on for a half hour even after the countdown, as they literally disappeared after it. I would definitely recommend the hotel for a stay for families and couples alike. If there had been a kiddies disco to keep the kids entertained for an hour or two on the evening that would have been great. The lobby area of the hotel was like a crèche for the night. It is located a good 2 miles from the town centre, a nice walk on a good day. Breakfast was continental buffet and hot food was served for you, but you could go and get seconds if you wished. The hotel has recently been taken over by new owners and you can see that a lot of work has gone into it since my last stay in June 2013 and also there are plans being made for more renovations. I look forward to another visit and seeing what they do with the place.

We had a family gathering in The Westlodge Hotel on 24th and 25th August 2015. From the very beginning the hotel staff were just lovely! Nothing was a problem. Everyone was very friendly from receptionists, bar staff, dining room staff to cleaners. Sandwiches and tea were provided on the first night for some of the party who arrived very late. This was greatly appreciated. The food over the two days was lovely with generous portions. The rooms were comfortable and very quiet apart from the mornings when we were awoken by the banging of doors. Overall we really enjoyed our stay, found it good value for money and would definitely return. Thank you Westlodge!

Margaret scored 3 / 5 on 28/08/2015

beds very comfortable, clean rooms, dinner was very disappointing and service in restaurant poor

Fenagh scored 2 / 5 on 27/08/2015

Hotel reception is lovely and staff very nice, however we were given a room that had a very damp and musty smell. room 121. It was dreadful! I couldn't stay there and went back to reception and was given another room but no apology. The damp room should not have been offered. Was I given it because of not booking through hotel and booking with lidl? Maybe. The other room was ok but very dated and basic. The dinner was good and dining room staff really nice and friendly.

Caroline scored 3 / 5 on 26/08/2015

Stayed here on 21-23 August on a DB&B basis. Hotel was located within walking distance from Bantry town, nice walk to and from the town. The hotel room was a little disappointing even if it was clean. The food was good and the staff were lovely. The evening entertainment in the bar on the Friday was poor. Would return there as it 's a good base for visiting the area.

Sparkey scored 3 / 5 on 22/08/2015

Hotel was great. Rooms very tired. Staff excellent

Lisa scored 2 / 5 on 16/08/2015

Hotel website very deceiving it has not been decorated in years. The first room we got, the curtains were hanging on a wire and the room was like a sauna (hotel had no air con) so we had to change rooms. The room doors are also like prison doors. The hotel bar and restaurant are tiny and very old fashioned. The food was nice. My daughter and I got a bug the first night we arrived so we had to leave on the Monday at 5pm and the hotel didn't even give us as much as €10 back. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Julie scored 2 / 5 on 05/08/2015

Suzy scored 4 / 5 on 23/07/2015

We were very pleased with the deal we got on Lidl breaks for dinner, bed & breakfast. Yes the Hotel rooms are a little tired & dated but they are very clean. One of our mattresses in the family room number 237, had seen better days & was incredibly springy but the other was ok. Was very impressed with the activities for the children. We were only there 1 night & the kids managed to fit in mini golf, soccer, table tennis tournament, movie night, dancing to the singer (sorry can't remember his name) in the evening & swam for 2 hours the next morning. Think they could have joined in other activities too but they didn't fancy it. All of this was included in the price, which made a nice change, from having to find extra money for activities. The food was good & plentiful & was no problem to order from the bar menu in the restaurant, as we didn't fancy anything from the restaurant menu. They even did a pizza for one of the kids who didn't fancy anything from the kids menu, so very accommodating. My cousin was kept awake for over an hour at midnight by what sounded like a power washer going outside. In hindsight we should have phoned reception then to report it but left it to the morning to mention it to Denise, who incidentally came over to ask if we were enjoying our stay, which I thought was a nice touch. She said she would look into the noise & old mattress. All in all we felt we got a good deal & value for money.

Louise scored 3 / 5 on 18/07/2015

We had a lovely pleasant stay at Hotel. Staff are very helpful and friendly and good with children. Plenty of choice for dining. Hotel is clean only draw back rooms badly need updating decor wise as I'm sure they are aware of. Bathroom clean but no storage as only glass ledge over toilet which bad place to have. Shower only ok. Family rooms we stayed in not to child friendly a lot of corners on needles objects so have to watch small people. Bedside lockers would be good idea instead of square hollow shelf stuck to walls. Yea facilities as my daughter said something you'd see in old folks home along very old kettle with outdated radio stuck in wall between beds. Disappointing no wifi access in bedrooms especially if have teenagers as not great choice on TV! But on a whole mostly cosmetic as we did a lot of sight seeing and out and about was perfect.......we will be back!!!!

We just finished a holiday break in The Westlodge in Bantry. We had a great stay. The room was clean and recently painted. The pool and facilities were very good. The breakfast and evening meals where very good quality. Most important was the excellent staff. They where brilliant throughout the hotel in particular the dining room. We will definitely visit again a great experience.

Alison scored 2 / 5 on 21/06/2015

the hotel was very clean but i feel because we booked through lidl we got the rubbish rooms right at the bottom of the building no view only a brick wall having to walk up and down stairs to get to the room will not be back to this hotel

GREAT HOTEL We stayed at Westlodge Hotel on 6 June, 2015. It is a great place to stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Leisure Centre was great. We had a meal that night which was excellent. We had a lovely breakfast next morning also. There were lovely walks around the hotel and the views were breathtaking. We had great music and dancing in the bar that night. We would highly recommend this hotel. County Limerick Guests.

Dominic scored 4 / 5 on 09/06/2015

Staff and food couldn't have been nicer. Only quibble is that as the heating system is the old type, the hot water pipes in the room remain hot, even when the radiator is off. Can be a bit stifling if you don't like sleeping in a heated room, but maybe the pipes could be cladded to keep unwanted heat in. Otherwise, couldn't have had nicer hosts, right from the reception staff to Tom in the restaurant, and the ladies servicing the rooms. Everyone seemed to take extra care in their work which was refreshing to see. Well done West Lodge!

Miriam scored 3 / 5 on 26/08/2014

We recently stayed at the Westlodge Hotel the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly . We did have a problem with noise we were awoke early with doors banging. Overall we enjoyed our stay there but would not stay there again unless the problem with the door banging was solved just a notice in every room asking people to close the doors easy I'm sure would help

Sinead scored 3 / 5 on 09/08/2014

We had a family room for 3 nights in early August 2014. Traveled with a 3 and 1 year old. Positives: Clean spacious rooms - Good food - really lovely & helpful staff - spacious lobby for kids - loved the pool area - perfect location to explore west Cork. Negatives: Rooms in the rear building were outdated/dowdy - The bedroom doors banged very loudly (annoying when trying to get kids to sleep) - the access to this rear building was terrible (trying to drag kids and luggage up stairs across corridors with multiple doors and then down stairs!!) - shower ran hot then cold at times Overall, we had a pleasant experience - the positives did out-weight the negatives. it appeared that all family rooms are in this rear old building, which was very frustrating with small kids. Large buggies/travel systems were abandoned at a central point as it was not feasible to bring them any further! But if you are aware of these issues before you go, and don't get bothered by these "adventures" then you'll be grand!!!

Noreen scored 4 / 5 on 02/08/2014

We booked 3 nights stay at great value enjoyed it so much we decided to stay a 4th night our 2 children aged 10 and 14 had lots to do tennis golf and leisure centre with swimming pool squash court table tennis .The food was lovely and reasonably priced to suit a family and the staff were so friendly. There are so many beautiful places to visit in West Cork they never got bored though wii fi wasnt so good but i was glad the kids took a break from their phones etc. We were lucky with beautiful weather aswell.I would highly reccomend this hotel for a family holiday.

Stayed just the one night but enjoyed it. The room was plain but very clean and the bed was comfortable. Used the leisure centre which was lovely. Breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food in the bar was good. I would stay there again.

Kamran scored 3 / 5 on 24/04/2014

Weekend deal was good, hotel was decent, no problem staying next time. However it will certainly be help if staff could be little more welcoming. Dinner menu was very much same every night . We stayed in FAMILY room and had paid for breakfast and dinner for all, but on checkout it I was told that kids breakfast and dinner was not included, ( I don't understand why while we had paid for family room). The receptionist was very nice and gave us some discount. The booking company used by Today'sfm for hotel booking should have mentioned us at the time of phone booking that kids were not considered as part for family if its booked through them.

Had a lovely two day break at West Lodge Hotel over Easter accommodation was fairly basic but sufficient for our needs. The staff were all very friendly and helpful' we ate in the Restaurant on our first night and in the bar the second night - food was excellent on both nights . Bantry town was only a short distance away and we enjoyed the walk through the grounds. All together a satisfactory stay and would not hesitate to recommend it or return ourselves at some later date.

Tom scored 4 / 5 on 03/11/2013

The staff were very friendly. We enjoyed use of the pool and gym. We had a few drinks by the fire in the evening which was cosy. There is a nice restaurant with a view of the sea. Breakfast was very good. Overall the hotel is very family friendly. The rooms we stayed in were rather small and the decor a bit dated but this was not a major issue. Overall our experience of the hotel was very positive, good value for money and we enjoyed ourselves. Thank you to all the staff.

We travelled to this hotel as a family with our 2 year-old daughter. We fell in love with the place. Leisure Centre and pool was great. We will definitely be back!

Hotel was impressive at the front. The staff were friendly and courteous. However, this is were it stopped. The rooms were clean but dated The dinner was just adequat and basic. The breakfast was eextremely poor. It was a served buffet which did not make sense. You wete made to feel like oliver twist if you looked for an extra slice of bacon. You had to serve youself with everything else including coffee. The fruit was all canned. The staff were not trainef properly. Would not want to stay here again.

I would recommend The Westlodge Hotel. It is a nice hotel, with great facities. The rooms are a little dated but very well kept. We used the swimming pool, jacuzzi. sauna & steam room every day during out stay. The food in the restaurant was really nice. We found the staff incredibly friendful & helpful - this alone put the hotel in a league of its own. I think it is safe to say we will definitely go back there.

Whistler scored 3 / 5 on 25/06/2013

Hotel basic enough, having said that it is Clean and quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. The food was tasty but the service and setup for breakfast was terrible. Their excuse was everyone came together at the same time but they should have it laid out better, we started to queue at 9.30 did not finish breakfast until 11.

Brendan scored 3 / 5 on 13/06/2013

A very pleasant stay in a lovely hotel. West Cork scenery out of this world. Entertainment in the hotel, like most hotels very bland. Could do with some traditional music, being in the heart of Irish culture.

My husband and I stayed in the hotel , on a Lidl break, for 3 nights on the June Bank holiday weekend . From the moment we arrived we were bowled over by everything and everybody we had dealings with. The hotel is in a lovely location, with great views. The Staff were well trained , friendly, helpful and welcoming. We got a quiet room as requested and were very impressed by the cleanliness everywhere. We ate in both the Bar and Dining Room and were so pleased with both that we did not go out to a Restaurant any night as we had originally intended. On the Sunday night we thoroughly enjoyed the Entertainment provided in the Bar ---- a mixture of Old Time and Ceili .Two wonderful entertainers , an accordionist and singer ensured a memorable night. We look forward to going back there again. Mary.

I would not recommend staying in this hotel. I found the room and facilities to be old and not up to modern standards. The menu was limited and the quality of food was poor. The staff were friendly but it seemed there were too few there to run the hotel which resulted in difficulty being served. The room we stayed in had no "do not disturb" sign and the cleaners gave one knock before entering the room without giving one second for a reply, this happened every morning.

Aileen scored 3 / 5 on 03/10/2012

We stayed in this hotel for one night and while the decor is old fashioned and dated it certainly needs to be updated, the beds were very comfortable and the hotel was spotless clean, we found the staff to be fabulous their level of service was way and above some of the 4 and 5 star hotels i have stayed in around the country, their aim realy was to please their guests and make their stay a pleasure, our package included dinner and the food was delicious and the grounds were fabulous with football and pitch and putt and lovely walks so despite the decor and old fashioned rooms and bathrooms I would give this hotel a 3 star rating

We had a very pleasant stay for 2 nights, family room lovely & roomy but walls very thin- didn't use leisure centre but heard it was really good:) Had great value evening meal €25 for 2 courses - lovely view from dining room.... breakfast ok... really nice young local staff. Location is very good for sight seeing Beara penninsula...... fantastic & breathtaking scenery ( we cycled it) My first impression was poor as the tables in the lobby where people eat ,although empty were all full of dirty plates etc..... I would stay here again without any hesitation - gr8 value & lovely young friendly staff.

I stayed at the Westlodge Hotel in Bantry on June 15th 2012. i found it to be a very nice hotel, although quite old fashioned, the welcoming staff aswell as a high standard of cleanliness more than made up for any shortcomings in decor. As i had my three children with me the leisure centre and swimmimg pool were a great attraction and i was very impressed with the upkeep of same. The food was lovely and i liked the effort all staff made with clean uniforms and name tags.

Stayed in the Westlodge Hotel on the 14th June 2012 with 2 friends. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Found the room a little cold when we arrived, it eas a wet miserable day and were immediately given a heater in our room for our stay. Had dinner included in our package, all 3 of us had the lamb in was excellent "melt in your mouth". I had a started and main course, and my friends had main course and desert, I was given a desert also free. We used the gym on evening of arrival and leisure centre in the morning. Leisure centre was big and spacious. Would highly recommend a stay and will definitely be returning myself Maura

Had a great time in this hotel. Very child friendly. Staff so helpful and friendly. Leisure centre is very good. Great facilities for children. Food was fab. Very clean hotel. Rooms basic but very clean. Really enjoyed our stay. Only small problem was we booked a family room but only got a double room so it was a bit cramped.

Stayed in the westlodge for two nights & had a great time. The staff are fantastic - very professional, friendly & nothing is too much trouble. We had breakfast on only one of the mornings & it was fine. Both cooked breakfast & fruit & cereal available. Good selection of juices. We also had a light cold meal when we arrived which was fine also. The bedrooms are dated but spotless & the bed was very comfortable. Overall the rooms, corridors & furnishings are dated, but again, very clean. Shower wasn't great pressure wise, operated by the taps of the bath but totally servicable & very clean. Would definitely not rule out staying here again. We didn't use the leisure centre but it was clear from all the people coming & going (both residents & locals) that its very popular. There was live music in the evening & a very enjoyable stay was had.

Checked in on the 4th of May for 2 nights with my wife. Staff were friendly and nice, the hotel is old and out dated. Room was not as clean as one would have expected also there were no clean towels or loo roll. Lots of kids running around the place all weekend so if its a romantic break for 2 your after then give this hotel a skip. I certainly wont be returning....

i stayed in the westlodge with my 2 daughters and we had a brilliant time. it is an incredibly child friendly hotel. the pools are great as there are 2 different sized kiddies pools and the adult pool is vast. there is a games room for the kids to play in and a dvd was played on one of the evenings. the grounds to the hotel are lovely for walks. the hotel definitely could do with an update - the rooms are very basic, but with kids thats probably not a bad thing. the staff were very friendly and the food was very good. i would deifinitly return with my children but probably wouldnt got for a romantinc break there.

We went on a Lydl 4 day B&B break in the Wesrlodge hotel, Bantry the end of January 2012. We had one of the best experiences of our lives. The hotel stands on a hill with splendid views. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The Spa and sports centre were exceptionally clean and well run. We particularly liked the swimming pools layout, as it had steps into the water, a great help if you are disabled. We had the warmest welcome from the staff, who went the extra mile to help make our stay memorable. The reception were particularly helpful as we wanted to visit some of the less well known archeological sites in the area. There was a good selection of breakfast fare. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the bar and both were very good. Most food was sourced locally and made for delecious well presented meals, with good value for money. The staff were also good at recomending restaurants in Bantry town. We did not have children with us but there seemed to be plenty of activities and amenities for them and special offers on meals. We would definitely book this hotel again.

We were delighted with our stay in the Westlodge - rooms need to be updated - menu needs to be varied a bit more for the restaurant - however the staff were second to none and the lady at reception (Indian lady - sorry did not get her name) on check in was very professional and very friendly - I would recommend this hotel for its location as it is ideal for travelling all around West Cork and the staff.

This hotel was in a superb location for touring around the Beara Peninsula. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Our room was spotless and bright. Dining/breakfast room had wonderful views looking down towards Bantry Town and bay. Ate in the Bar one night and have no complaints regarding the food. You can walk into the town from this hotel in about 15minutes, which is really a lovely scenic walk. This is a very good basic three star hotel, relaxed, comfortable and down to earth. Would stay here again.

My husband, 11 yr old daughter and myself spent 3 very comfortable nights at the Westlodge Hotel. Our room was spotlessly clean on arrival and cleaned after breakfast every morning. The buffet breakfast was really lovely, catering for all tastes and ages. The weather wasn't great while we were there so it was fantastic to have use of a really nice pool, whirlpool spa, sauna, etc. The games room was also invaluable for keeping our daughter entertained. We found the hotel to be child friendly and the staff very pleasant and helpful. The bar food menu was varied and reasonably priced and we enjoyed it on 2 of the evenings... the chocolate fudge cake and hot chocolate was a great hit with our daughter! We would definitely recommend the Westlodge Hotel in Bantry and will be returning in the future. The Sheehan Family, Douglas, Cork.

The hotel staff were very friendly, the food provided for the breakfast was pleasant and abundant. The bar food was average and the fish dishes were very disappointing and the fish and chips tasted like Birdseye frozen fish. The leisure center was excellent and quite modern. The reception was welcoming. Once you start your journey to your bedroom, you will be appalled by the decor that greets your eyes. The hotel's bedrooms are stuck in the eighties and carpet drapes the floors, it needs to be revamped.

Wonderfully located for exploring West Cork.Delighted to see that the tourist industry is reacting so effectively to the downturn and offering such excellent value like we got here.

Spent 3 nights in the West Lodge hotel, and 3 nights in the Pond Lodge Cottages on the grounds of the hotel. Really enjoyed the stay. The staff are really friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food in the hotel is really good, although there could be a little more choice on the menu. The leisure centre is well run and clean. Entertainment is provided every night in the lobby. However there is nowhere quiet to have a drink since the main bar Hannie Murphys is closed and only seems to open for private functions. Overall it was great value and would return.

Used this hotel as a base for daily penninsula hopping in west cork/kerry. Fantastic choice as it catered for all our needs. Comfortable sleeping for 2 adults and two kids. Fabulous breakfast which set you up for the long day ahead. Well run leisure centre and pool, invigorating start to the day. Arrived back late every evening, just in time for a quick game of tennis. Athmoshere in hotel seemed calm, relaxed and friendly. Kiids seemed to be well catered for by the friendly staff. Will definitely use this hotel again..and if it looks the same in 10 years time, as it did 15 years ago, I'll savour the 80's decor and 14" tube TV nostalgia again.

Staff were lovely & friendly, location is out of Bantry, it is a good 10 minute walk downhill into the town centre, rooms are very old & dated however they are clean. Breakfast was nice. There are nicer hotels in Bantry. If the price per night was cheaper I would consider staying again but its not fantastic.

Lovely clean hotel, although slightly dated. Staff were friendly and helpful. Meals in the restaurant were overpriced, cheaper to eat from the bar menu (was a similar menu from what I could tell) and the Michael Buble cd constantly playing in the restaurant in the morning and evening was a bit off putting!! The Leisure Centre was great and over all we enjoyed our stay. The Lidl breaks offer was excellent value for money.

To be honest I didn't feel this was great value for money, the hotel is badly in need of renovation. I booked a family and requested a cot but we were placed on the 2nd floor (a flight of stairs with a buggy baby and other small child is no joke) We were advised to book dinner to avoid dissapoinment, that evening there were 2 families in restaurant and when we checked out we got a bill for %u20AC80.00 for our dinner (2 x soup, roast beef (pub carvery) and ice cream)no price on the menu...... now I know why! Live entertainment was a young boy singing. The leisure centre was good but no swimming ring was allowed for my 2 year old(too dangerous), only the baby seat ring for the 7 month infant. Overall not a great experience :-(

Paul scored 4 / 5 on 31/08/2010

We had a very nice stay at The Westlodge. The Hotel location is ideal for the West Cork area - and also there is a beautiful Sea view over the Bay from the main Dining/Breakfast Room. The Breakfast was very nice with lots of variety and the option of a full fry or healthy fruit and cereal etc. We ordered from the Bar Menu one evening and the Food was very, very nice - I had a Steak that was perfectly cooked and presented!!! Leisure Centre is very nice and very well maintained re. cleanliness etc. - Our 5 year old was given a complimentary hour long swimming lesson which she loved and we greatly appreciated. The only criticism I'd have and I only mention it in passing as it didn't matter in the least bit to me was that the Room itself was a little jaded, a refurb is due but then again its tough times for the Hotel Industry so I'm inclined to forgive them it....... I also don't like to spend time in Hotel Rooms and the location more than made up for it. I'd stay again without any hesitation.

Lidl Breaks provide such an excellent deal for families. The Westlodge Hotel in Bantry is a great example of this. Our 3 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed the playground, and the swimming pools were ideal for toddlers. Older kids (4+) can take advantage of free swimming lessons. The Westlodge even has a free creche service from 10-12 am and from 7-9pm daily, to give us parents a break. The surrounding area of West Cork is beautiful and there are several blue flag beaches within less than an hour's drive of Bantry. Best beaches that I have ever been to. As for the B&B, the breakfast room was pleasant and sunny with windows on all sides overlooking the beautiful countryside with a bit of a sea view. The selection of food was also good and they did not charge us for our daughter's breakfast!

Pat scored 5 / 5 on 15/08/2010

we enjoyed our stay in the Westlodge hotel in bantry and would have no problem in booking there again. there is a very good athmosphere in the hotel and its very family friendly as are the staff and management. we did not have any children but all the families there seemed to have a great time and their childrens club seemed to work very well. lots to do in both the hotel and the area. just one item - their food is very good but perhaps they should look at the pricing in the restaurant. they provide and excellent dinner for %u20AC35 or two courses for %u20AC30 - for most people on holidyas this would be a bit pricey - they should also provide a tourist menu say for %u20AC25 or %u20AC20 for two course with the option to select certain items off the menu for an extra charge. it works in other places. we consider our Lidl break to be of great value and would like to express our thanks to Lidl for this inovation as people do not have to collect stamps or points to avail of your offers. it opens up a lot of choices to people around the country. Please keep it going. we would rate our Lidl break **** . Pat

For parents looking to get away for a few days with young children, this is the place to go. I can't recommend it enough. Set on thirty acres it has pitch and putt, swimming pool, sauna, steam room, games room, playground and i'm sure there is more. Staff are very good and helpful. The bar had music on during mid week and it was child friendly up until 11.30. Breakfast was good. Hotel looks a bit dated from the outside but don't let this put you off. Two thumbs up. We stayed there in April My husband and I and our 20 month daughter. We had a very comfortable stay there. The staff were very friendly and could not do enough for us. They were brilliant. The Westlodge is a good old fashioned hotel with great food and staff. The views from the restaurant were magnificent The bedrooms have everything that you would want but could do with a revamp into the 2000's. They are clean and comfortable but just a little dated. The leisure centre was excellent and way ahead of the rest of the hotel decorwise. I would go back and stay in this hotel again. I would recommend Lidl breaks to everyone and have done. they are excellent value for money and I will book again through Lidl.

Clean, old fashioned hotel situated on the outskirts of the town of Bantry. Not as child friendly as we were lead to believe, hotel website was not at all accurate. Pool was tiny and did not open till 10.30 a.m., 'Play Room' consisted of a room the size of a shoe box with a few toys on the floor, no seating. Food was very nice and staff were lovely but there was a wedding on the weekend we were there and we were told we could not eat until 8 p.m. With a 2 year old, 7 and 8 year old this was ridiculous. Entertainment in the evening - set dancing - was in the main bar and children were not allowed in which was disappointing and with no dvd player in family room we were left to either go to bed or sit in reception. This hotel is suited to adults, I would only recommend it to people who are interested in spending most of their time in Bantry town itself.
