Good value for money with breakfast and two course meal included. Room could have done with few touch ups e.g. holes in net curtains. Mildew around bath. Overall happy with location. Short walk from train station. Cliff walk to greystones nearby.
loved this hotel staff very friendly
Had a lovely time in the Esplande hotel, room was spotless, food was fantastic, Would stay here again!!!
We recently had a restful two days at The Esplanade Hotel Bray. Enjoyed it. The room was excellent. The staff friendly and helpful and everywhere very clean. A fine old fashioned style hotel in a fine location. Will go again.
hotel was fine but more suited to an older customer and the bar was very limited with choice of drinks . No complaints about service or staff but will try more modern hotel next time. Breakfast was very good
Great view from the room pleasent staff only gripe was the tired decor, damp spots on the ceiling and the empty soap dispenser at the bathroom sink other than that we enjoyed our stay.
Staff and location very good, but that is where it stops, food came out cold and our desserts came out as kids still finishing dinner.(end of kids dinner needless to say). Tea even came in a coffee pot which was disgusting. A electric socket on 1st floor corridor was totally exposed only being held on by live wires. Health and safety would have a field day in this place...... Sorry wouldn't recommend.
Absolutely loved the weekend when I stayed here. The room was facing the gorgeous sea veiw and it was such a sunny weekend. The staff were lovely and there was so much to do around Bray. Between the Bray fest, the carnival, bray head, sea world and the amusements it was great! Only downfall was the rooms were not directed properly had a bit of trouble finding it, it was a little bit dusty in the room and the food wasn't great. Overall it was lovely and I would come back
We stayed two nights here at the end of June and were extremely happy with our break. The outstanding feature of the Hotel is the friendliness and unfailing courtesy of the staff. The location is excellent too! Beds were very comfortable and meals were very good also. The only reservation I'd have was the limited menu for dinner. That having been said I did enjoy a juicy steak each night! I will be back! MMJ
The location of hotel is good. Nice views easy walking to restaurants etc. friendly helpful reception. A bit dated but clean and comfortable. I did feel sorry for older clients in the morning who were forced to negotiate the stairs as the lift was broken. Did nt seem it would be wheelchair friendly. Excellent Christy Moore impersonator in bar. Sorry we couldn't listen for longer as had young child with us. Breakfast good. Handy parking.
Clean hotel
service very good staff extremely friendly and value for money was extremely good was very pleased with deal
I booked 3 people into the Esplanade Hotel for my friends 70th Birthday and i must say we had a lovely time the staff were so nice the food was good. Would love to stay again sometime. Betty
We really enjoyed staying here, we well my wife picked here because it was on the beach front and away from the clubs as we have 2 young children and it was our first time away as a family and noise factor is a big deal. The staff were really friendly and were easy to talk to. The food was great and child friendly. The room was a little small especially as there was 4 of us and kids take up a lot of room. We will be back to stay and will be booking with Todayfm breaks again. It was real value for money.
Nice hotel and very handy for hill walking in the nearby bray head and greystones cliff walk. Staff very friendly and room clean. Food very good. All in all, very good value. Would recommend.
it was very nic and friendly nice rooms and the food was very nice good location for what we wanted
The hotel and rooms are very nice and spotless clean. The reception staff were friendly and helpful too. We did the €49 bed& breakfast and evening meal. This hotel should not be serving food! We arrived at 8.30 for dinner and there was no one at all in the restaurant to seat us or take our order, I had to go to reception and ask for someone to come into us. The cutlery was dirty, our starters was ok but main was thrown up to us and we couldn’t eat the dessert, even the waitress commented on it saying it was "inedible".. We ordered breakfast up to the room the following morning and that was a disgrace. I would say the food had been cooked for hours before, the eggs were like rubber and the rashers were so dry I never chocked on them. Me and my mother ended up having to make our own tea from the room and just ate the toast. When we complained at checking out, the Manager gave us the bottle of wine we had for dinner on the house and didn’t charge us for room service.. but we still had to go and look for something to eat in another hotels as we were starving!! It’s a nice hotel but there is much nicer in Bray for the same price..
We've stayed here several times & really like it, so tend to keep coming back. Staff friendly & helpful as usual. Unfortunately we didn't get a sea view this time, as requested, because we had left booking quite late, & the room was very small at the rear of the hotel, with a view of the Dart!! However it was perfectly clean as was the bathroom, although the shower pressure was pretty poor. Bed was comfortable. Real pictures on the walls, rather than framed rectangles with splashes of colour. Excellent breakfast, as usual, & poached eggs on request were provided with a smile, perfectly cooked to order, unlike some rubber bullets masquerading as eggs, I have received in other hotels.
We stayed there for New Years Eve and I have to say we got great value from the stay. The evening meal was great and the waitress was more than friendly with exceptional food. There was music in the bar and the staff there were very helpful and friendly too. Even though it is an old building our room was up to standard of many other hotels I have stayed in before so in guessing by some reviews I stayed in the "new" part. There was a great selection for breakfast but the only negative thing I could say was that there was a queue for toast as apparently someone had broken the normal one and it was been repaired but other than that we had a great stay and got great value for our money.
We had a lovely stay at the Esplanade Hotel. We just stayed one night. The staff were lovely, so helpful and friendly. We requested a room with a view and this is what we got, and more. The room was gorgeous, it was huge, with a lovely bay window and beautiful view. When we booked in the receptionist explained that the room was in the older part of the hotel and might not be warm enough so if we wished to change it there would be no problem. The room was perfect. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was very nice and the waitress was very attentive and friendly. We would love to stay again.
We stayed at the hotel in October and unfortunately we cannot rate it very highly. Whilst the location is very nice the hotel itself is very run-down and in need of a major refurbishment. The bedrooms were not only shabby but windows were extremely dirty, toilets didn´t work properly and lights were broken. The evening meal we had was fine and the waitress was very friendly. Unfortunately we were the only guests in the restaurant so this was a little off-putting.The food at breakfast was good but the staff in the morning were not very friendly. On the whole we were very disappointed with the hotel .
STAYED HERE FOR 1 NIGHT ,CLEAN ,COMFORTABLE HOTEL WITH PLEASANT HELPFUL STAFF HAD DINNER ON THE 1ST NIGHT NICE MEAL,BREAKFAST SELECTION WAS REALLY LOVELY GREAT SELECTION AND REALLY TASTY WOULD RATE IT BETTER THAN THE DINNER ENJOYED OUR STAY! LOVELY LOCATION ,FACING THE SEA FRONT.
Delighted with our stay. We enjoyed our evening dinner and breakfast. The room and bathroom was very clean and comfortable. The weathers was brillient. The Esplanade Hotel and Bray in general was very enjoyable. Both myself and my husband will return and have no hesiation in recommending both the hotel and Bray to anyone.
Morning, Usually I always recommend using Lidl Breaks but I was very disapointed when we booked this hotel. Bear in mind we were already travelling all day from Scotland and we decided to stay in Bray on the way home to Tipperary. When we got to the hotel they said they were FULLY BOOKED already!!, Not Impressed as you can imagine as we thought how brill it was lidl could get us a hotel the same night as Katie Taylor fight!! So thanks to the very nice receptionist who took time out to find us somewhere elso to stay....away from the seafront! Hopefully you will take note of this, as i said i always promote using your site but feel very let down after this..... Reena O' Brien
We had a great time, it was our fourth time staying at this hotel and would recommend it to everyone. We are planning on another visit soon and a family visit at Holloween. The Lidl breaks are the best.
We stayed in the Esplande Hotel on Friday last the 13th Great Hotel in a great location lots to do at the mopment in Bray with the Bray Festival my daughter of 4 loved the area , Dinner & Breakfast great in the hotel. Regards Vincent Dublin
I spent 2 nights in the Esplanade Hotel and everything went great. Staff was very polite and friendly and the room was clean and big. I asked for a double bedroom facing the seaside when I was booking and I got it indeed. Only reason for not giving it 5 stars: the shower - it is not easy to use and I took a cold shower on the first day. Also, there is only one type of soap dispenser and it's for hair+body+hands altogether, it is not really fancy... There wasn't any toothpaste in the bathroom so I had to ask some at the reception (it's free). So my advice would be that you bring your own hair and body products as well as brush and toothpaste.
had a very enjoyable stay. Very friendly and efficient staff. Rooms comfortable and spacious also very clean.
Great Place to stay, Central to Everything on the Promenade the Staff are always very Helpful and the Food is Excellent as well.
We really enjoyed our stay in Bray, hotel staff were lovely and couldnt do enough for us and the food was delicious. The hotel although clean and comforable, its a little dated and could do with a little updating. The location of the hotel was perfect for our long walks along the promenade and easy access to the shops. Would definately recommend a stay in this hotel.
We stayed in this Hotel for one night B&B and evening meal. The room was clean, perfect for our needs. The staff were very friendly but the food was awful.
We had a nice sea view from our room, staff were friendly, the decor was in keep with the period of the building which was nice and we got a good dinner. The down side is there is not allot to do in this place of Bray at night.
Fantastic view, great location, the staff were very friendly. The only thing was I felt because we went on a "lidl break" we got an older room, over the years I have booked directley with the hotel and didd'nt even realise the older rooms existed so was a little dissapointed with that as i was expecting something more modern. Apart from that the room was clean and i did enjoy my stay.
When we arrived they had not received our booking but luckily had a family room available. Room was spacious enough, breakfast was good with fresh watermelon. My only gripe would be general cleanliness eg. cigarette butts around the front drive, dirty plates stacked in bar area and bar toilets blocked and not being monitored on an hourly basis. But location could not have been better for the air show/ festival especially at only a couple of hours notice.
I stayed with my wife on the last weekend in march 2011.Clean room and bed . Nice staff . Nice breakfast. But decor is very dated . Hotel bar was very quite all weekend no music or any entertainment. Front of the hotel could do with a good cleaning and a lick of paint,we had a seaview room which was nice until you opened the curtain and seen all the bird poo that was on the rails outside the window. The lidl break gave us a great opportunity to go away on an affordable break, this hotel was ideal cos we didnt plan on spending a lot of time in it.
Stayed 1 night in Esplanade Hotel. Very friendly staff and very clean all areas. Room small but clean. Dinner very good value and good service, breakfast had plenty of variety and very nice. Breakfast was served until 11.00 and at this time exactly all the food was taken away. Give yourself at least half an hour before end of breakfast time or you will be disappointed. It states that the hotel had car parking but when we entered the car park there were no spaces available so we had to park across the road. Lucky for us pay parking was not operational over the weekend. Enjoyed our night and felt we got very good value would stay in this hotel again.
had a great time here great room lovely view staff very nice and helpfull
Great location, stayed in old part of hotel but it was clean and staff nice. Front of hotel could do with bit of sprucing up. Excellent value for money.
I can't really rate it beacuse the hotel cancel our booking the week before we were supposed to go, and offer us to go to an other place. We didn't want to and hope to be able to stay in the Esplanade Hotel one of these days! We still waiting for a refund or a voucher for the booking fee.
We stayed in the Esplanade Hotel for 3 nights in August and we really enjoyed our stay there. It is ideally situated near the beach and shops & restaurants are within walking distance. We booked it with Lidl Hotel Breaks and it was good value for money because breakfast was included,we just had to pay for the kid's breakfast which was only %u20AC5 per morn. I felt the room could have been cleaned better & the windows were a little dirty. The internet worked fantastic in the room so was very happy with that. Breakfast was lovely and there was a great range of food to choose from. Overall we were reasonably happy with the service at the hotel.
We had a nice time but too short as we could not enjoy the hotel. Had to check out @ noon on a sunday,so,we had to wake up early, could not sleep in. Our room had a magnificent view but the room itself was not what we expected it to be. The reception staff was very friendly and very helpful but as for breakfast the next day,we were rushed into leaving the restaurant even though we came 1hour before service ends. The evening meals were gorgeous. The WI-FI were basically non existant in our room had to go in the lobby for internet. Overall,we had a good time and did not let the negative thing ruin our weekend.
Stayed in hotel over August bank holiday. Hotel is in a great location. Enjoyed walks on prom & on Bray head. Room with a view was fantastic. Breakfast was excellent. Staff fine. Only quibble would be the slight air of dereliction/litter around the side & back car park. A general tidying up would'nt go amiss. Also the outside front was let down by cheapish tables/chairs. Nice quality wooden benches ( weather permitting of course ) would enhance the hotel. Also a good quality door-mat at entrance door is needed, especially in damp weather. These are small enough, cosmetic criticisms, but I think little details like these are important. In general, a definite thumbs-up to the hotel.
hotel has great views room was big but wont be back as i think the chefs thought they where feeding birds as the food portions where unreal
I rate it 2 star. The staff in the hotel were lovely and the location was super, however the hotel was dated. I feel they should have a higher standard. The plaster was falling off the ceilings, the bar was old and had'nt been decorated in years. We were talking to the receptionist and she said that business was very quiet and I feel this was a reflection on their behalf. We had stayed in a hotel in the same area, the buiding was newly decorated, they had a leisure centre and at weekends they had entertainment. I almost forgot they had kids enterainment. There was very little in the price
The Lidl break offer was brilliant. It was grat value. The hotel was in a great location on the strand. The only problem I had was when we went down to breakfast and were told our package didn't cover breakfast and that we had to pay on check out. On checking out I showed the receptionist the package deal of dinner, B&B and she said we didn't have to pay and asked if we had our breakfast, I said we did.
Excellent stay, room and breakfast was very good. Staff very friendly. Could improve the dinner menu. Overall would highly recommend
The service was excellent. The food was great and the dining attendents were very good and courteous.
Our stay was most enjoyable. The food ,staff, and accomodation was excellent.
Hi This was my second time staying here and I really enjoyed my stay. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is very good and the breakfast is fab - it sets you up for the day. There are great walks either on the sea front or for the more adventours one can climb Bray head where the views are spectacular. Would definetly recommend it and also would stay again. Máire Bonner, Co. Donegal.
I would give this hotel four stars. It is a family friendly hotel with a wonderful ambiance and unique charm. The hotel is cosy, welcoming and the staff were very courteous. Food was very good, particularly the breakfast which offered a wide selection and good variety to suit all needs. We had a very nice stay and would recommend it to others. The setting is beautiful facing the promenade and sea. We will definitely return at some stage
We really enjoyed ourselves. Staff were great
I stayed at this hotel on a lidl break in mid May for a family event. The staff were friendly. The room was perfectly adequate if not a little too warm. We had dinner on one evening and it was very good as was breakfast. Its a pity it does not have a leisure centre. The parking is a bit tight. We were unable to open the windows in our room which was unfortunate, but we did have a lovely view. Would stay here again.
