Very nice hotel in a very good location. But i paid extra for late check out because i was so exhausted and i just needed to sleep. But the reception kept calling me to remind me that check out was 11 and i would tell them i paid extra to check out at 2. in the long run i did not get the rest i needed. i just feel there should be a way of them knowing if a room is for late check out or not.instead of inconveniencing the guest. Overall the staff was friendly and i would stay with them again.

Hotel was nice and clean, room was a little small I felt, had a old type tv thought we might have a plasma with YouTube etc, price was expensive but staff were v friendly and nice. The person at check in didn't seem to be familiar with what to do. But all in all was ok. Bar staff fantastic

Sylwia scored 3 / 5 on 06/05/2024

We really enjoyed our stay. Walking distance to city center, nice breakfast. All we needed. Small criticism: chewing gum behind the desk leg on right hand side and lack of slippers in the room.

Theresa scored 4 / 5 on 21/04/2024

Clean rooms , reasonably priced and close to city

Marie scored 3 / 5 on 07/11/2023

Totally self serve breakfast .No teapots and only hot, not boiling water for tea.. No shower caps. No soap. None of the little extras in the bathroom. No biscuits for tea.

Christopher scored 4 / 5 on 14/08/2023

Hotel was lovely and food was top quality and reasonably priced… service was painfully slow and waited over an hour to get a menu and a drink on our first night… I don’t have a bad word to say about the staff as they were all so pleasant and helpful especially Jamie who waited on our table for two nights.. these were the best two nights as he looked after us so well. The managers in charge of the breakfast service(who’s name I didn’t catch) was so helpful when my young son was sick so please please give your staff a raise as without them you don’t have a business!!!!!

Really enjoyed our stay here, food was beautiful, breakfast was plentiful. Staff were very helpful. We spent New year's eve in the bar and had a great night. Last but not least there was a fridge in our room...a big plus in any hotel...we'll be back.

We arrived to the hotel at 8.00pm to check in. The receptionist was very pleasant and asked us at what time would we like to have breakfast, I said 9.30am would be great but we were told that they were so busy that we would have to have breakfast by 8.30am at the latest. I was very disappointed by this news after paying €180 for bed and breakfast you would expect that you would be able to have breakfast a bit later. After check in we went to our room to drop of our luggage and get ready for a meal, We went down and were seated at 8.50pm. The menu was very poor and we both decided to have bolognaise which cost €18.50c each. We had a drink with our meal also. After our meal i went up to pay for the meal and drinks , The manager was talking to a couple that were sitting beside the pay station and left me standing for five minutes before turning and asking if he could help me. I said I would like to pay for the food and drinks we had and he said ok, at no stage did he apologise for leaving me standing for five minutes nor did he ask did we enjoy the food. After our meal we got two more drinks and sat down to enjoy them. At 10.50pm one of the bar staff came up to us asking if we would like another drink as the bar is closing at 11.00pm. This is the first time i have ever stayed in a hotel that the bar closes at 11.00pm for residents . The next morning we went down for breakfast at 8.30am which is self service and all i can say is that the food was so dry and looked like it had been cooked many many hours earlier . We will never stay at a Maldron hotel again .

Fantastic hotel from check-in to check-out,.. Delightful staff in all departments.. Room very spacious, clean, and comfortable,, tea and coffee facilities in room which is a must, for us anyway. Breakfast was definitely plentiful, to suit everyone's tastes, nice leisurely 15 min walk to the city center... Will definitely stay again when visiting Galway...

We stayed here for the night on Sunday as we were down in Galway for the Christmas markets. Hotel is in a good location, only 15 minute walk into city centre with free parking. Room was clean and cosy and modern with comfy beds. Staff very friendly, Mohamed checked us in, nice guy. Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and tasty. The only negatives were our TV wasn't working when we got to the room, we were heading out but wanted it fixed for when we came back later with our 2 kids. We rang reception at least 5 times to ask for maintenance to call up and there was no answer. We ended up having to go down to reception in person. Also, we were on the 1st floor and the noise from the petrol station and main road was unreal, I woke up at 5.15am and couldn't get back to sleep for 2 hours it was that loud. However, I would definitely stay here again, thank you all in the Maldron.

Tara scored 3 / 5 on 01/12/2022

Stayed for my daughters 10th birthday I had made a special request for a little note to be left in room wishing her happy bday, asked at check in, said they never got the request and came up to the room with a piece of printer a4 paper saying happy birthday disappointing really. Hotel is lovely but there is a lack of care and attention to detail. I had to ask for a table to be cleaned and staff in general looked sloppy and unkept.

Great hotel, very clean and hospitable premise; friendly staff; and fine, comfortable and well maintained rooms. Good quality breakfast. Amenities are well presented and the location is outstanding with Eyre Square less than 20 mins away by foot & the Coach Station about 20 mins in the opposite direction. Would certainly stay again.

Shannon scored 5 / 5 on 01/01/2022

Brilliant hotel, small touches mean a lot. We asked for additional pillows and got them without delay. Breakfast was great. Santa had got this break for my daughter, there was selection boxes and a note from santa in the room, it was just epic and added to the excitement. Staff at breakfast were so helpful, they welcomed us by name and knew santa had got this trip, kids were offered hot choc and pancakes for breakfast. They went above and beyond what I expected to make this a special stay for us.

Hotel is a good location with a range of shops and fast food outlets within a 2 to10 min walk. 15-20 mins walk to Galway centre or take 407 bus 2 mins from hotel or Taxi from rank at Hotel door. Room was very good, nice bathroom and excellent WiFi. Staff were very good. Restaurant and bar area is OK, lacks a bit of atmosphere. Very good breakfast selection but dinner menu only OK (in our opinion). Underground parking very good. All staff and most guests adhering to COVID mask wearing whilst in hotel general areas. Would book again if visiting the area as excellent base for touring the area by car.

Fabulous Hotel! I spent two nights with a friend at this hotel and we could not fault a thing. The Covid policies in place in the hotel are excellent. We felt very safe there. The breakfast was delicious and the service was brilliant. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The bar and restaurant area were very relaxing and a nice escape from the rain outside with current outdoor dining only possible elsewhere. We will definitely return to this hotel in the near future. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Nice hotel with lovely decor, the beds are a small double not suitable for adults, but would do kids. We stayed 3ngts, 26-29 July 2020, hotel very strict with Covid restrictions. Got served drinks after a Our meal on the 1st night but wouldn’t serve drinks on the 2nd night. Then on the 3rd night we rang to book a table for dinner we were told it was fully booked, I was raging. Hotel room not cleaned during our stay, they said to protect us and their staff .....cleaning the room would not put anyone at risk... total cop put. We had to phone for toilet roll and clean towels. Food was nice when we actually got a table, Underground car park is handy, location is good. Small hotel not much happening Wouldn’t be in a hurry back to be honest

We spent three nights in a hotel in June. The hotel is very good located, not fer from the city center which is ten minutes walk. You can get a bus 407 and the bus stop is like 50 meters from the hotel. There is a Dunnes store nearby, Galway shopping center and a Spar shop just next to the entrance door. By itself it was very quiet and clean. Meals in the restaurant were overpriced, to my opinion. I wouldn't recommend eating there. Overall experience was positive.

Very poor experience overall. Really loud sound coming from beside our room all night long, like the room was next to a boiler house. We couldn't get hot breakfast delivered to our room the next morning. There was a really bad smell in the bar when we went for a drink that night. I wouldn't book this place again.

Stayed here in Tuesday and received a lovely warm welcome from David at reception who promptly ordered us a taxi when going out for the evening and recommended a great restaurant which we enjoyed. We'd breakfast and lunch the following day served both times by a really pleasant young girl called Shauna who has a fantastic sense of humour even if she doesn't like peas ;) we also had a wonderful experience in the spa with our treatments carried out by Jasmine and our welcome and goodbye by Clodagh both ladies where extremely welcoming and professional with great humour also. Overall would highly recommend this hotel.

5 of us ladies stayed for one night in the Pillo Hotel Galway. It was a lovely hotel, very central, staff were lovely. We had an evening meal in the bar which was delicious and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was self service the following morning and was fine. We had a lovely time. Its just a pity like most of the hotels, that there was no music in the bar. It would have been nice to be able to stay there rather than travel into town. We would definitely stay there again

Nice hotel and well maintained. Check-in was busy - the man at recpt wasnt very friendly or welcome. Handed me a sheet of paper with instructions i.e. breakfast time etc - which i thought was rude, and not welcoming. Also pushy with the payment, i gave my credit card to hold the booking and would pay on check out as per most hotels... however he asked if i wanted to pay now, i said no will pay with cash on check out, he said why not pay now, 'get it out of the way' - as i didnt have the cash i couldnt but either way it should be my choice when to pay - at check-in or check-out !!! Did not give directions to any facilities (Bar, Restaurant, or opening times) i know it was on the sheet i got...but still!! Breakfast - Food was good - however the service has ALOT to answer for... The lack of service, trained staff, and co-ordination is awful. They ran out of food alot, the waiters just ran around like headless chickens, had to wait 10mins for tea/coffee - then had no cup to pour it into, then no knife folks etc... Over all the food was good, hotel was nice, but staff could do with some training, and some customer service

Budcrawler scored 3 / 5 on 14/04/2014

The hotel was clean and tidy and was quite modern. It is also in a very convenient location and has free parking. Wifi was free, fast and there was no silly code you had to get from reception. The room had all the amenities you would expect, tea & coffee making, iron, tv, etc. The bar food menu was better and cheaper than the restaurant, which was in the same room, just up a few steps higher! The food was ok, nothing special and a bit over priced for what it was. The waiting staff forgot some things in our order, like a dip/sauce for a starter and ketchup for the table. The cooked breakfast was very oily and the scrambled eggs looked like they were powdered eggs. The waiting staff forget our tea and we had to ask twice or three times until it eventually came. However, for the price that was paid for a night the Pillo was quite good, not four star, but good all the same. The waiting staff could do with some extra training.

Seamus scored 4 / 5 on 14/03/2014

Hotel accommodation and Food is good. However the 'sales' people are very abnoxious and uncooperative. they seem to take a bad view of anyone using the Lidl value breaks, they would rather one to book directly at a much higher price. I would not visit this Hotel again( Galway Pillo) purely because of the attitude of Sinead!

hotel was warm, it smelt clean, well-located. Good price, breakfast was alittle dissappointing (fruit salad wasnt fresh) asked for portion of beans and they came out cold. All in all, I would recomment the hotel to friends.

Lovely hotel, food in the restaurant was excellent. Staff very friendly. My only complaint is that the beds are very short, I am 5' 9" and my husband is 6' 1" and our feet where hanging over the bottom of the bed., not comfortable ! We said this when paying and staff said others had also complained about this. Be aware if you are taller than 5'3".

Myself and my sister stayed at the Pilo Hotel Galway on Saturday 12th October 2013. On arrival we checked in at reception the two ladies at reception were very polite. It was not yet 3.00pm so our room wasn't ready, We went to the bar for a drink and a bit of lunch. We were served by Tommy who looked after us very well. Lunch was very good value and quite nice too. We strolled into the city which is only about ten - fifteen minute walk. When we went to our room it had two double beds, the room was quite spacious and very clean. We were meeting friends in the city for the evening so we were delighted to find a few taxis waiting outside the hotel that took us into Eyre square which is a short taxi ride away costing about six euro. Later that night when we returned to the hotel and retired to our room. We had a plesant nights sleep and breakfast is served until 11.00 am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, but you have to get there before 11.00 am as they start clearing up before 11.00. There was a great range to chose from including a cold buffet, cerals, fresh breads, fruit and yogurts and cooked breafast. We throughly enjoyed our stay in the Pilo Hotel in Galway and its great value too.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Room was nice and the mattress was possibly the best I'd ever slept on. Breakfast was a buffet and of an OK standard, could perhaps have had more choice to the continental selection but overall pretty good.

Stayed here for 1 night. Hotel is very easy to find and very modern. The staff are all very friendly. Rooms are great- very clean and fresh looking with a lovely flat screen tv. The bar food is great value for money and good quality. The only thing that lets this hotel down is the breakfast. It's all self service which I normally don't mind- often better if you're in a rush. But the hot food here was not good. Everything tasted and looked like it had been there for hours- and we came down for breakfast at 8.30 so feel sorry for people later. The pudding was like sawdust and the rashers and sausages just weren't edible. Having been very pleased with our stay the breakfast really lets the hotel down and disappointed us. However in all other aspects this hotel is really great.

We've stayed a few times in this lovely hotel and would recommend it on several levels - friendly staff, FREE underground parking - vital with predictable galway wet weather!, comfortable spacious rooms with excellent wheelchair access and very good disabled shower & toilet facilities, very good breakfast, close to town and university. Looking forward to staying again. If you stay often enough you can build up reward points for future stays!

Stayed in the Hotel on Friday night 7th Sept, arrived early and asked the very friendly staff at reception for a quiet room. In no time attall we were installed in a lovely king room. The room was very warm but it was nice to have a stand alone fan. Breakfast was excellent and I would definately stay here again S.S.

Initial impression off putting when you see shops and garage as part of hotel building complex but room was very spacious and comfortable if a little too warm. Staff friendly. free parking great. breakfast was good , cold plate option available. Very close to shopping center and few mins more and you are in town center. Would stay here again. Trish

My husband and myself returned to the Pillo Hotel in Galway this month-April -having spent a lovely break there last year as well! What can I say-it was just Great!!-beautiful room-spacious, clean and very relaxing. The staff are just so friendly-especially the staff at breakfast-so attentive1 . We will be back! Many thanks Mary

The Pillo Hotel is a beautiful modern hotel well worthy of its 4-star rating. Our request for an early check-in was accommodated and the room upgrade for our special occasion was most welcome. The room was beautifully fitted and the bed was comfortable and warm. It took us 15 minutes to walk into Eyre Square and €6 back out in a taxi but the free car parking cancelled out this cost easily. We were a little disappointed with the standard of the breakfast - whilst the range on offer was good, we found the quality of the hot food to be poorer than expected. Would definitely choose this hotel for our next Galway getaway.

The Pillo Hotel i must say didn't live up to my expectation. When we arrived the receptionist wasn't very friendly and then pulled a bit of a trick on us by giving us a disabled room.It was a nice room but quite cold and when i turned on the heating system it didnt really make a difference. There also wasnt enough uht milk in the room for tea and coffee. On a good note about the room the bed was very comfortable and i liked the the desk in the room. Whatever disappointment i had about the room this was nothing compared to breakfast. It was shocking, the staff were fine and friendly cant fault that just the food was awful. No mushrooms, burnt croissants,no yogurts available and it took a while for a table to be cleared because the place was understaffed as far as i could see.Overall breakfast was a disaster.

My husband and I stayed here for a 1 night break and were very pleased with the hotel. I felt it was very good value and a pleasant walk to the town centre which took approx 10 mins. There are some shops to pop into on the way. Staff were pleasant and friendly and I've just booked a 2 night break there with a friend and intend availing of the spa and doing some retail therapy.

It was a lovely hotel rooms lovely we had two double beds. The breakfast was lovely stayed in a 5 star hotel recently and would rate this stay much better. It was central to the Citly we walked but think we went the wrong way took us 20 to 25 mins. Got taxi home E7 and there are plenty of taxis. Very near the show grounds and the soccer pitch if you were going to a match and needed some where to stay. Very happy with our stay

We stayed overnight B&B in the Pillo Hotel On Sunday May 1st last. What a lovely pleasant stay we had. The rooms are beautiful and very spacious. Helen the girl who checked us in was very friendly and efficient and offered us a twin bedded room even though we had booked a double (as that was all that was available at the time of booking). Breakfast was excellent, a great choice of food and plenty of it. The waiting staff were efficient and friendly. The B&B rate is great value and we will definitely stay in this hotel again.
