Hotel is in a very good location and staff are helpful and friendly
Everything was good, we had a great room and a great view. Couldn't be better thank you!!!
Good location
Friendly & Helpful staff good location. Good relaxed atmosphere .
Great Hotel, clean, tidy and very friendly, very central to all shops and beautiful views over the Peace Bridge. Great buzz about the Hotel with a lot of bus tours. We had both lunch and dinner in the hotel and the food was fabulous.
Nice welcome , the lady who checked us in was very nice (Sara?) and a staff member , Michael , changed a bulb (that wasn’t working when we checked in) very promptly. No hot chocolate available for breakfast in the restaurant but did find it on sale in the bar which I got gratis thankfully. Wasn’t sure how to use the dyson heater and not was the lady we asked at reception! All in all enjoyed the visit but a slight lack of joined up thinking. Breakfast maybe finishes a bit early for summer tourists?Hotel is “between renovations” and will benefit when next it happens , nice place with a good attitude and I’d stay there again
Hotel was very good... great location.. and lovely 2 night stay over Christmas.. Derry People are the best!!!
Great hotel, great location staff outstanding, food was amazing, felt very safe in the hotel seats were well apart well done
From moment we arrived to meeting Gerry and all reception staff a very pleasant gentleman and lady at desk to restaurant staff had a minor issue and was dealt with instantly it was a fabulous stay and Covid guildines were 100% Thank you Happy new year Will definitely be staying a this lovely hotel again
I felt very safe in this hotel the tables in the dining room were all space out very well, apart from a few guests that wouldn’t wear their masks we all to play our part and people like that should stay away as they don’t abide by the hotel rules risking staff and guest, food was amazing breakfast and dinner
Great staff upgraded room to Lough view for £15 ecxelent food nice pool close to all shops and atractions walkable ......was able top check in at 12.30.....great experiance
Excellent hotel.great central location to city.easy walking distance. Very friendly helpful staff. Eveing meal was excellent.definetely would return
Great hotel the staff are so helpful and friendly, the rooms are spacious and spotless and the location is so convenient to the city Center. Perfect break away
Had a great night’s stay with evening meal & breakfast. Hotel was very safe, masks on while inside, limited numbers in leisure centre. Great location. Downside was no a/c, it was very warm at night & fan only blew warm air around.
Great location clean and comfortable, Staff were nice, especially our room cleaner was very helpful, the food was very nice breakfast good too, the pool was nice and quiet Just a bit dull could be doing with some colour
Excellent hotel in city centre
Our stay at the city hotel was very pleasant staff very friendly and helpful room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and well organised and we had dinner in the evening which was from the set menu included in the deal, it was beautiful we couldn't fault it. The hotel is well located to the city and is a delightful place to visit.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely evening meals. Always a pleasure to stay at D C Hotel.
Hotel is so central to foyle side shopping centre staff so helpful especially Stephen one of the waiters he was so busy but had time for us could not do enough loved our stay and the room had a great view of the city and peace bridge
Had a great stay in city hotel Derry staff very friendly and helpful asked for a room with view and I got it very happy
Location was excellent, nice hotel but the staff in the bar /restaurant didn't have a clue...
Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Had issue with the shower which was sorted within the hour thanks to Meave and reception and maintenance guy. Bar staff not as helpful waiting a long time on lunch (soup and sandwich) which when it came was wrong due to waiter not writing down order. Long time waiting on drinks or to be served too many standing behind the bar doing nothing. Breakfast was not great. Due to COVID-19 and table service we were over charged when checking out - for drinks which we had paid for with cash at the time. Have stayed several times but will not be returning under the restrictions as the hotel and staff are not trained for table service and there is no atmosphere around the venue.
We stayed at the City Hotel in Derry on the 11th of December. Staff were welcoming and the rooms were spacious and clean and tidy. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the changing areas in the leisure suite, especially the toilets and showers which did not seem to have been cleaned in the past couple of days. When booking dinner we were told that the earliest we could be seated was 8:30pm even though the restauarant was pretty empty from 6:30, I assume this was to do with staffing, and when we were seated service was a bit slow. Breakfast was also disappointing, with a limited range on offer. Overall though as a place to stay in a comfortable room it was nice.
great hotel with great facilities staff were very helpful the food was great. right in the centre of derry and close to lots of shopping and bars a great time by me and my wife will be returning
Had a fantastic stay in city hotel Derry. The staff were all so friendly and extremely accommodating. Our room was lovely, clean and warm and we had a beautiful view of the bridge. Will definitely be returning in the near future.
great hotel...centrally located...friendly helpful staff.... beautiful food....entertainment was fantastic!! only downside was the q for breakfast...but was worth the wait!! definitely recommend and will return!!
Lovely hotel and quiet. Breakfast was very nice
Hotel was in a great Location, Food was lovely and the staff were very friendly. overall very enjoyable weekend.
Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay in the City Hotel. Great central location to all the main attractions. Rooms lovely food great staff most helpful. Will be back . Hotel highly recommended. 5 star rating SM.
Great , central location - main attractions were just a short walk away. Very helpful staff. We were upgraded to a lovely room on sixth floor with a view of the River Foyle and Peace Bridge. Rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a lively bar and lobby area on ground floor. Free parking and wifi. Great menu deal for two in the restaurant - Two's Company - 35 pounds for two including a bottle of wine. Food including breakfast was very tasty. Carpets and net curtains in lobby should be refreshed or replaced, otherwise the hotel was pefect. Highly recommended.
Thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at the City Hotel. Room was spacious, modern, clean and had excellent views of the Foyle and the city. Staff were friendly and efficient and the hotel was spotless throughout. Breakfast was your normal fayre but, except for overcooked bacon it was very satisfactory. Whilst most of the staff seemed very young this did not diminish their attitude to serving customer needs, all done with smiles on their faces. If I come to Derry again the City Hotel will be my number one choice hotel. Well done!
Just back from family break at City Hotel would highly recommend this hotel and booking through Lidl breaks everything went smoothly and the two course meal on Saturday night was lovely great value . Tina Maguire Co. Down.
We were up for the Walled City Marathon so the hotel location couldn't have been better. Staff were extremely friendly and the cuisine was excellent. We will definitely be back. Paul & Catherine, Tipperary.
we had a fantastic stay in this beautiful city hotel with magnificent views ,food was great music in the bar was great overall a fab place to stay while visiting this amazing city.
great location. excellent hotel with good service and warm helpful staff. recommend
The location certainly lived up to the description of "idyllic location" shown on the hotel's website. Our room had a fantastic view of the Peace Bridge and the Guild Hall with the hotel being just a few minutes walk away from other areas for which Derry is renowned. It was busy but the staff were very courteous and helpful. The room was good and spacious and very clean. Would be only too happy to stay there again. Peggy & Fergus Barry, Meath
This was my second time staying at the hotel. Once again the hotel was great. Loved the food and entertainment was brilliant. The staff couldn't do enough for you. Very helpful. The only negative I found was the room was a little run down. The lightening was poor in both the room and bathroom. The bathroom could do with a little tidy up. Other than that We will be back very soon and I have booked rooms for my daughters birthday very soon.
Hi I booked the hotel break for my mum's birthday, she & her friend enjoyed a nights DB&B they thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were more than helpful & friendly the food was excellent compliments to the chefs they thought the hotel was just lovely . Overall they had a great time & will definitely return.
We had a three night break between Christmas and New Year 2015 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Although the Hotel was very busy as you might expect at this time of year, the staff were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and comfortable and the food was excellent. The situation of the Hotel is fantastic, the city centre with its shops, restaurants and the Peace Bridge are all within very easy walking distance from the Hotel. There is an Omniplex cinema just around this corner and the hotel's own leisure club are great places to visit if the weather is inclement. The famous Walls are definitely worth visiting along with other historical areas buildings.
Great hotel in a very central location. Very spacious room loads of room for our family of 4. Very friendly & helpful staff. Great food in the restaurant with a large selection on the menu to choose from. Excellent value for money. Will definitely stay again.
Great hotel, fantastic staff and great food. We really enjoyed our stay in the City Hotel. We'll be back!
City Hotel in Derry was fantastic. Lovely friendly staff with a warm welcome on Arrival. The food was beautiful, and our evening meal was one of the best we have had. The only down side was parking, but again the staff in the hotel advised us on a resolution. We will definitely be back.
beautiful hotel with great food.
I have stayed in this hotel 8 times now. The breakfast are excellent , evening meal menu has now been changed & very good. The hotel has live entertainment on fri & sat night which is usually enjoyable. The staff are very friendly. Rooms are clean & comfortable. Easy walking into city centre.
First class...looking forward to our next stay!
Had a wonderful stay in the city hotel. Room beautiful and a lovely two course meal. Staff couldn't do enough for us and can't wait until we return again. The worse thing was that we should have booked two nights. Hotel central to everything.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and the price was amazing for what we received. The 3 course meal in the hotel was excellent as was the accommodation for the price that we paid. Will definetly book again through Lidl.
As I booked the hotel in euro but was charged sterling upon check in, the receptionist attempted to over charge me as the sterling amount when converted was £20 more than the euro equivalent. I pointed this out and she then converted what my euro quote was into sterling which was still 5 euro more. This should be pointed out to the hotel so that residents from the South don't have to embarrass themselves over money quibbles in front of other guests. The rooms are nice but could do with a bottle of water in the room for guests for night time. The beer on tap in the bar wasn't good quality. It was flat. We had to send back 2 pints of Budweiser and ended up drinking Harp instead which was also flat. The barmaid wanted to charge us a second time for sending the drink back despite it being a bad pint. Apart from one incident where we were questioned if we were residents just because we sat in the bar watching the entertainment with our jackets on (which was quite embarrassing in front of other guests) the hotel is clean and central to everything and had a nice breakfast.
Excellent value for money. Rooms were well equipped and very clean. Food was lovely and all in all for what we paid it was superb.
Really brilliant hotel and food
Good afternoon, On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who decided to change our room overlooking the river foyle which we were delighted with. I had requested on my booking form if possible to be given a room in quiet part of hotel. thatevening we had gone to bed early but to be woken up with around 10.30 or so to very loud music coming from underneath our room. I phoned down to night duty officer who came immediately to our room and was very courteous and agreed with us that music very loud. He explained that wedding reception going on 2nd floor (we were on fourth). The music would end at 1am. In fairness he gave us the option of moving to a quieter room but we were so tired we declined . He offered late checkout till 3pm the following day also. He also said he would pass on our complaint to the day duty Manager which he did and once again she did offer late check out but we were that tired I just wanted to go home as I was hoping to sleep on the 4 hour bus journey back. We do regret not going for 2 nights as journey so long. I just feel knowing that they had a wedding on we should have never been put in a room where we could hear music. In saying that the staff were still extremely nice to us.
great stay well worth it
lovely hotel, but would never stay there again, as the heat in the room was awful, window didnt open fully for safety catch on it, we have a fan in the room which blow the warm air around , had 19mths old baby with us and he was sick from the heat, compliant to staff and was like talking to the wall, fab hotel breakfast lovely but the heat and its not family friendly , no fun stuff for kids inhouse or in the pool, as asked about toys for baby was giving a float to play with, this hotel is for business or drinking nite out,
Fantastic Week great value for money.
We stayed for two nights,b+b one evening meal, for my sister's 70th birthday, the hotel is in a great location for sightseeing, the staff are lovely and the food is excellent, we,ll definitely be back. Eileen Herdman glengormley.
Great hotel in a good location. Food was lovely and staff excellent and we all enjoyed the evening entertainment.
Location and price through irishrailhotels.ie were the two main reasons for booking this hotel. The pool and jacuzzi were a plus. Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Cons: Booked twin room but were given a double. Twin room we were transferred to was immediately above the nightclub, which did not get quiet until 12:20am. Overall we liked City Hotel and would certainly consider staying there again but the room mixup and subsequent switch to the room we got was a negative experience.
What a great hotel! We enjoyed everything from the friendliness of the staff, beautiful food and great views of the river Foyle from our room. We couldn't fault a thing from our trip and are eagerly looking forward of going back to stay again soon.
Very enjoyable stay, lovely friendly staff throughout the hotel. Excellent food, brilliant view from our room. Will definitely be back and will request the same room.
***** star rating excellent service helpful staff lovely rooms
Hotel was great .. stayed for three nits with family of 3 boys . Staff were v friendly . Food was really good . Didnt tate the entertainment in lounge but thats a personal taste ... everyone else seemed to love it . The only draw back is the small car park .. only 40 spaces and these are v cramped .
I went to City Hotel Derry for a week end with my husband it is a great hotel staff friendly and very helpful rooms lovely and clean and food was amazing we ate 2 nights in the hotel it was that good, breakfast was also great I would highly recommend this hotel.
Gorgeous hotel but a delay on check-in left us not very happy as we had drove from Dublin and were tired and a bit cranky!! But once our room was sorted we really enjoyed it. The 3 course meal that was included in our booking was lovely. Its a very busy hotel and seems to be popular with the locals too
October 2014 enjoyed our stay at city hotel derry, comfortable hotel, friendly staff and good food best of all beautiful location peace bridge and river foyle right across from it.
This hotel has a fantastic location in Derry. It is right beside the beautiful Peace Bridge and Guild Hall and just minutes from shops and lots of restaurants. We got really good value on bargain.breaks.ie and were very satisfied overall with our stay. The restaurant was good but not very good. Rooms were clean and well appointed. We used the swimming pool and it was more than adequate. It was Halloween when we stayed in Derry and there was so, so much to do in Derry. It is a lovely city to visit. Hotel reception recommended a walking tour and it was excellent. I would highly recommended this hotel based on its location and facilities. Car park spaces were hard to get at times in the underground carpark but the porter was an absolute gem. who contacted my husband as soon as a space become available.
Once again a Fantastic stay in a first class Hotel .Love my visits to Derry / London Derry wonderful City and great People .Can't wait for my next visit .Will be booking two night stay once again great value ,Thanks Bargain Breaks .
Got a great rate, so can't complain too much. Great central location, staff pretty friendly. However, room was stuffy as anything and only had an electric fan to cool down. Wasn't bothered with view, thankfully, but no air could get into that particular room to cool down. No water supplied to guests on arrival or daily - My opinion is water should be complimentary in a 4-star hotel? Parked first night in the hotel - Fine/Free - Happy days. Second night had to park in the nearby parking lot and had to pay GBP9.60 on departure at noon the next day. Was never informed of the rates in the car park next door. Food/Breakfast was decent, but not sure if the hotels aesthetics are up to it's 4-star merit. OK, maybe I did complain a bit.
Enjoyed our stay in the City Hotel in Derry . Hotel beautiful. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food very good. Very relaxing weekend. Thanks to Lidl for making it affordable. Michael & Mary Mcgee
Good time there. Service 100%. Many thanks to the staff.
¸When I booked a standard room with The Derry City Hotel through Lidl... I explained in the request box that I would like a river view. The room I was assigned was looking onto a brick wall. I explained that I had booked a few weeks in advance and couldn't understand been given this room It was explained to me that the hotel was busy and because I had booked through another agency and not directly with the hotel they did not receive my request. If I wanted a better view I could pay an extra £15 for and upgrade...which I didn't think I should have to do. I was very upset and EVENTUALLY I was given another standard room with a great view The receptionists were nice and calm and never showed any sign of being exasperated with me. The hotel is in a great location
Great hotel, central location next to the river foyle, rooms large and clean, staff very helpful and wonderful food in Thompson's restaurant.
The hotel was as always excellent super room overlooking the River pleasant staff and great atmosphere. 5 out of 5 and with Lidl Breaks superb value. isabel
Super Hotel, super staff, super 'Ulster fry', super sited, appreciated car park.----All in a super city.
Had a great stay here, room had a fantastic view over the river. Breakfast was excellent and the we ate in the hotel restaurant at night which was extremely good value for the A la Carte menu. Would stay here again and hopefully will do in the near future.
We enjoyed our two day break in the City Hotel. The location is excellent - near the shops, bars and restaurants and a good spot to start out on many of the city walks. The staff were helpful and friendly. I would say that it is good value for money.
when we arrived to book in the two staff on reception were having a good chat never said hello just asked name of reservation we felt like we were disturbing them also at night the security men kept asking if we were guests and kept asking for i d when we were checking out they tried to charge sterling when we booker in euro ie 200euro they tried to charge 2oo sterling no apology just refunded difference when challenged not a friendly hotel no personal touch just felt like another number in a q will not be returning again
Great hotel to enjoy Derry, with great views of the city and river. The rooms are very nice with all facilities and the food was great too, I found staff friendly and accommodating. Overall great value stay. CJ
By far one of the best short breaks we have had to date! My husband and I, along with our three year old daughter, arrived for a three day break and were sorry that we couldn't stay on longer. The staff were excellent, our room was huge and had a fantastic view of the Peace Bridge and the leisure facility was excellent. The breakfast was delicious as was the evening meals we had in the restaurant. I rate it five stars. Derry is truly a remarkable city. I recommend that everyone visit this historical city. The people are lovely, the history is incredible and tragic and has truly left a impression in my mind forever. I cannot wait to go back again.
We stayed here for a weekend location was excellent but the room was basic. Their were tea cups still there with tea in them from the last people they were still. There when we left I would rate it 3 star
